I feel like so many people are fans of specific artists/sounds/trends and have biased ulterior motives stemming out of their fandoms that serve thier own egos vs just being fans of the culture as a whole and its general growth. They dont want growth of the culture, they want growth only of what they personally value or have superficial allegiance to within the culture whether it be people, places, or things. It makes sense to a degree if you have actual ties to a sub community or person/click, but otherwise its like stop trying to live vicariously through the wins and losses of artists… especially if youre not even one yourself.

Maybe Lupe would win in a lyric focused rap battle but Kendrick has put out bars and his flow is nice. Kendrick started by battle rapping with people on the street. Lupe was a popstar in the late-2000s and early-2010s. He transitioned to more lyrical rap, got screwed by the labels, then went underground.
His first two albums made him famous then his fame died down cuz of the reception of his third and forth album but a lot of that was meddling from the studio since then he’s released stuff independently and while he’s not getting world wide attention for them they’re his best work artistically and lyrically
