I recommend drilling a pilot hole with a smaller bit, so you dont end up walking towards the threads and damaging them with the larger bit. It's worth spending the extra few minutes, as a transfer case or whatever that was, is not easy to tap or weld a new pocket unto. Oh, and you might want to stuff a rag into that other inlet, as metal shavings will definitely screw up whatever gearing is inside

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. PLEASE EDIT IN, This is a whole list of things NOT TO DO ! #1 Dont straighten the bolt! Apply KROYL, (or good penetrating fluid), and gently peck on bolt to vibrate area to assist fluid to walk thru the rusted threads. Put a pair of vice-grips on bolt, as close to base metal as possible. Try to unscrew. If it wont, remove pliers and apply torch heat and re-apply vice grips & see if it will back out with the help of a little Kroyl. if it does break off, clean the area well and dry good and plug the pipe-threaded hole next to where you're working, to prevent invasion of debris., lay a flat washer on the bolt. Weld thru the hole into the bolt. Then weld a nut to the washer on two opposite sides. This applies lots of heat to the threads, and turn out with an adjustible wrench or a pair of vice-grips. BEWARE, if base metal is Aluminum, you could melt it. DO NOT USE HEAT if is Titanium !!! It will burn ! Always keep debris & dust from getting into the innards of the machine. If base metal is soft, use Center-punch and drill STRAIGHT and tap in the E-Z-OUT. Remove with an adjustable wrench, but turn the wrench around. It was designed to have its power stroke the other direction. Consider the adjustor pin as an arrow. It points in the direction of the power stroke. Always cover or plug holes with bolts, pipe plugs, sheet metal or tape. If using torch, you can get by with course steel wool inserted into pipe hole. At any rate, you you NEVER grind off all of the bolt. Length is your friend!

Maintenance worker here, This is how you remove stuck blots, if it isn't enough you can try applying heat to the outer edges of the hole. If you don't have this kit available and you're in a horry, you can also try to improvise and drill an undersized hole for a hex/torx key, smash it in the hole and use an impact wrench (preferably with adjustable power) to get it out. and again if it isn't enough, apply heat while wiggling it to get it out.

9 out of 10 times, those things don't work unless the bolt broke while already being unscrewed. Bolts that break like that are usually bound by rust or heat expansion, welded to the threads. Most especially to note that the drilling was way off-center. This was totally faked to make it look so easy, but over 30 years of this being a part of my job, I know it's not that simple. Most of the time, you end up drilling the hole close to the minor diameter of the bolt, and cleaning it up with a Tap, and if that ruins it, you end up doing a weld build-up and re-drilling and tapping a new hole.

Thats an easy fix. Cronatron made a "30 F Brazing Rod" which we would use for this exact same scenario for demo of the product. Basically with a carborizing flame from a tourch you would braze another nut on the top of the broken nut then after cooling, the tensile strength was such that you could wrench the broken bolt (using the brazed on nut) right off without it breaking again because the braze or weld was stronger than the bolt itself. The parent company was Lawson which also had "Certainium" in addition to "Cronatron" in their product line. Three weeks of metallurgy school in North Carolina had us on ALL kinds of "Demo's" just like this one but with all their products making it easier.

Could someone tell me the name of this song plz & Thankz.
Comments are better to learn how to do it than the whole video
Or you can tilt the drill towards the center while you’re drilling, no need for a pilot hole.
This response is spot on. I was concerned about those threads too. A pilot hole and a rag for that hole are definitely best to use on this case.
😊
Every bolt I've ever broken off was in a space that none of these tools would fit
That's the reality
Weld a nut on it.

If you don't have this kit available and you're in a horry, you can also try to improvise and drill an undersized hole for a hex/torx key, smash it in the hole and use an impact wrench (preferably with adjustable power) to get it out. and again if it isn't enough, apply heat while wiggling it to get it out.

These things have been around for at least 50 years, and they DO NOT WORK on a bolt that's badly rusted in, they will break and the steel they are made of can't be drilled, so you then have a major repair job. It's much easier and safer to just drill the broken bolt and re-tap the hole.

AND a professional knows there are better easy outs than these bastard type pieces of junk shown here. Straight flute extractors are the best. One's with grip grooves cut in are the very best. A little penetrating oil or heat if you got it makes this very job doable.
....and not to use a carpenter's hammer.
Just weld a clean bolt to the broken end and turn it with a spanner and that's it.
He should have centered that first drill hole better, in case he has to go back with a larger bit because his easy out didn't work. Another thing I like to use is a left hand drill bit. Using that, when the bit catches a bit it will often turn the bolt out by itself, making the easy out unnecessary.
These tools fail more often than not. Whacking the extractor expands the top of the broken stud, and locks it into the base.
Yes, that design is one of the worst of all extractor designs ever conceived. Different jobs require different designs, but that design is advisable to stay away from, because there is no situation, where they shine.

Use left hand drill bit and sometimes they come out stuck to the bit.
1, next time don’t hammer a bolt sideways…. They tend to break off 2, its called a CENTER punch 😂😂😂 3, that bolt was so loose if you just sneezed it probably would have blown out
I used them many times with a fair amount of success
the drill needs to be centered if you want the best chance to remove it with a tool like this. these tools do work if used correctly, and what was shown isn't correct.
Not Really !!! The 'eccentric' hole actually gives you MORE Breakaway Torque !
Always a critic. Worked in the video
@@rocknfan100the hole is actually smaller than it looks, if you get off center too much, you'll get into the threads and lock everything, and if the bolt is actually seized, it will have to be drilled and tapped, something you can't do if if the hole is off center. I'm a retired machinist that's removed hundreds of broken bolts and it's actually rare that an easy out will work. If you the bolt wrung off, you'll never get it out like that.
He didn't get 'into the threads'. Quit speaking of if's and then's ! I've been a Mechanical Engineer for 50 years and have ordered the removal of thousands of 'broken bolts' from 'dozens' of machine shops. What I spoke of is a fact of Physical Science ! As far as If's go, the BEST way to remove this bolt IF the Easy-Out fails is to Tig Weld a 12" square rod of 1040 steel to the bolt section, Soak the threads with Liquid Wrench or equiv. and turn the rod with ever increasing steady torque.@@stephenwalker6939
he is tapping it now with the dye... Don't try be clever
I like to drill right threw the bolt, then if you break off the easy out, you can pound it down.
Now I'll just have to make a bolt stuck like this so i can use my newly acquired knowledge then feel good like like i did something really super.
Very clever I love to watch technology all day 😅
9 out of 10 times, those things don't work unless the bolt broke while already being unscrewed.

Yes, the threads of the bits are reversed. I couldn't get one, and I was struggling with my 2hp water pump days back.
Spiral screw extractors have a tendency to expand the broken fastener making them tighter . A tapered straight extractor is more effective .
These videos are presented as though easy outs are a new invention
I’m sorry to burst bubbles here but, the bolt was bent to the point it was half broken. The only thing to do is what was done. The threading was not rusted upon removal. This is a deceptive video.
As a mechanic I totally disagree. Unless as u say it's an adaptive video . However things has to be done precisely in this game. If u do it not right, millions of people are going to learn wrong things. Plis do it right the first time.
Обломыш там шевелится,можно пинцетом отвернуть
😂if it in there so loosely that channellocks got it, id say just trying to grab the bent part with the same channellocks would have done it. It's the deeper truly stuck ones that need drilled. I've had to do it several times. But extractors do work if you get a good bite.
Éso no es sierto no es bueno usarlo cuando el tordillo esta muy duro no lo recomiendo
If the bolt was not hardened you could drill
He should have tried turning to both out while it was Ben before he broke it off. It would have saved my brain cells😊
Every problem has a solution. You just need a new angle. ❤
It’s called an easy out. It’s not new and it absolutely works.
Always had better luck with the square ones
Agree with most other comments - if an easy out will do the trick - it wasn't that bad in the first place. Break one off and you'll wish you welded it, drilled and tapped it or just didn't bother having a go. It's not a new idea either.
I'd watched it again and those dudes speaking in Russian or whatever it was were exactly right, they said that the bolt was already loose and I believe it was too. It's a good video for beginners, but keep it up guys send some more.
Great point
I'll have to remember this for next time I force the wrong pitches together and beat the bolt sideways until it breaks afterwards.
Я бы показал этому человеку настоящий заломанный 🔩,который сломался от крутящего момента, а не специально молотком 🔨.
Did you think people wouldnt notice the rusted bolt and "stuck" threads were 2 different thread pitches?
Think about this again
What the hell are you talking about lol
Yes youre right… I noticed
@@ooy5596you wont understand bcoz you have zero idea of mechanical jobs
I’ve snapped a few easy outs off. Had to weld onto them to get the broken part out.
I would have put a new bolt on top of the piece that is stuck and welded them together, then just unscrew it
Когда ты ломал болт, то было прекрасно видно, что он внутри резьбы свободно вращается, я такое пальцами выкручиваю 😂.
Зачем его вообще было ломать 😁

My extractor in this case would be an oversized nut and a low hydrogen electrode, but then again im a welder!
A left handed drill bit in reverse works pretty good too.
He used a size too big & it nearly broke through, to damage the thread in the Cylinder Head. AND , he should start with a smaller 'pilot' drill to ensure that drilled hole is parallel / centralised with the original drill-hole.
Left handed drill bit left the chat
A "professional" would not have broken it in the first place
Remember when using a cutting disc to grind with stand back a little. About a mile should do.
We had a rule at dramco, take it to the EDM so you dont make a mess with a worthless EZ-out.
