Cockatoos meet each other in pet store, hilarity ensues

This is how everyone should greet their friends! In this video Max the Moluccan meets Q, a younger female Moluccan. Their excitement meeting each other is contagious! The two Cockatoos sing, dance and throw an impromptu party to the delight of onlookers.Everybody whipped out their cell phones to catch the party - after all, it's not that often that two Moluccan Cockatoos drop into a pet store to pick up snacks, have a play date and entertain the crowds. Max isn't quite sure what to make of the other cockatoo when she starts to show off, but he just gets louder and more excited. Max is the original Moluccan Cluckatoo with his unmistakable trademark Bok that he sings with joy. It’s hard not to laugh when you watch this 25 year old male Moluccan Cockatoo with a larger than life attitude. Max believes that all humans are ridiculous, it’s always a great time for snacks, and, of course, that the world revolves around him. His life is filled with adventures that he loves to share with his flockers. Occasionally Max shares the spotlight with flock members Tycho (A 23 year old African Grey who believes cameras are parrot eating monsters), Tikal (A 44 year old Amazon who enjoys saying hello), and his owner (a featherless biped who doesn’t listen). Max is living with his owner in his forever home. When he was ten years old he was rescued from a bad situation. In his original home he was living in a basement, and had a lot of behavioral challenges - screaming non-stop and biting to the point that he couldn’t be handled safely. He has come a long way since then, and is now very friendly and social. The Moluccan Cockatoo, also known as a Salmon-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis) can live 60 to 80 years. They are readily recognized by their trademark peach color with a brilliant Salmon colored crest that provides a brilliant display. Like all Parrots they require a lot of attention, nutrition and care.

    • @@mikevisby8744 Yep, and they can often be seen roaming in large flocks, sometimes in some regions with a couple of hundred birds in the group and they're as noisy as all get out. They can also be extremely destructive which is why you don't feed them. They'll literally tear your house apart, because they like to keep their beaks trim by picking at wood. Luckily, I don't have a lot of the Sulphur crested ones down my way. We have some, but they tend to hang around the nearby towns more, so I see more Galahs, Black Cockatoo's and Eastern Rosellas. They're far more easy to deal with, as well as the myriad of other Aussie native birds we have. Dawn here is an orchestra of bird song like nowhere else I can tell you.

    • The Australian cockatoos are in behaviour and talent type are different to these Indonesian cockatoos here but look very similar except for the headcrest. I can't feed the birds because before long it's 60 cockatoos that roll up to make the usual mess . They picked pieces off my Masonite sheets I had lined up and they picked some old Oregon pine I was saving. In an afternoon they wrecked the decking and outdoor furniture of a couple who'd had new work done to their balcony in Healesville. It was on TV news five years ago . They'll glide in long circles overhead in huge numbers and screech while gliding at 130 decibels .

    • Eva Karbanová Hi Eva! Thats really interesting that you think that way. I’m a bird trainer and rehabilitator and in all my years i have never heard of training away their personalities. Cockatoos are not weak animals. If they wanted to not be tamed and be with the human then they wouldn’t do it. Simple as that. Parrots benefit from being with us just as much as we benefit from being with them. Keeping them as companions is not harmful to them at all. As for ”speaking cockatoo” they pick up behavioural patterns and sounds they like in the wild too. They’re just doing what they would normally. Parrots are not brainwashed or forced to be man’s friend. There are rare cases of abuse og course but far from all are unhappy, and there’s animal abuse with every household pet. Hope that answers your questions!

      @lobrego4774@lobrego47743 жыл бұрын
    • @@lobrego4774 Hello! Nice to meet someone from this field. :-) If they are hand reared since they hatch, they can't learn some of behaviour patterns. I keep smaller bird species and we know that for example their songs are highly affected by learning. Only some parts of songs and only in some species are inheritable. As well as it is in other animals. I believe that if I wasn't raised by human, I wouldn't know how to be a human. Of course you can handle possible damage if you are careful, but that's not the case of every human-imprinted parrot you meet. I believe you personally know what you do and do it right and avoid ruining these birds. I know that there are breeding pairs where both parents were hand-reared since chicks. But thats not every case, as there are people breeding these birds just for a profit. I just am not a fan of breeding big parrots for a pet industry. They are so fragile personalities.
