I totally recommend you this language, I'm learning Italian for 7 years now and to be honest, I don't know if this song sounds better when you understand the lyrics or not, because for me it's normal to understand them perfectly, without even thinking about it, but I can tell you Italian language is really cool.
I'm Italian but I moved to Canada 15 years ago. If you are referring to the English Lyrics someone posted on KZhead the translation is actually very accurate. Unfortunately I'm not sure the song would sound so beautiful (musically speaking) if sung in English ( Italian is a much more musical language) however I actually wrote a letter to the band asking to publish an English version) it is a shame such an incredible poem (meaning of the lyrics) can not be shared in a bigger community. Cheapo to all you (non Italian speakers) who appreciate this art as it is... the emotions travel trough the music... even if the meaning of the words is fading away.
