When this song came out, I was 17 years old, had a fantastic girlfriend and my entire family was healthy and alive. Rather than be sad that it is 50 years down the road, I honor their memory and remember how lucky I was to have experienced such a great time in my life.

When this song first came out, it sounded like an 'oldie' from maybe the 1920s or 1930s. Discovering that it was a new song in 1970 really makes you wonder - what were the influences? The phrasing, the style of singing the lyrics, the aimless nature of the story being told, was NOTHING like the music in the 1970s - Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Clapton, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, etc. You heard this song on the radio, "that's an 'oldie' tune from the 1920s or 1930s" - it was nothing like the current popular music. It's a great tune but has a life of its own. It has a happy, aimless vibe to it
