    • @@TheDesperato Pretty much. It's easy to hate the scammers, and it's true that the majority of the ones Kit talks to are scumbags, but it's also important to remember that poverty in India is rampant and a HUGE chunk of the population live in squalor. The population outnumbers the available jobs tremendously, so even scam work like this seems better than nothing to many people. It doesn't help that a lot of people in India have animosity towards people from America and Europe because our poor people still live better lives than most of their poor people, so there's a good amount of jealousy and envy that makes them feel justified in ripping Americans off. The phone scammers are bad, but the people running the scam are worse.

The scammer told me, similarly, that he hates stealing for a living but COVID-19 forced him into the line of work after his legit call center job was shut down. He said most of them are educated and have families that they are trying to feed. I’m not sure how sincere he was, because I’ve had one other scammer tell me about the same before. They generally have a justification that they are stealing from rich Americans and that they can afford to lose that money. Seeing from Kitboga’s videos and hearing my wife’s stories from working at a bank, this is rarely the case, as they ruthlessly target the elderly and immigrants.

If you produce $100 of value for the company, most of that value goes to said company, and in turn their investors, while you get the breadcrums left behind, even though you actually did the labor required

      @elin4364@elin43643 жыл бұрын
