I mean it sounds like the feds are already working on it; in the video itself it's mentioned that they're cloning the best sniffer dogs, presumably they'll eventually build an army of fantastic sniffers that they can deploy anywhere to sniff out anything that they decide people aren't supposed to have.
That'd cost millions. For even just 25 clones, it'd be $1,250,000. So I mean if you have the money to spare...
Even if you clone the animal, its experiences in life will be what create its personality. Things like temperament may be similar as that would be part of its genetics but you still can end up with two wildly different pets. The horse breeding made more sense to me since it is the genetic traits you are looking for to have a better racing horse.
Dogs have dogalities not personalities!

The horse breeding makes no sense other than greed for money in races.
i don't even get the point of this. the animals will not be the same. i think some people are just looking for something to do and others will gladly take their money
I almost cried. I don’t think this is OK cloning a dog they will never be the same. You cannot replace dogs there too valuable once you’ve gotten attached to one!
Not the same you say… it is a literal piece of your original dog… that piece is still alive with you.
Imagine if we could clone the memories of your dog onto a puppy version of your dog then that would be absolutely insane

i'd sell my soul to do that

If I ever had the option, I would not do it. I love my dogs, but the reason I love them isn't for their looks, its for their personality and my relationship with them. I have spent 12 years With one of my dogs and 8 years with the other, building that relationship takes time, and even if I built my relationship with the clone it wouldn't work out the exact same. edit (2 months later): My eldest dog just passed away, I've been really upset about it. But I'm glad she got to spend her life with me, I would still never clone them if I had the choice, even after knowing the pain of losing a dog.
I think @corgo2396 is a bot

it's pretty awesome how you can have an identical clone of your pet, and yet they can end up with a completely different personality I've seen videos on how you can socialize kittens and stuff this is just further proof that any pet can be a good pet, but they can also become a bad pet it's like nature vs. nurture and like she said, there are definitely factors that change your pets life
It's about genetics. Imagine you lose your child and u have the chance to bring him back wouldn't you take the chance? Yesterday my pet died. My family always was ... not perfect and messy. So my pet suffered under these conditions and I could barely help him. I feel so guilty that I could not give him the life he deserved. If I could get a second chance, I would take it
@@creatordaylight9651That's too bad about your pet. However, if you clone it and have the clone a better life, you would not be helping your original pet in any way. You would simply be helping your clone, but you can find a nearly identical pet at an animal shelter if your patient.
A clone is like an identical twin. It has the same genes, but may still be very different. Genes are not everything.

Thank you for making this. My dog is getting older, and I’ve thought about how much I will miss him since he was young. This did something I have thought about and it’s interesting to see people who actually did it.
You can't fight death it's the natural process. Cloning your dog would just be shitting on its memory. After all the years your dog has given you how could you do that? It's very selfish tbh and immoral.
Cloning your dog will not bring him back. His personality will not be the same.
DO NOT CLONE YOUR DOG! IT WILL NOT BE THE SAME DOG!
I can see why people would want to do this, especially if they have the money. Personally I wouldn't do this because there are so many homeless dogs in shelters that are being euthanized because they are not being adopted, so I will keep adopting the dogs that need a home. Very interesting video though!
When it’s my cat’s time, I will hopefully learn to let go. As painfully difficult as it is, it’s just a part of life to let go. It would feel wrong to replace my cat…. He’s everything to me, and remaking him just doesn’t feel right. I just hope he lives a long, healthy life. He’ll be 5-years-old in May. ❤
Psyhics see Satan and demons so they made me say satanic things dw it will be in heaven
I'd feel wrong just I'd feel like I'm robbing a shelter dog of the chance to be adopted
Agreed, I feel like if you clone a dead dog it’s going against the original dog.
Not only that, the surrogate mother can get more than 1 puppy if they use multiple cells. And those don't get always adopted...

So wait how do they get these “cells” I mean I’m no scientist but a dog still needs to get pregnant 👀 😅
They are not fusing a male gamete with a female gamete. They are just cloning a single cell of the animal and multiplying those cells and putting them into a surrogate mother. There a few methods to do this, I don't know which they used. For one example you can put Nucleus of your animal into a egg of another animal then put that "new egg" into a surrogate mother
Sus 💀
i dont
I love your content its amazing
They actually show you how they get the cells, they just don't tell you. One of the people holds up a punch biopsy cutter. So essentially your original animal is sedated, has a tissue sample taken, and those cells are the ones that are preserved and eventually are used to create the clone.
This video was incredible Jack💪👊

I love how informative this video is persobally, i think cloning technology is amazing but i would not really use it for personal use (e.g. pets). for me at least it feels like cloning my pet would give me a fake sence of comfort while also giving this clone version so much expectations.
Indeed, I could kind of feel I was having that same sort of dilemma when my own dog passed away some years ago, and ended up getting another of the same breed some months later. I had to try to remind myself it's a whole new dog with his own quirks and personality and not to beholden him to past expectations.

When I thought cloning I thought exact duplicate like in the movies. So this cloning, basically works as "hitting save" on a specific configuration, but there will still be variance. Pretty cool

Bc they don’t want the whole audience knowing this tech. Bc if they are showing this kind of tech, then they are DEFINITELY cloning humans. It only costs $50k to clone a dog?? Crazy. This gives much more credence to the celebrity clones conspiracies.
I wish I had a clone to compare my likeness with. It could help understand how much lifestyle choices affect height and facial features when comparing ourselves. Also do clones have the same birthmarks? Or are they usually formed from unique experiences in the womb or post-birth. So many questions.
I'll be honest, I lost my cat when my house burned down in 2013 (she passed from smoke inhalation). It took years for me to get over it and to this day when I come across old pictures/videos it brings a few tears. If I could've done this, I would have.

Loving the Video so far Jack glad your back btw!
That was super informative and fascinating!!! Thank you for making such a great video!! Im curious to learn more now
If you didn't know, cloning a animal at 4 years, means the clone will also be 4 years even though it has just been born, because the cells of the previous organism have a certain age, based on their telomeres and it's a information that cannot be changed. They found out this thing when cloning the first sheep.
I was surprised that no one addressed the telomere issue at all, but I guess the people who are trying to get people to clone their pets wouldn't want to elaborate on the downsides.
For those who don't know, this is one of the most messed up process ever. Surrogate dog mothers are most of the times dogs that were abandoned or don't have any owners. Being a surrogate dog mother is very painful since they have to be cut open. They don't even get to give consent, and this is a very big issue in pet cloning. It's very immoral and shouldn't be done. Regardless of wanting to keep your pet alive, you shouldn't hurt other animals. The surrogate mothers are also animals, and just because you want to let your dog live forever, that doesn't mean you should hurt other animals. I usually love Jack's content, but the way he didn't show the pain that the surrogate mothers have to go through is just so disgusting for me.
Great video and a very interesting topic I have to say that the quality of your video's are getting insane, much respect man.

it’s really trippy when they call them “clones” because what went straight to my mind was robots. So my question is, Are they out of the ordinary animals or are they just like every other animal but with an exact twins?
The clone is a genetic copy of the animal whose cells they grow out of. They isolate the cells, grow them a lil bit and then place them into a surrogate mother of the same species. So yeah, pretty much like an exact twin on the cellular level.
They are just like identical twins. In fact, identical twins are natural clones.
Twins
They are basically no different than identical twins
Clones inherit the biological age of their "original" so they generally don't live as long.
I feel like I could never clone my pets, because though it would look the same, it wouldn’t be the same animal . It might almost hurt more (at least for me) if the new pet look exactly like the old one but acted differently

"Begun the clone War has" -Master Yoda
It would be pretty cool to clone humans too I dont think there is anything wrong with "altering" the circle of life because it is still following its path
There's nothing like, *fundamentally* wrong with cloning a human, but if someone is cloning so they can get a kid, why clone when you can adopt?
What ethical reason would there be for cloning a human? Like Generic Name said, it would be way easier to conceive or adopt a child. There are concepts of cloning your own cells to treat illnesses, but you don't create an entire human if that is your goal. The only two reasons I could see is that you create someone with your DNA to serve as an organ donor for you or you clone a dying family member to replace them. Both of these are completely unethical.
I don't think I'd do it. Even if it were cheaper/free. Having lost my first childhood cat, and my second being 15-16 years old now, I think it would be too hard emotionally. At the end of the day, it wouldn't be the same cat. I wouldn't want to take away from the memory of their individual personalities. I'd rather make new memories, with a cat who would otherwise be left in a shelter.
You’re going to be gre next big KZheadr. You’re insanely talented

One day, just one day someone who owns a cloning laboratory is gonna secretly take your DNA sample and clone with without your consent
It's possible but unlikely with today's tech. It's very difficult to clone a simple animal. Less than 200 percent even make 7t ti birth. Humans much more complex. 😁
Now explain why and how this is my problem as an individual. There are going to be two versions of me, one years younger than me? People go to extreme lengths to achieve just that with natural reproduction and still manage to fail, if someone wishes to raise my clone then go for it, evolutionarlly I only win more in the natural selection game. And my DNA isn't even mine for starts, it's a hundreds-of-millions-of-years-long collab between all the living creatures on this planet and is a result of random crossection of dna's of my parents, I own nothing. This is exactly why DNA isn't copyrightable and should never be.
Can't wait for your channel to blow up, you'll definitely be up there with Ryan Trahan if you keep it up 👍

I lost my beloved Boston Terrier back in 2021. She lived to be 16 years old, she gave so much love and was very loved, and lived the best life a dog could ask for. I love her so much I would have given 5 years of my life just to keep her around for 1 more year. Now that she is gone, the idea of bringing her back in some form seems wrong, even if it is technically genetically the same dog, there will only ever be one of her.
This is so good, what a legend
My question would be when do genes mutate when bringing new life to earth? If you clone someone, are their genes EXACTLY the same or does some mutation still appear like it does with normal reproduction? If anyone knows the answer I'd be glad to learn.
@ion ruby Huh
I'm no expert on genes, but I think there's always a chance? I know 2 identical twins, which are basically clones, and they have small differences. One needs glasses, the other is lactose intolerant.

Even if you clone your pet, the clone will never be the animal that you loved, for it will not have the memories. You will still be obliged to get to know this new animal and learn how to love it once again. So why put yourself under this pressure of being reminded of your dead friend every single day? I work with sled dogs that compete in races. I'm not a musher myself, but I do spend a lot of time training them without getting on the actual sled (many people think that these dogs only need to run, but they actually need much more all-around training in order for them to be psychologically healthy). Last fall some of our dogs got into a big fight. This happens sometimes, it's pretty normal for dogs (not permanent aggression, just rare conflicts). And usually either a human or one of the pack's leader dogs stop the fight. But this time it got out of control and one of our top-speed dogs got killed. I'm very very glad I wasn't there that day. I loved this dog so much. He and 3 other dogs were in the little team I spend the most time with. Long story short, some guy proposed to the owner and musher of all these dogs (so my boss) to clone this dog, cos he was really really expensive due to his lineage and sport qualities. But she refused because she knew that it will never be the same dog again. We got two new dogs and we spend time getting to know them and training them just as we would have to if we did clone the dead dog. But also, this team of four that I was working with kinda fell apart after his death. One dog began to really evolve in his speed and results, but another one is slowly loosing his eye-sight and will become completely blind eventually. He's fine and he is a perfectly happy dog, but it's just dangerous to bring him to races like this. The forth dog of this group, my biggest love of all times, is just getting lazy lately. He isn't as interested in running as he was 18 months ago, so he is more of a pet by now than anything, cos obviously, we cannot make a dog run if the dog doesn't want to. But I still love him :) Moral of the story. Dogs are as complicated as humans are. And we shouldn't clone them.
he’s the clone of ryan trahan and his content is superb
😂😂😂
This is wrong. Cloning animals is inhumane. The way they do it is unethical. It’s bad. Do NOT clone your dog, the clone will have poor health. Do NOT clone.
Well said .
Period!!
Every scientific discovery was cruel, there's a reason why "for science" moto exists. Now there are some limits but for exploring a completely new technology trial and error is needed.
That ending felt like watching a movie trailer.
This is like, recreating the past. Or the clone wars.
Wow, amazing video man. Emotional, attention grabbing and entertaining all the way through
Go to a shelter, this is messed up :( You are missing the chance to make a connection with an animal that needs your help. The cloning itself isn't the immoral part. It's not about "the circle of life" or genetic modification. Having a purebred dog is already messed up. Think about the mothers and the whole litter of dogs that you don't end up with. What happens to them? You wouldn't even dream of genetically modifying humans to get your perfect child. Plus, even in your video, you proved you won't recreate the connection you had with your childhood dog with the Belle example. If you have 50k to spare, maybe donate it and adopt a dog for free. You never know the new bond you could make.
It's also very convenient that you reduced the argument to something that a crazy religious person would say, like 'the circle of life.' Sometimes science can have bad consequences, like with atomic bombs or bioweapons. While it's cool that we know about cloning and I'm sure the technology would be very helpful in medicine, commercializing cloning in this way, playing with non-consensual animal's lives, and taking advantage of ignorant people's feelings to make a sale is not cool.
i'm just so dissapointed in Jack this is sad
not like he said he would do it, counting it's his choice and if the dog ends up healthy it's healthy and it ends up sick it's sick. Stop trying to force things on to people.
@@desired2361 Nobody forced anything on anyone and Jack is giving a very one-sided argument for cloning. Sure he threw in a few token "but what about the circle of life" bits but he completely and utterly ignores how messed up the entire process is, actually more than that, deliberately avoids it. Would not be surprised if he was paid to make this video with these views by some big corporation. Usually enjoy his content, but this is sick and completely unfair.
@@desired2361 Stop trying to force things on animals lmao are you kidding? 😂 I'm not saying he should literally go and adopt a dog, but promoting this practice without explaining the downsides or alternatives is not something I can get on board with. Even if the science is interesting, he shouldn't have ended the video the way he did, in such an emotionally manipulative way (by showing a picture of his childhood dog, which is still alive, btw). I just want people who watch this video and read my comment to consider a different perspective, because his is very one-sided.
As a future physician, I am both excited and terrified about the technology that will be at my fingertips in the next several decades. Another amazing video Jack!
