  • Oooooo this is beautiful. I like how timeless this version feels. The original had a lot of specific mentions of hardships and atrocities (flooding, a wall built between people, people being turned away in their boats, starving at borders, troops dying, etc.) and felt like an extention of modern troubles into a post-apocalyptic scene. This version has less overt anger at the current state of things, but still carries the tone of loving someone through hard times. "True to the time and the place you've been given / your heart in the world, and a world there within" is a GORGEOUS line.

  • I think what I like the most about Hozier's music is that each song is an experience. It's not just about the lyrics, albeit they are poetic and beautiful. There is so much thought behind the sound and the effects to this version of the song. This song sounds like a dreamy prayer that love is being placed in the right person. Not religious, but hopeful.
