  • Losing weight does crazy things to your face. I lost nearly 200-lbs and I never knew I had a jawline or prominent cheekbones. In retrospect, I've always had naturally great oral posture, for even as a kid, I hated breathing through my mouth due to the gross feeling of dry mouth. Always insisted on breathing through my nose.

    • was part of the forum that developed some of these techniques when they were still new to the Internet. So far, none of the guys I actually knew and followed have seen results. In the beginning, we were hopeful and thought we saw improvement, but after a few years it was still unclear whether we had had any progress. Several guys developed headaches, and one struggled with a sore throat and hoarseness. I have friends who still do it after six years or so, but except for the improved ability to breathe through the nose we haven't seen any results. Mike Mew himself seems to have simply developed bigger masseters (Jaw muscles). He looks like a chipmunk now, that's why I stopped: kzhead.info/sun/aMV_k7Boh6SXaWw/bejne.html I think we simply got used to nosebreathing in the early days. We saw a lot of pictures of dramatic improvement around the Internet, but I think they were caused by tilting the head backward, or favorable light, or even photo shopped. I spent a lot of time and energy on this that I wish I could get back, but at the end of the day, we are all different. Maybe it'll work for other guys. Some said it worked for them, I but I think they saw what they wanted to see. I started hitting the gym hard. That really made a difference for me. I'm not huge or anything, but it made a big difference with the ladies. I got my fair share of dating, and now I'm engaged to a beautiful, brilliant girl! :)

  • The efficacy of mewing depends on age and consistency. It won't cause significant skeletal changes if you're older than late teens, maybe early twenties. It does improve the submental region though regardless of how old you are.

  • I am a medical student and just as an advice i would like to tell everyone who is looking to get a more defined jawline, to not overtrain your face muscles with exercises because in the long term it can cause hypertrophy of the muscles and as they get stronger you will have more defined jawline, but also you are very likely to develop bruxism which can also cause your teeth to wear out in the long term and give you a lot of issues. Everyone can do with their bodies what they want, this is just an advice and if you want to confirm the information i just gave you, i encourage you to do a research of your own on trustable sources so that you can decide what's the best for you :)

  • I can appreciate that she's trying to help people who struggle with poor facial genetics, but let's be completely honest about this, none of these options(apart from the tip on losing weight, you still need to have good jaw bone structure to show once that weight is gone)can make a noticeable difference to your jawline/chin. The only option with real results is plastic surgery. I've tried every single technique under the sun, including mewing, those rubber jaw exercisers that you chew on, been breathing through my nose my entire life and I've even lowered my body fat to 17%...still no jawline, simply because I lack the bone structure. I'm saving money and will be going for a wraparound jaw implant, life's too short to not be happy with what you see in the mirror.

    @Mist3rEM@Mist3rEM Жыл бұрын
    • Facts. Get that implant and slay those biddies.

      @derrick2251@derrick2251 Жыл бұрын
    • 17% is still kinda high for an aesthetic focus. Try to hit 12%. Also men in general harbor more face fat than women so if you really want a super lean/model face you want to be sub 10% body fat

      @hassanraja3212@hassanraja3212 Жыл бұрын
    • @@hassanraja3212 I'm not gonna starve myself for a few mm of jawline, sub 10% body fat is both dangerous and very hard to maintain, the effort and health risks that come with being that lean are far greater than spending 5k on an implant that's fitted in 30 minutes under local anesthesia and almost zero side effects.

      @Mist3rEM@Mist3rEM Жыл бұрын
    • @@Mist3rEM ok but 12% vs 17% is still a huge difference and any man can consistently stay at 12% with a little willpower, seems like you just want an easy way out

  • As a fine art portrait photographer, I notice and appreciate physical features more than the average person, thus I can confirm that a sharp jaw line and sculpted neck on both men AND women look striking and magnificent. I guarantee women with a nice jaw are much more eye-catching to men, most men just don’t think of that as something to say they find attractive in a woman.

    @StruttinStrayCat@StruttinStrayCat Жыл бұрын
  • Nice video, thanks! Would be nice if you did one for other body parts as well. Abs/stomach region for example. One tip for that that I heard years ago is this: Where ever you are right now, suck in your "gut". Standing, sitting, whatever, just suck in your gut right now. This is your default. Reduce the urge to push out your stomach in a relaxing fashion as much as possible. Try and remain at default as much as possible, and it will become natural.

    @Carsickness86@Carsickness86 Жыл бұрын
    • Do not do that. Stomach fat is only reduced by diet and exercise to be in a calorie deficit

      @Dylan-ko2gj@Dylan-ko2gj Жыл бұрын
    • @@Dylan-ko2gj not talking about stomach fat reduction. Talking about the difference between not letting gut hang out in a relaxed fashion all the time. Similar to her comparison of mouth breathing vs nose breathing. Try it right now with whatever position your in. Don't need to flex. Just need to suck it in, and make that your default. See how long you can hold it, and then try and keep it like that as much as possible

      @Carsickness86@Carsickness86 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Carsickness86 Why? What is the benefit of doing this?

      @suge8347@suge8347 Жыл бұрын
    • @@suge8347 keeps your core tight, and in a more appealing natural state then to just having your gut hang out. Again, comparing to Courtney' example of mouth breathing, if you just have your jaw hanging loose, and your tongue adding to that weight as well as gravity, then it tends to sag your jaw, and you get more of a double chin thing going on. Same goes for just letting your gut hang out. You're stretching your skin out, your gut will get more and more pronounced, and your core will be weaker. Just simply sucking in your gut and making that your natural default will help to combat this.

      @Carsickness86@Carsickness86 Жыл бұрын
    • Not hundred percent sure but, I think when you suck in, you work your transverse abdomi muscles which is underneath your rectus abdominus(abs). Arnold was quite famous for doing the vacuum pose but not sure if that creates the same result. But from experience tucking in definitely makes you look slimmer

  • I tried mewing, only to realize my tongue doesn't fit on the roof of my mouth because the upper teeth get in the way and it's super uncomfortable feeling my tongue push against my back teeth all the time ... but: Mewing CAN absolutely harm you if not done correctly. Since what it does is primarily exercising the jaw muscles, if you exercise them incorrectly, you can develop imbalances which can at worst dislocate your jaw.

  • The rounded neck with head forward posture can also be corrected with face pull exercises at the gym. Cable extension machine with the long rope, light weight, arms extended and slowly draw backward toward your face keeping the thumbs pointing rearward so they are always farther back than the elbows. Hold the weight back for a second or two and repeat for ten reps and three sets. This will strengthen the upper back muscles that keep the head pulled up and back.

  • People that sleep with their mouth open will learn that they do it because either there will be complaints of snoring, or they will be suddenly woken up multiple times during the night because their tongue collapses and they can't breathe. Mouth taping is definitely a thing but I prefer years of practice with meditation, and using my body pillow to go under my chin so that my next stay straight and my mouth stays shut. If you sleep on your back it can be difficult and if you sleep on your left side just know your liver is so big and so heavy that it is putting pressure on your lungs and your heart so you are decreasing the efficiency of your sleep. Just saying

  • At the point of me putting in this comment, I'll be going back to college after a five year hiatus. I'll be doing sports, so I intend to talk with some of the adults about effective ways of helping my jawline and the overall look on my face. This is because every time I look in a mirror, I just hate my face. It's too fat and I have a double chin which despite being small just looks ugly to me, and then when I look at my brothers face, it's so much more refined and handsome.

  • I wasn't a mouth breather until Covid. The mask kept blowing air into my glasses and fogging them up. So I got into a habit of breathing out my mouth, but breathing downward and I haven't broken the habit despite no longer using masks.

  • Okay... yes to all of this stuff as it probably does something but imo the most important thing is to just lose weight and gain some muscle. If you're a dude in the higher bodyfat% range then cutting down to like 8%-12% can have an immense impact on your jawline. Increasing your muscle mass will also help you carry your weight better and in my experience it actually adds a bit to your face too, although I'm not sure if this is just a result of getting leaner. Oftentimes the jawline is already there and just hidden under fat.

    • @@sosa2153 I'd say that's about it. I suggest also doing some weight training but that's up to you. P.S. you'll burn more calories with less effort but more time spent if you just walk a lot. Controlling your diet and eating in a caloric deficit WILL get you results, you don't want to go crazy with it though, oftentimes people rebound.

    • Sounding like a gym bro.... you don't have to go through a bulking phase and a cutting phase to put on weight, you just have to learn how to balance carbohydrates and never decrease the amount of protein you consume. And if you want a better jawline of course don't drink your calories and don't drink your protein
