DeSantis blasts Biden: "I am standing in your way"
One day after President Joe Biden criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is spiking again in Florida, the governor fired back.
"If you're coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I'm standing in your way," DeSantis defiantly responded on Wednesday. "If you're trying to deny kids a proper in-person education, I'm going to stand in your way and stand up for the kids in Florida. If you're trying to restrict people and impose mandates and ruin their jobs and livelihood; if you are trying to lock people down, I am standing in your way. I am standing for the people of Florida."
He finished by saying, "Why don't you do your job, why don't you get this border secure? Until you do that, I don't want to hear a blip about COVID from you."

@@dianarendon5845 It's not about immigration. We don't have anyone in a position of real power that's opposed to extremely strict COVID measures here in Canada. Hell, we've even had a curfew in Quebec. And we've been in a continuous "state of emergency" since March 2020. The police is also allowed to enter your home by force if they suspect you have too many people over for dinner. All they have to do is get a "télé-mandat", which roughly translates to a "remote-warrant"; I hear it only takes a phone call and a few minutes to obtain. I could go on, but I think you got the gist of it; it's pretty awful. I'm no longer proud of being a Canadian, and I hope I get to immigrate to the land of the free one day.

As a resident of Florida, I absolutely love my governor. If you watch his interviews his answers are not only on point, he responds honestly and within milliseconds. He doesn't even have to think about the answer, because he's not lying. No teleprompter, no scripts, no BS.

The three new strains are affecting children, unlike the first virus. They get tougher, stronger and spread faster We don't want to hear DeSantis play tough guy while ignoring the realty of this virus. Children depend on you to keep them safe no matter what your party is. Covid is real, it spreads quickly, even with no symptoms you can kill other people. It would be like having AIDS and sleeping around, but quicker.

That will pave the way for Governor Newsom to grasp the Democratic nomination in 2024. If that happens I have no doubt that DeSantis will get his ass kicked. Newsom isn't perfect and I don't agree with everything he says and does...but I'd much rather have him in the White House then DeSantis in a couple years. There's a reason why the media is calling DeSantis "the most dangerous Republican in the country." Yea I’m not sure what he said that was so wrong. He was empowering the people of his state, which is what every governor should be doing regardless of their political views.
Because each community should be allowed to what that community needs. A year ago he was saying he wouldn't mandate a statewide order because communities should be able to decide what they need. How has that changed? He is taking the opposite position he held a year ago, when its politically expedient to do so.

Florida ranks 26th out of 50 in terms of per Capita death while also having the most old people per Capita besides Maine. Most of the new cases are from unvaccinated young people who aren't as succeptable. Yes they should get the vaccine, but this isn't the beginning of the pandemic. DeSantis is doing the right thing. Do research before making stupid comments like that

And it has fewer deaths despite having one of the oldest (and most at-risk) populations in the US.

I'm pretty sure avoiding a lockdown and mask mandates where the Golden Girls reside would just be a giant cemetery where the wild life takes it back, unless it is not like the media portrayed. Here in Ohio, we lost many businesses. We had limited materials unless purchased online or to Amazon. The hardware stores here were selling their displays like they were going out of business. Since our two week lockdown with curfew finally opened up about a year later I am seeing business start to renovate. I'm still in line to get my roof repaired and I have been on the list for a year now. A lot of people also decided they did not want to work, but appreciated the unemployment checks and stimulus. Ohio is finally having interactions in real life which will help with peoples mental health. Even during those first couple of weeks of lock down there was a rise in new, first time patients, needing mental health services.
