This is actually the same kind of maneuver that I always use in Web of Shadows. I usually start my swing when I am near at the corner of a building instead of the side of a building. This allows me to sort of swing around the building (in a semi-circular motion) and not swing onto it, that's if I want to make a full swing and get to the highest point.

Incredible swinging man. I love how you seem to follow the building switch rule of realism where you swing from the right then the left if you are traveling forward. This is how swinging should be. Smooth, effective, keeping direction and realism in mind. 5/5

It was tricky to do at first lol. I was so used to the other games helping me achieve the flow. Now it's all up to me and I appreciate them adding assist as an accessibility option.

One mechanic I miss from an older game (Spiderman 2 for ps2) is the charge jump in mid swing, working like a booster for speed. I know that this game is supposed to be more "real" but that's a real feature a lot of people can do is displace their own mass for balancing, jumping on dart+dash sprinting. Just a mechanic I think would benefit the games

I miss the Web of Shadows type of boost where you held the button until release. Was really useful, however in this game, zero swing assist would mean that can't apply. That'd be awesome if it were an accessibility feature sometime in the future.

In a lot of ways, you still can sort of do the charged swing but you would still require a lot of time and momentum (e.g. air dive or web-swing mid-groundpound) to do that compared to the mechanics from Web of Shadows.

Does the swings have longer arcs to kinda go around buildings with the assist at zero? Do you get pulled right and left to the buildings instead of constantly swinging in a straight line like the prev games?

Yes. Think of the 2004 tie in game, but there are times where gravity will pull on it like a rubber band and you'll go lower because of your weight. If you were to not use the left stick, Spidey will start going towards the building, so you need to use your stick at angles instead of straight on.

I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for but these are a few. My look speed is maxed at 10 The swing camera in this video is I think at 3 but I'm on 4 now. I keep camera shake on as well.
