Can anyone just take a moment to realize that Nick Daicos had 28 votes after I think it was 20 rounds. I doubt no one expected Errol Gulden to be up there and Noah Anderson at the start.

Gazza Jr got overtaken in 2014 in the last round and he got injured in round 16
I put $100 on Errol at the start of the season at 81/1 and if he had of got the 3 he deserved in the final game and Neale didn’t get votes he didn’t deserve, I was getting a nice little payday … 😅
I had no doubt that Anderson and Gulden would feature. They were clearly the standout player for both of their teams.
Neale was really underrated this year but personally I still think Bont deserved it. Both brilliant players nonetheless

Neale got 3 votes with 20 Disposals, five of those were turnovers. Cameron 7 goals. Dunkley 25+ and a few others in the 30's. The Brownlow award has lost its shine and become a dud.

I remember Chris Judd getting 3 votes . None at all from any media votes that round. Outplayed by his direct opponent. More disposals at a much higher efficiency. His opponent gets 1 vote.

Bont came #2 in the Coaches Award and #1 AFLPA Award. Neale was #5 in the Coaches Award. The voting criteria is slightly different for Brownlow, in that it’s the best AND _fairest_ player, but it was a shock Neale won. Nobody, including himself, expected it. Brownlow is losing some of its prestige. Bont virtually carries a team on his shoulders. His teammates let him down this year.

There's no way this isn't scripted. Errol Gulden got 42 disposals which is 12 more than anyone on the ground, 14 contested possessions and 2 goals and didn't get 3 votes. They would probably make the excuse that Sydney lost which shouldn't explain the reason other players can get 3 votes in a losing game. The reason they gave him 1 vote is because it would be boring to see Errol Gulden win it which is why the Brownlow is a stupid medal. How did Neale get 2 votes in round 2 which lead to him winning the Brownlow by 2 votes? This is just 1 example and I am glad people agree with me. Turns out the Umpires are blind in many ways.
Umpires don't look at stats
Umpires can't just focus on star players if they did There would be no umpires. They have the pressure of fans to umpire correctly and efficently and they don't have access to watch the game again or look at the statistics of the players nonetheless why it is a midfield award because they make the umpires see them.
Umps are not blind. Are on the take. There is going to be zero investigation into the blatant rorting of the votes.

Daicos was injured for the last 4 rounds and Neale didn't deserve the 3 votes against Collingwood or giants, he had 20 disposals and no goals against the giants while kelly and cogs had 41 and 38. rigged

It's terrible, soo many votes were way off to what every other person who watched AFL would've said. After the last few years I think the coaches award is more accurate to best player of a season. Neale didn't win any other award or even radio show awards for best player of the year. It's ridiculous now

So many stupid calls by the umpires. JHF getting 3 votes in a game where he turned over 70% of his kicks. Gulden also dominating and winning BOG only getting 1 vote. Viney only had 29 and most of them were just chip kicks
and Lachie neale 20 disposals ik he had a good game and all but not deserving of BOG it should of been Charlie Cameron 7 goals or Josh Kelly and Coniglo which both had 41 disposals and 38 disposals respectively. but he was unlucky in round 15 against St kilda where he got 29 disposals 9 clearances 141 ranking points
I'm reading now about that game. Rd 14: "Perhaps the most surprising three-vote game came via Jason Horne-Francis in round 14. With 13 disposals at 53.8 per cent efficiency and two clearances, the Port Adelaide midfielder somehow secured maximum Brownlow votes in a win over the Cats. Dan Houston (31 disposals and six clearances) got the nod from the coaches but missed out on Brownlow votes altogether, while Connor Rozee (25 disposals) was also overlooked by the umps" - AFL
People finding out that brownlow votes have always been weird lol I feel bad for bont but he had too many votes taken by teammates which has always been a massive part of it and luck
I find it hard to believe there were many games a Bulldog played better than him, he was the stand out player even in losses.

Neale already had a Brownlow and this year did everything he could to get the team into the GF> Never playing selfishly, never demanding cheap possessions or kick ins (I'm looking at you Daicos) When he said he was rattled it's because he was just doing the team role each week, not trying to be the superstar and never imagined he would be getting votes.

I actually think the real problem is most umps these days aren’t real footy fans or ex players, so their true understanding of the game is limited. They do it as a profession and don’t genuinely follow the sport, and this goes for local footy as well. Even then some things are clear as day and can’t understand Neale winning 🤷🏼♂️
Still had most clearances for the team and had a huge impact with his work around stoppages without getting huge numbers. He also frequently goes to most dangerous opponent and curtails them.

I know that it is traditional for the umpires to give the votes but the AFL need to develop a new system, possibly two retired umpires in a private box at each game to make notes during the game and deliver a fairer out come. Forwards and backs get no love at all fron the current Midfielder dominated medal. And players who hardly get a touch get three votes.

Have always believed the Brownlow is rigged. Umpires should not be the ones voting if they like or dislike a player, they can determine who wins. Neale only had 7 possessions in round 6 and he got 3 votes. How is this fair? Definitely will not be watching this next year.

This was the worst Brownlow count I've ever seen. Soo many votes robbed from players and many given to ones you never would've predicted. Personally I've found the Coaches Votes more accurate than the Brownlow for quite some time now

rd 7: jaicos, dawson, laird, mitchell all had better stats and more impact, fine decision rd 8: daicos had 25 touches (less than a lot of players) and 0 clearances, 0 scores, and 1 score involvement, mihocek had 5 goals and pendles was the bog rd 9: 41 touches 23 handballs, probably deserved one vote but again no clearances, no tackles, no scores, 1 involvement. he can get the ball given to him but degoey and mitchell doing most of the work in the midfield plus cox playing ruck with 19 touches 24 hitouts and 2 goals is fairly deserving of votes rd 10: 27 touches was not bog, 3 tackles but 0 marks. polls went to mitchell who had most clearances on ground and 26 touches, moore had 25 touches 11 marks holding ur backline and mihocek w 4 goals, if anyone got robbed it was docharty with 34 touches 25 of those kicks 3rd most clearances but this is just looking at stats. umps do not see the stats they only go off what they remember and who they think had the biggest impact on ground

I like Neale but bont was robbed, hell, you could say that about a lot of them, how does Gulden get 1 vote after a 42 disposal/2 goal game? How does Horne-Francis get 3 votes after a 13 disposal/50% efficiency game? How does Daicos have a 40 disposal game and not poll a vote? And how does Dawson get robbed of 6-12 votes in games were he was clearly best on ground or thereabouts? Either the umps or blind or this whole thing is predetermined, every year people complain about players being robbed, but this year was so damn evident that something fishy is going on.

The umpires were so determined to give Daicos the Brownlow that they accidentally gave it to Neal’s instead. There were at least three games when Bontempelli was BOG and only got 2 votes instead of 3 (GWS, Sydney, Essendon) and then in round 23 he and Tim Kelly were by far the two best players on the ground and yet Jamie Cripps got the 3. He should have polled in the mid-thirties. For Petracca it was even more blatant, considering the amount of games where he was BOG or thereabouts and only polled one vote or didn’t poll at all. The umpires didn’t even consider Neale a threat to Daicos, because if they had there’s no doubt Dunkley, Ashcroft and maybe McCluggage would have polled more. At this point Bontempelli and Petracca shouldn’t even come to Brownlow night, because all they are going to see is inferior players walk away with an award that both of them should have already won.

u know the umps do ya? i think neale has competition with naicos theyre both clean posession getters, neale more contested naicos more possesions. important to note that umpires dont get to see anything when they vote, no stats, no outside info nothing. as for bont: against sydney he was bog shouldve had him for 3 and errol 2 however errol was bog for dees game and he got 1. against gws there were multiple players who played well on both sides, many players couldve polled but since the giants won and toby kicked 20 and 5 he gets the 3. against essendon he shouldve gotten 3, 27 and 2 plus 12 clearances shouldve been an easy 3. but this is the brownlow, weird votes happen all the time and as i said the umps dont see the stats they see the game from their vision
And that’s the problem. You look at 20 and 5 and assume that Cripps must have been BOG. Meanwhile I actually watched the game and could see that the influence Kelly and Bontempelli exerted over the game was by far the most.

Let’s be real smith was not best on ground. He was being fed the ball A LOT since it was his last game and missed shot after shot on goal. Stats say one thing, but if you actually watched the game his overall effectiveness wasn’t too great. Bont won the game for the dogs and carried his team on his shoulders like he does every week
