Storytime: so I was on my way home from work after a long day and was watching this video on the train. A girl sitting next to me must've seen my screen and tapped me just to say "I can't believe you're watching Jaclyn Hill, I can't stand her face and she doesn't even do makeup that well". I said "if it wasn't for Jaclyn, I'd probably tell you to get the fuck out of my face. But because I'm a part of her subscriber family, I'll tell you- as politely as I can- that I respect your opinion. But for me, Jaclyn's videos are so much more than just makeup. As you can see, I have no eyeshadow on. No dramatic lashes or lip color. But watching her videos make me happy and give me an escape and I can feel her even though there's a phone screen and thousands of miles between us. She's helped me with my anxiety and her videos have pulled me out of bed on days I didn't even want to move. So I hope you think about that the next time you rudely interrupt someone watching a video to give your two cents. You never know what that 'lame makeup video' means to them." Dear Jaclyn, I was born with a rare physical disability and I've developed a chronic pain condition over the past few years. I spend a lot of time in bed and often have trouble sleeping due to severe pain. I normally wouldn't tell you my "sob story" but I decided to today because I wanted to let you know that when I am in bed or unable to sleep, I'm always watching and re-watching your videos! You always put a smile on my face with your bright, charismatic, loving energy and you actually sparked my interest in makeup! I just wanted to thank you for giving me something that helps me forget about my pain makes me smile and laugh. You've really helped me deal with my condition and my pain and I can't thank you enough for that. Please never stop making videos and never stop being you! I hope you see this someday. What chronic pain condition have you developed? I've developed one also, called CRPS which has affected/damaged my nerves and entire nervous system from a surgery I got a few years ago. It's progressively getting worse and it's hard to find others out there who are going through similar things. I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you anyway, I wouldn't wish chronic pain upon anybody.

Olivia Thorne Gosh. I'm so so sorry. It took many many many specialists and doctors to figure out why I was having certain symptoms, and finally I went to a pain specialist who diagnosed me. I hope they figure it out soon. It stinks. Even though I am diagnosed, there isn't a cure. So I'm stuck with this for the rest of my life:/ my nerves will always be damaged, I'll always be sensitive to hot and cold temps, and I'll always have to rely on others to help me. I'm currently on meds to higher my blood pressure because I finally found out that the reason I was fainting and constantly getting dizzy at school was because I had CRPS and it affected my nervous system. I'll always have these problems, and I'm sure they'll get much worse as I grow older. But, I get my mind off of it by singing and making beauty videos here on KZhead! Since I cannot play soccer or any sports, or even walk around at school, I'm stuck homeschooling. There aren't any treatments for what I have, but I believe there's always a way to get my mind off of it. Im truly so sorry that they haven't been able to diagnose you. I know how it is to go through tests and tests, and still not getting an answer. But I hope they figure it out someday soon, and that your symptoms don't progressively get worse. All forms of chronic pain are bad, but I'm sure you know how to handle them. Good luck, I'm sorry again.:(

I would love to see a full video of the whole blending process with eyeshadow. Maybe sped up a bit, but still the whole thing. Include how many times the brush is dipped and which brushes are used. Has this already been done? I love this look so much! All of it!
Mandy Welch I would be interested in that too! I think i don't realize how long it actually takes to blend bc everything is always sped up. Of course it would get boring if it wasn't but sometimes I feel like I've been blending for nine years and it still doesn't look as blown out and soft as I think it should.

I don't know if you're going to read this, but I thought I'd say this anyways. I'm currently in nursing school and working part time. I had to drop a day because of the overwhelming amount of work we get. My clinical teacher is terrifying, she always says little digs making me feel so inadequate. Between all our assignments and exams I'm so overwhelmed and stressed just waiting for this semester to be done in December, hoping I make it through. Your videos are my escape, they relax me and get my mind off school for a bit. I'm not the most confident person, but seeing how you carry that confidence in how you speak and act inspire me to find that strength. So thank you so much, your positivity is an inspiration to me.

I was watching your snapchat about the "old Jaclyn" which I never got to see because I just started watching your channel a little over a year ago. I love THIS Jaclyn I think she is humble, beautiful and an inspiration to all strong women out there. Sophie Ortega girl, I'm oily too but i still wear highlighter!! haha just not in my tzone which is where I'm the most oily. do what jaclyn does and set your face with translucent powder and only highlight where you want that glow. that's what i do! don't let that oily skin keep you from glowing to the gawds! 😘

I am oily too and I do the same thing with the translucent powder and then go in with highlighter! Just because you have oily skin doesn't mean you need to stop wearing a certain makeup. Embrace your skin girl! It is the only one you will get :)

What I love doing is taking a mattifying primer (I use the No. 7 one), and then, after foundation and concealer I take a loose translucent powder with a damp beauty blender. It keeps me matte all day, and I can still highlight without look oily!!! I know how you feel with oily skin, it sucks.

Hey Jaclyn, I know you were talking about being frustrated with having texture on your cheeks and stuff. I recommend that you try ditching any exfoliating scrubs, or any physical exfoliators, and try AHA &/or BHA liquid exfoliants. They're so much better for your skin and won't cause tiny lacerations on your skin like scrubs do, which can lead to more texture and larger pores and eventually premature sagging/wrinkling of the skin. Just a tip, as this has done WONDERS for my skin. love you girl! 😘

Jaclyn, I have been following you for about three years now. My mom passed away from cancer when I was 19 and I was super depressed. I was in college and had no desire to do anything. One night I was looking at Pinterest because I literally could not sleep and stumbled upon your video. I think it was a classic glam look and you had recently gotten Georgie and I just instantly felt connected to you. I watched your videos the whole night and it took my mind off of what was going on in my life personally. I have always gone to your channel just to relax and have fun and I just wanted to let you know that you helped me find confidence in myself and I cannot thank you enough for that and you honestly helped to pull me out of a dark place. Or switching up how she sleeps. At 30 I was still occasionally getting acne on my chin it was driving me bonkers- a friend pointed out I rest my chin on my arm/hand while I sleep. Adjusted a bit so it's a clean pillowcase, BAM, cleared right up, four years later and no problems since. 💕

Loved watching you talk about human trafficking and bringing light to the issue. As a senior, I did a project on human trafficking. I live in Sacramento and it's one of the major cities where human trafficking is a major problem because all the freeways connect making it easier to transfer women/young girls and because of the boats leaving and entering Sacramento
It meant a lot to me seeing you shedding light to the issue.
Cristal Torres there's a book and the story is about a mom who's kids are taken and human trafficking of young girls and they route them through Sacramento. Furious is the first book in the series.

Pretty Luu I know but their lips look so gross all covered in foundation. Whenever I have foundation left on my lips my lippies look disgusting so I don't get how theirs don't.
I usually wipe it off if I get any on my lips but when I forget it looks fine. I guess everyone is different.
