My impression with him taking the mic back is that its because Charlie didn't need it anymore since the cannibals were following her now. I have a vague headcanon that the songs are all diegetic (that is, actually happening in the story as opposed to being just a storytelling device) because Lilith is associated with music and her influence lets people burst into musical numbers whenever is appropriate if they want.

The start of happy day in hell starts with the residents of the hotel saying that Carlie is halfway down the street singing, the end of looser baby gets cut off by the loan sharks saying "here they are and they are F*cking singing" there are even more subtle clues that hint that its all actually happening in universe.

There is something genuinely heartwarming about both Alastor and Rosie supporting Charlie throughout this song like proud surrogate parents, Rosie’s smiling little clap and Alastor’s thumbs up we’re really nice to see for both Charlie and us.
Quick note how much Alastor respects Charlie. He trusted her with his favourite item and main tool. He was highly supportive of her. I do feel as if Alastor has a soul and isn't the monster the show makes him out to be.

Support asides, Alastor's facial expression when he looks at Charlie shows he is definitely planning something big for his own gain, but it involves Charlie becoming powerful so for the moment he is on her side.

I believe alastor actually cares in a parent way of charlie at least slighly since he seems to want use or shape her ability to guide and inspire others to his benefit, but seems slghly proud of it more than seeing his tool develop. As for the whole of rossie and alastor being like parents to charlie, its true they have done a much better work for her than her actual parents.

What's funny about this is that I feel like Charlie would have convinced the cannibals on her own eventually, and Alastor mentioning free food just sped up the process xD
Maybe, or maybe not - with people like them it’s hard to tell where their hearts lie. Alastor has an edge in dealing with them because he knows their culture well and the idea of free, exotic flesh makes a good bribe to offer them (which is something that Charlie would never even think to offer them…).

If Charlie has the same power as her mom to empower demons with her songs, makes sense that Alastor and Rosie were like "sing, it will work here", "keep singing", "they're singing her song!!!"
And that is the true strength of this character - Charlie is a quintessential failure hero: every time she tries to do something on her own it blows up in her face, but her actions (flawed as they are) inspire those around her to step up and do things out of the ordinary - from getting sinners to reconsider their ways to convincing cannibals to defend against the angelic purge to reforging a bond with an absent father that gets him out of his complacent position at the eleventh hour, her attempts to do things believed to be impossible (even though they fail) move people into action!
And alastor saying “she’s filled with potential that I could guide” whilst pulled a menacing face

That shoulder wiggle is the BEST. It's the touches like this all throughout the whole show, let alone just this singularly-amazing song, which really make it standout from the pack. I don't think I've ever encountered a more engrossing musical; it being so well/cleverly-animated really cinches it all together (a shame it has to be such a polarizing thematic backdrop but eh, zealots can suck it). For real, Western animation is always just getting better and better; so many fantastic & inventive projects in the last 15 years.

@@gsdlife09 definitely not pre-US civil war, the dresses were much larger. These designs are more Edwardian, so from the turn of the 20th century to around the early 1910s is closer

I feel like cannibal town is weirdly wholesome. I honestly would trust Rosie w/ my life, even if it isn’t the *best* idea
But that does seem to be her main ability - she inspires people to put trust in her! Whether or not that trust is deserved remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt about Rosie’s charisma and charm that gets people to lower their defenses around her.
When I was watching the last 2 episodes, I was already hyped. But something about the energy of this song got my so hyped I almost FUCKING CRIED.

I love all of Canibal town, They seem like an actually functional and somewhat safe area of hell, during the song they basically yell the message "Ooooh? You give us Angel meat? We are at your service".
Well, they're safe among their own. Alastor likely has a pass because he's also a cannibal, and Charlie is literally a princess. I don't think other sinners would be safe there.

Well.... "safe"... If it is still true, it was mentioned that anyone who doesn't confirm to canibalism towns 1920s style will be cannibalised, so as long as u dress like them you are safe. Also, unless killed by angelic weapon a sinner will recover/regenerate/reborn, so while beating eaten by violent cannibals sucks, at least most of their victims will live. So it depends how you look at it, they have a stable community and are polite if one confirms, but even their violence and horrible crimes aren't AS bad cuz most of their victims probably come back later (unless they keep them in the town as a living one person meat factory, cutting off bits and wating to be regenerated, which honestly sounds worse than being killed and eaten once)
@@aleksabanjevic8316 Possibly a metaphor for America in the late 1800's/ pre-WWI era (which looks like the time period the cannibals' hairstyles/ outfits come from), when its' democracy and society seemed to function 'harmoniously', but you had to meet the standards of WASP society or you would be cut out of those institutions immediately. And beneath that (or even on the surface, depending on the situation) you had appalling levels of racism, ethnic exploitation and segregation... People 'eating' each other, so to speak... maybe I'm thinking too much into it, but that's what I interpreted.
