For me it's a different song but a similar story. My friend passed away from a totally surprising stroke just a few weeks after I heard that song for the first time at her house and totally loved it. Everytime I hear it know it reminds me of her. The almost funny thing about it: The song I'm talking about is: "I Will Remember" by Toto. Some things in life are just incredibly strange. All the best to you and may your friend rest in peace.

I blame you for the moonlit sky And the dream that died With the eagles' flights I blame you for the moonlit nights When I wonder why Are the seas still dry Don't blame this sleeping satellite Did we fly to the moon too soon? Did we squander the chance? In the rush of the race The reason we chase is lost in romance And still we try To justify the waste For a taste of man's greatest adventure I blame you for the moonlit sky And the dream that died With the eagles' flights I blame you for the moonlit nights When I wonder why Are the seas still dry Don't blame this sleeping satellite Have we got what it takes to advance? Have we peaked too soon? If the world is so great Then why does it scream under a blue moon? We wonder why If the earth's sacrificed For the price of its greatest treasure I blame you for the moonlit sky And the dream that died With the eagles' flights I blame you for the moonlit nights When I wonder why Are the seas still dry Don't blame this sleeping satellite And when we shoot for the stars What a giant step Have we got what it takes To carry the weight of this concept? Or pass it by Like a shot in the dark Miss the mark with a sense of adventure I blame you sleeping satellite I blame you for the moonlit sky And the dream that died With the eagles' flights I blame you for the moonlit nights When I wonder why Are the seas still dry Don't blame this sleeping satellite Don't blame this sleeping satellite

On this day in Music - 17 Oct 1992 Tasmin Archers debut single 'Sleeping Satellite' was at No.1 in the UK, the English singer, songwriters only No.1. Archer wrote the song in the late 1980s about the moon landings in 1969, but it was only when Archer got a record deal that the song saw the light of day.

I imagine that if ancient philosophers had recording equipment, they would've made music like this. I know the meaning behind this song always went over my head until I was able to look it up on the internet, and then I was like, wow. I guarantee the reason she didn't continue to have the commercial success this song gave her is that her other songs are also about intelligent subjects that go beyond just, like, the common relationship stuff that always seems to be in the number 1 hits. She doesn't sing about trying to get laid or having $800,000 bracelets or that kind of stuff. She also did an amazing cover of Elvis Costello's "Shipbuilding" which hopefully is still around here on KZhead somewhere.

I think it's 31 years since I heard it, today it popped into my head ❤️
It's important we don't lose that wonder and spiritual feeling the song bring no matter how Technological lost we as humans become
This song popped up for me as well last year maybe in November. Fascinating.
Nicely put.

This song ... In the top five of my lifetime faves. Was living with a roommate in the nineties that loved this song. He passed away way too early a few years ago and this song brings me back to his presence. Rest peacefully my dear friend.
Lots of love for you and your friend. This song is really wonderful ! What a creation it is ! ❤️
🥰😘💚🙏🤗
For me it's a different song but a similar story. My friend passed away from a totally surprising stroke just a few weeks after I heard that song for the first time at her house and totally loved it. Everytime I hear it know it reminds me of her. The almost funny thing about it: The song I'm talking about is: "I Will Remember" by Toto. Some things in life are just incredibly strange. All the best to you and may your friend rest in peace.

I remember my mum saying when I was 2 years old I was obsessed with this song and danced around to it. She's passed away 6 years now but amazing how I remembered her saying this and still love it. My 2 year old self sure had some good music taste

Keep dancing.... And remember your loved mom forever 💙 It is for forever i am sure.

Can't listen to this song without tearing up. The emotion of this song is overwhelming. Sounds like Heaven.
Amen! These types of songs written about man, and all of our mistakes, always hit home.
Makes me emotional too❤
there were so many great songs in the 90s, real gems like this one, these days everything is gone commercial. RIP good music

The words flight and night are singular not plural. Eg: night not nights.

I heard this in a 99 cents store of all places it brought a feeing of nostalgia
This song and the lady singing it are beautiful.
Goosebumps! Crystal clear voice, brilliant song.

Co-written with John Beck and John Hughes
Just very simply, one of the BEST FKN SONGS ever written! This one is for the ages!
⬆
Es una de las obras de la musica mas hermosa que existe.
One of my favorite one-hit wonders!
Tasmin Archer was no One-Hit wonder. Everything she's done is brilliant. I especially like her version of Elvis Costello's Shipbuilding.
She's definitely not a one hit wonder. She only had one hit in America, which was crazy because her voice is one of a kind.
She has a new album coming out
A song that builds beautifully throughout - just lovely, and emotionally sung.
Какие же были прекрасные и душевные песни в 80х-90х. Постоянно их переслушиваю 💕

I love her voice. Perfect for this song.
One of the best songs of 1992, shame that she didn't become a major international star after this one. Great soulful vocals, which remind me a bit of Kiki Dee. I reckon Tasmin and Kiki should record together. :)
1992? Jesus I was still shitting my nappys, 😂😂when this piece of magic was released what a tune though.
If you're gonna have one hit - this is a good one to have: classic tune.
One song that I will never get tired of till my dying day. and then i.d probably sing it on the other side.

This song evokes a very special memory. One day in '92, I was 21, I walked into this bar, and I heard this song for the first time and I loved it, immediately. And it is there, on the right, that I saw this girl, with long brown hair, my god, that she was beautiful. We’ve come a little way together

This song holds a special place in my heart as it transports me back to the vibrant era of the 90s, where dreams were boundless and possibilities seemed endless. Its nostalgic melody and evocative lyrics never fail to send chills down my spine, stirring up memories of the plans and aspirations I held dear during that time. Each note is like a time machine, whisking me away to a time of innocence, passion, and boundless optimism. Listening to this song is like revisiting a chapter of my life filled with hope, ambition, and the unwavering belief that anything was possible. It's a reminder of the journey I've taken and the dreams I still cherish, serving as both a tribute to the past and an inspiration for the future.
I first heard Tasmin Archer sing this superlative melody when i was 8 years old more than 20 years ago, loved it then and love it now so much more...
Oh man, I completely forgot about this sublime song I use to adore when I was a little kid. ❤
Memories....ahh....love this song. When a song had a tune, a meaning and a melody...good old days
Perhaps the best pop-song ever. Its all about the voice, lyrics and the changes in the instrumental tones. To bad it is forgotten.....
Wow, what a great song and a wonderful singer! She hits the notes! No up and down pitch bobbling - just pure, super singing! Today's divas could learn a lot from this woman, she KNOWS how to sing! Thanks so much for posting.

Well well well.......amazing song, amazing voice, and totally amazing artist.......Tasmin has captured my heart with this wonderful song. I agree with MrMajorTime. Best song I've ever listened to in my OVER half century on this planet. Where has she been hiding!!!
I remember this song bringing sweet sorrow , comfort and hope. Still does
I can't believe this song is 20 years old now. I still own the 'single' cassette tape that I bought at 'Sam Goodys' in the old Sunrise Mall back on Long Island. This is a song that not enough people have heard and it's a real shame.
28 now... Time flies.
Gorgeous music and arrangement, and a bittersweet, melancholic lyric delivered by a rich, powerful vocal. Tasmin has an idiosyncratic wrinkle in her vocal delivery that makes an already irresistible song that much more difficult to resist.
ich liebe dieses lied seit jahren für immer einfach immer hörbar...
Apart from the song and lyrics being great, the production is exquisite. Also that bass tone...
This song went #1 on the Official UK charts and #32 on the US Hot 100 charts. It also hit the US Radio songs, Modern Rock, & Adult Contemporary charts.
Have no idea why the US has so many vague charts. What on earth is "modern rock" for one???
Certainly one of the most outstanding tracks to emerge from the 90's.
Comment ai-je pu oublier cette chanson ? Ça me ramène des décennies en arrière. Souvenirs, souvenirs....
Il y avait de belles chansons dans les 90...dont celle là
Tasmine Archer is sooooo underrated! This song accompanied me since ıt's release 91 or 92...❤❤❤❤❤
always loved tasmin archer! Great song
Nicely said.
People sang about getting laid back then too lol
I think it's ironic that this was my fav song at 11 , not really understanding the words, but it made my heart swell, and it just made me feel love, fast forward to this time ,wow makes perfect sense in a society were free thinking and conscious awareness is crucial 💙 ❤️
A beautiful song from a beautiful young woman. So soulful!!
As a kid, I *thought* I understand the lyrics and liked the song. Now, as an adult I do understand and like it still, even more. What a great song, still fresh after a third of a century.
