Come home??? What are you talking about??? I know not of what you speak. How does one "come home"? There is nothing but home.
My wife is one of those avid recipe followers. She will under no circumstances deviate or make adjustments to a recipe. She cannot deal with moisture-content, cooking-temperature, or cooking-time variations. So, she perpetually overcooks, undercooks, overseasons, or underseasons the food. We've been married about 15 years now, and I do most of the cooking. I appreciate her efforts to make dinner a few times a month, but she is a lost cause when it comes to cooking.
My favorite quality is Chef John always encouraging people to switch the recipes up how they see fit.
you have probably the most annoying speaking manner of anyone i've ever listened to.
Nice videos BUT if a person watches too many of this they all have THE SAME sing song narration. Can't you just talk like a regular person sometimes?
"But not quite enough to google it". Hit the nail right on the head. Chef John knows me better than me.
Is that you in the thumbnail pic?
“That’s why written recipes don’t really work: people follow them, instead of observing and adjusting.” Brilliant
*announces fresh Cayenne pepper, the crowd stands up and applauses*
Love this. Fresh cayenne is great and I grow some every year.
This was more significant then meeting the end guy in the Matrix.
So many out loud laughter moments in this video.
Can't wait to try this recipe! Looks different and yummy!!!!
Lol
The interest joke killed me
Billionaire's Franks & Beans looks pretty tasty - my food wish now is Billionaire's Ramen Noodles - up for the challenge Chef John?
+Nick Ferry Billionaire's ramen noodles is: Go fly in your private jet to japan and eat the real deal, then fly back.
+dannyv233 But it takes about ten hours to fly to Japan from the west coast. If I were a billionaire, I think I would stay home and pay for the ramen chef to fly to me. :)
+Nick Ferry Go to Chinatown and get handmade beef noodles for $5. Better than most ramen.
+Nick Ferry Make Ramen mac N'cheese. Basically, you take a pack of Ramen, and a box of Kraft Mac n'cheese. Cook your ramen, but prepare it with the directions and cheese dust from the Kraft instead. Delicious.
TheBiscuitTickler It's funny you say that, because I call it "WalMart Mac N'Cheese."
I usually never comment but the 'something about Mary' quote gave me a level of respect for you and your channel that is unmatched by any other youtuber.
Sesame oil is my secret ingredient in upscale franks and beans. It really enhances the nuttiness of the beans, and with Kobe Beef hotdogs, well it really makes sense.
What a great recipe for a family on a budget. Sure, you can buy pre-made, but I guarantee you this taste so much better and it’s really not expensive. I love your work buddy
Haha, I can't believe you made beanie weenies. But then again, I sort of can believe it. The variety of recipes is one of the things I love about your channel.
beanie weenies are good. Usually take those on day hikes. Find a bush, puncture can seals, light bush on fire. Cooked in 2-3 minutes. Hot meal.
beanie weenies!! i could weep, that's such a sweet name.
I'm always up for Chef John's words of wisdom. Right on 👍🏼
Chef john you are my favorite chef ever.
You are my inspiration :) thank you for the recipes.
I've always wanted to know what fresh cayenne looks like but not enough to google it lol love your videos so much
I'm going to be making this one up! Comfort food meets upscale. Thanks for the time you put in, Chef John!
A wild Tony sighting
+D Lovett Haha. I'm as much a KZhead watcher as I am a creator. Probably more. ;)
+Old Nerd Reviews - Food Reviews & Product Reviews staged for views
+bigj2637 I'll let the fancier stuff to Chef John. I'll make the weird stuff :)
I don't even like franks and beans. I'll just watch anything Chef John puts up!
Me too....I just watch whatever he post.
I totally agree! For me, I HATE cheese. It is nauseating. Absolutely repulsive to me. He has made some videos with tons of cheese that left my mouth watering!
Same! 😂
Amen.
I lived on 'em for days and sometimes weeks at a time.. C-rats of course.. they weren't even in the same ball park as this 'recipe'
Chef John, Thank you for your time and effort.
Franks and beans! now I'm going to have that scene stuck in my head. Thanks Chef John!
+Paul Castro "Holy shit, look. Look, there's *Warren*."
Your humour - as always - is brilliant. Great idea for dinner, I'll make it! Thanks!
And as always, thank you chef John!
We love you Chef John! You're awesome
My wife and I tried this today. It's one of the best things we've ever had. Score another one for Chef John! Note: we were unable to find fresh cayenne pepper in any of the grocery stores in our town so we used serranos instead.
I found that what sausage you use makes all the difference. Very hard to find fitting sausages in my country. You want a firm sausage with high meat content but not a regular hot dog variant and not an italian style sausage. Eastern european style sausages works best.
Cornbread with onions, jalapeños, and sweet cream corn mixed into it go perfectly with this recipe also andouille sausage is a nice cajun twist to the tradition. My mother is from south Louisiana and this recipe, but with he things I mentioned is exactly what she would make when me and my brother came home from welding school.
I appreciate your franks and beans. always put a smile on my face
Great humor to go along with a mouth-watering dish. Present and future enjoyment. Thanks heartily.
Wow, so I'm eating this right now and it is the bomb diggity, even with regular bell peppers (because I couldn't find poblano). The broth was a little thin so I mashed up half of the beans with a potato masher during the simmering phase, and it came out just perfect! I used half white and half red beans, and the way the hotdogs look when they cook up after scoring is so fancy. Thanks so much again, Chef!
American Bean dishes rule for me! I love these recpes and i make them for a romanian co worker and he craves em! Joe from Germany
I'm from Romania and we also have this dish, with slightly other seasoning. Tell ur Romanian co-worker about "fasóle cu ciolán" (pronounce it as I put the accent, u'll impress her, maybe even score with her, good luck 😁 )
As a retired chef, I always used recipes as guides rather than something that must be adhered to for food magic to happen. I LOVE to watch your segments...and learn something new! Thanks.
Made it... it was awesome! I adore you John of Food Wishes!!!
I made this recipe today and I have a few comments. Dice your vegetable on the smaller side to reduce time sauteing. Be careful to not burn during this step. Add more butter and/or lower the temp if you need to extend the step. Also, be careful of salt. Hotdogs do contain a lot of salt, so watch salt addition during cooking of veggies and use low sodium chicken broth instead of regular. You can alway add more if you need to.
Boy, this looks delicious. It's probably more of a fall dish but I'm gonna make this tomorrow. This will be so good with some rustic bread.
Really enjoy you cooking you have a natural gift of cooking thank you for your recipes
not only that you cook great mister ...you videos bring joy to me😊
I don't think I've ever heard of anything that sounds as superfluous as "kobe beef hotdogs." Perfect for the motif Chef, nice choice.
Uncle Grim except for the Kobe Chicken search ! 🤣
Your videos are great! I don't even have to make billionaire franks and beans to feel good after a long day, I just watch your videos! :) On your chicken noodle soup vid I cried because you reminded me of my wonderful grandma that died about a year ago. Your laid back approach really speaks to me as an experimental cook. Thank you!
YUM.... thanks for sharing this recipe with us!
I cooked this tonight for my family and Boom - everyone loved it. Just so flavoursome - it is winter here. Thanks Chef for posting.
Thanks for yet another cheap, filling meal composed only of ingredients I can actually get in South America, Chef!
Chef John, you're awesome!
What's great comfort dish, love it !
He's the reason tv is dying, and if he got his own tv show he'd be the reason it would survive.
You gotta be kidding. That ghastly sing-song voice is enough to drive anyone up the wall. Has to be a put-on. Fail.
@@hrh4961 His voice is part of what I love about this channel! And the jokes and the cayenne pepper and the food!
@@Cave_Monster One cannot be all things to all people.
@@hrh4961But you're a dick in everyone's eyes...
HRH I don’t think....you have ANY IDea....on WHAT you’re talking about...so BE quiet...
I love u chef john
I feel like chef John is giving us all a comfort food hug through KZhead with this video.
We prepared this dish today following your instructions & it was fantastic! Even a relative novice cook like me can do it. Thanks Chef John for this culinary delight.
Totally made the bean soup vegetarian version because my buddy who is visiting is currently not eating meat - we suspect he's confused 🤣 Anyway, it came out great. Adding sour cream and crushed tortilla chips made it something absolutely phenomenal. Thx for the recipe Chef. BTW, on this new house subscription venture - start selling mortar and pestle sets, freakishly small wooden spoons and such. You're the best!
Assuming someone hasn't already mentioned it, Chef John, a high-end chorizo sausage would make for a "richer" taste.
But it wouldn't be "Franks" and beans, LOL.
Chorizo is crumbly when you cook it. It wouldn't hold the shape of the franks.
Thank you chef for making my day a little better than it already was
Incredible. Something so simple and basic turned into something surprisingly amazing
The Musical Fruit.... Oh yea! That is Awesome Chef!! Thanks :)
Recipe pork n beans with hot dog casserole
When my spine and shoulder allow me to cook again, I’m going to make this. Needs some Honey Cornbread!
DevInvest honey jalapeño cornbread!!
Get well soon! Eat hearty!!
omg....jaw dropping recipe....can't wait to try it....
Elevating the common food to the uncommon. Nice. Thank you for this video!
YES... I'm not the only one that eats my frank and beans with buttered toast 😋
Doesn't everyone? lol
+Areeane I eat mine with cream cheese on toast =D
+Areeane apparently not 😌
+Di Grenier Try it with some buttery cornbread.
+Moose Only Now you're talking!
"if you ever wondered what cayenne looks like but not enough to google it" his remarks are so me lmao
Thank you for the always unexpected laugh I get from watching your wonderful recipes. They taste great too!
Sweet Nellie looks , GREAT !
I bet this would be good camping. I wonder if anyone thought of that before Labor day weekend started?
Thanks John. I always tell my friends that I can write a dish down, but it doesn't include the technical knowledge.
Mr chef John I'm so excited to try this one I'll let you know later that I love it probably
Looks great,Never thought of this twist. We are broke and trying to feed kids,We do have a awesome garden this years so will have lots of different twist to help stretch the bean and dogs budget. Thanks again.
oh my god i loled irl when you brought the beans above the frank reference. you're so funny that i have to steal all your jokes!
I'm from Worcestershire so I am always pleased when you use Worcestershire sauce. I think this would be good made with British sausages.
Louise Ricketts I was thinking the same. I suppose the condensed texture of frankfurters makes them more suitable for cooking in a sauce like this after being sliced, because they will stay intact better than the more loosely textured British sausage, but I'm always worried when eating hot dogs/frankfurters/etc. that I'm unwittingly eating pig lips, anuses and connective tissue along with the real meat. The dish that Chef John serves up looks great, but I think I'll try it with sausages from my local butcher.
Glad I stumbled on to this channel. 💯
Can't wait to try this recipe out. Just can't do it. But I love the thought. AWESOME!!!
A toasted and buttered potato roll would go great with dem beans! :D
"..and give it the ooold smasha-smasha" ..I actually saw that coming!
You never disappoint!!!
That looks fantastic!
No way. I randomly happened upon a Chef John recipe with FRESH CAYENNE! 😱
Just so all viewers know. By law, "Hot Dogs" may contain beef, pork and/or chicken. "Franks" or "Frankfurters" must contain nothing but beef.
You left out Turkey. Turkey falls under hot dogs too.
This is not true, not even close to truth. LOL Nice try though
kzhead.info/sun/ZbKzhdFvjHd7fJE/bejne.html
Pretty sure there's no laws about hotdogs
Well, in Germany, where Frankfurters come from, they contain nothing but pork.
It pouring rain here and this is what we're having for dinner. Thanks Chef!
I saw the title and instantly though about "There's Something about Mary". Thanks you Chef John for that wonderful meal idea and the great movie reference :)
This thing just asks for kielbasa.
+alloverherbody Go ahead, you are the mastah of your kielbasa!
+rideswithscissors *groan*, good one.
+rideswithscissors I hear that chef john is looking for an intern to help with his signature jokes.
The Graceful Savage Pfft, more like an apprentice to keep his legacy going.
uhm actually it's fucking kiolbasa OK u fricking lil pleb
I know that cayenne pepper, like almost everything, is better fresh. But can I use the cayenne powder? It is all I can get my hands on this time of year.
Leo Romana NO!! Don't you know that you are never allowed to deviate from a KZhead video recipe?? What kind of backwater yokel are you? Just kidding.
Cool recipe thank you very much . I think that this is on the menu this week .
Chef John is a genius in the kitchen.
But needs a dot of molasses. Yeah, yeah, I know: we're the Kings and queens of our frank's and beans 😂
I like to cook my weenies first, to get a nice char on them. Remove the weenies with a slotted spoon. Then, cook the veggies in the rendered fat.
That's what I'm talking about. Did you grow up in southern USA? That's how we do it.
I’m surprised that that’s not what he did
wow! this looks so good
Love watching your videos, awesome
Hi.
German steel cross hotdogs.
Add a bunch of Paprika and it becomes a homage to the RED BARON!
ah, the comment I was looking for
@@nickytonik you seriously made me spit out my drink. Well done (:
Glad I found chef John. Never again need to wonder what to make for dinner. = )
yum it looks great
The hot dogs look like the German Iron Cross lol...
and their made from Japanese hot dogs!! Its Axis franks and beans!!!
This is interesting, but I wish that, instead of using a $55.95 pack of hot dogs, you had explained the difference in quality between skinless hot dogs and hot dogs with casings, which I don't think a lot of people are aware of.
This was awesome and I will be trying this! Thank you!
I haven't questioned one of your recipes so hard in a long time
I know who's gonna be my chef, working in that underground kitchen, when I become a billionaire.
The billionaires I know like their dogs sliced DIAGONALLY.
Barnekkid or on the bias
The Real Joey B I always slice my hotdogs on the bias. Really breaks up the non existent muscle fibers
The billionaires I know like their beans soaked and cooked
@@liukang85 So do I. Yum! It's the way I learned to cook them from my grandmother, the queen of beans!
Billionares like their hotdogs 'coined'.
Hey Chef John, I tried out this recipe last night and it was fantastic. Thank you for your videos and your recipes.
Looks like a masterpiece!!👏👏👏
Maybe you can come up with a billionaire's cornbread to go with this Chef John. :)
Good idea.
the OOOOOOLLL' smasha smasha!
Exquisitely simple and delicious! I could open a restaurant with this dish!
This looks incredibly good
who else chuckled at "scoring your weiner"?
Tony Payson Yes, I expected an inappropriate penis joke when he said that 😆
Penis jokes are always appropriate.
I was surprised not many comments on that.
I thought of a tribe of natives who cut their private part all the way down the middle as a rite of passage. Ouch!
I actually winced when he said it. 😮
Am i totally crazy if i think that a dollop of creme fraiche would look good in the middle? even taste good?=)
go ahead! you are the mastah of your creme fraiche
curaçaoën Yeah i know, but then i have to get up and cook :D
Creme fraiche! Where is my creme fraiche!? Have you seen it Sharon?!
Tal Kornfeld lol!
curaçaoën if ur trying to rhyme creme fraiche is pronounced crem fresh
Best cooking channel on KZhead ❤
yum!! I can't wait to make this!
