I love the way people run right to trees and flowers and leaves, just marveling at the natural world and so overwhelmed by its beauty. They must have felt like outsiders a little bit, just hearing everyone talk about things they were never experiencing. It's like they finally aren't pressing their nose up against the glass, looking in, but are enjoying this enormous aspect of life with everyone else.

They're not seeing color properly. They will never see color the way a normal eye would. That's impossible. The glasses don't fix the missing cones and rods in their retina. Color-blindness glasses don't “fix” color-blindness, but they can make it easier for people - color-blind or not - to tell colors apart.

I mean I asked for burnt orange roses for my bridal bouquet and I had to tell the florist just what hue of burnt orange I wanted. Now these people saw red as brown and then saw red for the first time in their lives, I just cried with them, even cried with the ones that didn't cry! Red-green, blue-yellow and complete. “I am not going to get emotional…” says the man who hasn’t seen color 65 years as he cries like a baby! I have watched quite a few of these and I really only have ever seen one person who didn’t get emotional!

These don't work, they rely on viral marketing like these videos. These glasses add a red filter so colors don't look like they usually do, giving the sense of working. The problem is that when you're colorblind, colors don't register in your brain because you can't trust the colors you're seeing. But if you really make the effort to look at colors you can identify a lot more than you thought you could. Wearing these glasses just make you do the effort. When a colorblind person looks at a color they can't identify they make educated guesses, an advertisment will probably have red, so does a flower, and you know that grass is green. It's also not with all shades of those colors that problems exist, enchroma ships with 5 colored balloons to prove that they work. The thing is that all colorblind people can identify those balloons without the glasses. These glasses are also pretty expensive, and often a very thoughtful gift by a loved one, so people who try them don't want to upset their loved ones or themselves by admitting they got scammed. But the moment when you're asked to pick out something where you can't make a guess it all comes crumbling down, like picking a game piece in a boardgame. There have been multiple studies done about how good these glasses work and not a single one has shown people to be able to differentiate colors with the glasses that they weren't able to do without....

I had 3 favorite reactions. The first one was the young man at 2:00 in the white shirt when he put on those glasses for a moment in time he was born again after seeing how beautiful the world was. The young man started running around because he wanted to take it all in and view every blade of grass in color and admire the metallic colors shining off the vehicles parked in the driveway. My 2nd favorite reaction was at 6:45. The older gentlemen had just turned 80 and never saw color for the first time. He told his family "I thought I was going to have to wait until I got to heaven to see what color looks like". He put on the glasses and his age went from 80 down to age 2 again when a kid first starts to walk and talk and learn colors. "Is that really green?" He asked. Although he didn't break down sobbing right away you could tell in his heart that he was forever thankful to have the chance to see the world the way a normal person would see it. And my last favorite reaction was at 14:02 when a bride gave her husband the chroma glasses as a wedding gift. As soon as he put them on he began to cry not only because he saw color but because he could finally see the color and details of his wife's eyes. There are many things in this world that we take for grant it. For those of us that are lucky enough to see in color we should be thankful that we can see all the details and colors of the world everyday. There's many other people as shown in this video who wish they have had the opportunity to see in color like we do. Perhaps for some in less fortunate conditions that chance of being able to see the world in color may never come due to not being able to afford these glasses.

One of the most imaginative clips I saw, not on this upload, was when a girl got the glasses and she went to the grocery store and stood in the big vegetable department and put them on for the first time. All the bright colours of veggies just blew her mind.

I think a different way to do this video might be to have a colour blind version of the footage on one side of the screen and then normal on the other, so that people who have never had this issue can gain deeper insight into what these people are experiencing for the first time. Its so cool that they can just wear a pair of glasses to fix this - and that they come in so many different frames!❤
Great idea. Have the image be grey scale at first and then color when they put the glasses on. Go back and forth when they take them off and put them back on.

There are tests online for colorblindness. It might be the best example for people who aren't.
The glasses aren't really a fix, because they don't correct the problems that most color blind people have with their eyes, which is that they confuse red and green. It's caused by the green cones in their eyes also detecting red wavelengths. It can also be that their red cones also detect green wavelengths. These glasses block the overlapping wavelengths, which makes it easier to tell the colors apart. Sadly they don't help a person who's completely color blind.

Such glasses only help with color vision deficiency, not with color blindness. So the people in the video see colors even without glasses. But they cannot see certain colors at all respectively not the way most people see them. - - - Over the course of their lives, they frequently notice that they often disagree with others about what color something is and how the color affects people. They also learn what the colors that they cannot see are called, how they are described and what they normally look like to them personally. All of this helps them to correctly name the colors that they are now seeing for the first time. - - - People with a blue vision deficiency are happy when they see purple, yellow and orange for the first time. Without this glasses they see a dark gray instead of purple and a pale pink instead of yellow and orange. - - - People with red vision deficiency or a green vision deficiency are happy when they see red, green, orange, blue and bright yellow for the first time. Without this glasses they see gray or khaki instead of red and green, lilac instead of blue and rich yellow instead of a bright yellow and orange. If enchroma glasses didn't also darken your vision, seeing otherwise hidden colors would be even more beautiful with them. Presumably you could also do it the other way around: someone who can see all colors as the majority see them gets glasses with which they see colors the way someone with one of the three color vision deficiencies would see them and then has to name the colors. By the way, dogs see colors the same way people with red/green vision deficiency do, however, dogs see very nuanced gradations of the few colors they see. - - - Cats see reddish colors as differentiated shades of brown, but can distinguish purple, blue, green and yellow, even if they see these colors much paler than we do. - - - Birds, fish and reptiles see more colors than humans can see.

Street lights are a pain. In clear weather I can tell at night what they are by red being dull, yellow has a bit of color and green is white. If the weather is bad and the light is flashing late at night, I have to slow down to see the physical position of the light to see if it is a yield or stop. @@uteziemes5633

My dad was colorblind. It just means you can't distinguish dark colors like reds, browns, or greens. He joined the Army Air Corp at the beginning of WW2 because he already had a pilots license, but they wouldn't him fly because of his colorblindness.
My father's youngest brother was red green colour blind. When he flew his aircraft he always had to use radio when taking off and landing.
No, colorblindness is not that, but it could be, it is a whole lot of spectres, er see colors, not all do, but in general we see another part of the specter, no glasses can change that, these glasses have a tinting, it does NOT give color blind people normal color vision. I am redgreen weak, which means that I am prone to regard red nuances of green as green, and some nuances og green as yellow. I can see perfectly fine the green ,yallow and red colors in traffic lights, but not always the change from red to green in a charger, because the green there is reddish to my eyes, I see the difference between the lights, but not which is green and red. 12 % of all men are color blind 1% of women, why do makers of appliances make it so hard, use blue and red instead. Very few comorblinds ha e problems with that. Anyhow, this colorblind person was fooled, it just changes the colors, any person with a normal color vision would see the same changes.
The glasses have had a profound impact on me. My wife or kids look through them and see just standard darkening. I put them on and the green street signs on the freeway get lighter, not darker like you would expect from putting on sunglasses. The green just pops out very distinctly as that color is normally viewed as the same color as a dead pine tree stump. When I go to the grocery store the meat to me is the exact same color as charcoal ash and I always thought that the blood in the package was some watery mixture from water during packaging. The most incredible sight to me was the meat department as the color red is now so incredibly brilliant and stands out. I now know why fire extinguishers are red because they become easier to see. It was actually a bit overwhelming to walk through a store because it seems like 70% of the packaging of everything is the color red.@@perolden

I'm colorblind and I see most base colors with some confusion with green, red, brown. The problem is when you get shades of any color my mind can't distinguish exactly what they are. I was the first person a very notable Optometrist had ever seen and the other Dr in the clinic. I need to find out more about these glasses. Red, green, purple all run together and look brown to me.

This reminds me when I grew up near sighted and couldn’t see the world clearly at all needing glasses… After I healed from laser eye surgery i could finally see the world with my eyes I didn’t have to rely on glasses for anything, and I could see the snow falling outside my bedroom window clearly 🥹 it’s so moving ❤ Also I bought a massive ton of fancy sunglasses that I could wear for the first time 🤣

The reactions after these people put their glasses on are so touching, but it's when I see them cry BEFORE they put the glasses on that I really appreciate how painful an experience color blindness has been for them. I am so grateful that they have this opportunity.

Well itis understandable. It is curiostity to see the difference. Even when people get ordinary presciption glassesxor the first time , they take them on and off to see the difference.

Sorry but I have to call BS on this. I have tried similar glasses years ago. They were prescription, required extensive color testing, and cost in excess of $600. I got my money back. These glasses typically use filters to make reds look brighter and greens look darker. They WILL make it possible for you to pass a color blindness test, but that's all. They do not restore normal color vision. Don't believe me, ask a doctor. You can't use a filter to put back something that is missing in the first place. Colorblindness is due to a genetic defect in the retina cone cells. The only actual "cure" would require something like gene therapy to grow new cone cells.

Are all the people lieing? The filters are supposed to correct the cone imbalance. It's the imbalance that causes colour blindness. There are varying degrees so not everyone will experience the same thing.

Imagine what life really is based on those ractions for seeing something beautiful and impossible for the first time and where you get overwhelmed by it. Well, life is just that, its just that our brains got so used to all the wonder arround us that happns each and every moment that we cannot see it anymore. We lost sight how to be in awe, like new born child is, or like someone that can see clolours the first time.
After watching the reactions if the teenager was enough for me. Being a television vision controller, where the tiniest color differences is corrected between cameras I really feel blessed to have been able to perform that task.

It sets the whole world in a new perspective! This was there all along, but they were unaware of it. It's like becoming a real Christian, when God does the 'born-again' thing in you. EVERYTHING changes! You have a total different outlook on life. Nuances lost on you before, suddenly make a huge difference. There's this song: "I was blind, but now I see!". And this is only correcting colorblindness. And yet, the difference is HUGE and the world before looks drab and dull now, compared to the vibrant world God made for us. Congratulations to all, who have such experiences :)

My 3 yr old grandson thinks that all the world was grayscale black and white before technicolor. Figured it out all himself from watching old TV shows and B&W movies. Once technicolor took over, color was invented. So these guys are seeing like pre-1966 TV. Color, it seems, hasn't been around very long. So we are all new to it, really.
There’s a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where Calvin asks why old movies were black and white. His dad tells him the world turned color in the 1930s.

@@zoetaylor5017they are just red lenses. They slightly change the color of some neon bright colors but they do nothing for everyday normal use. I have spoken with quite a few other colorblind guys who tried them and completely agree they are a complete scam.
