Attacking Masterclass On The Bergs! | Amstel Gold Race 2023 Highlights - Men
Amstel Gold is not far off the five monuments in terms of prestige. Although known as the first of the trio of 'Ardennes Classics', the race actually takes place in the hilly Dutch province of Limburg, with no fewer than 33 climbs on its 253.4km route. Recent editions have been epic, with a breathtaking Mathieu van der Poel victory in 2019, followed by thrilling but controversial photo finishes in 2021 and 2022. So, who will claim the 2023 title?

yeah to bad it was Amstel. But then again it's the Amstel Gold Race. But the region holds so many good beers. If you are a beer lover you should go there

Perfection by Pog and to slam that beer at the end was full boss mode.
Pogi had no mercy with the beer as well , hahahaha.
During the post race interview, Pogacar stated van der Poel texted him three days ago advising to attack at the Keutenberg, so he did. The rest is history.
Everything but the future is history... Me sending this message is history.
The medication taken 59 minutes ago, history as well.

Got a link?
Pogacar skolling his entire beer on the podium. What a legend.
Ben Healy, what a race! Excellent!
On a hilly course like this, Pog makes it look like child's play. Amazing ride.
And he housed the beer too. Well done, sir
He has the power of the helmet hair tuft back.

I think it’s amazing that the Netherlands is capable of putting on a single day race with nearly 3,300 metres of climbs!

Surely Pogi is a handful to anybody this year. Chapeau

@@chivacetana am not sure about your allegations here. Until he has been proven a doper, he remains the boss on cycling racing and will continue whipping everyone and bringing chest pains to you. He is an awesome strong bike rider and has been winning since his junior years.

Love the beer chug, Tadej!
Nice summary! Thanks for not giving the result away!
Ben Healy your the man, brilliant ride
I thought people were getting ahead of themselves calling him the successor to Eddy Merckx, but damn this season he looks like he just wants to win everything and he has the power to do it. The Tour de France is going to be really interesting.
Not if he over races beforehand like last year. Vinke's team will be mighty strong. Hope covid doesn't cripple Pogs support team again.
Merckx has hailed him as such. Not just for results but for the style - which could, as said below, lead to a bit of over-racing, just like Eddy at times
@@cuebj He could be well on his way, but it's a long road. 3 more TdF's, 3 or more giro's and Vuelta's, the hour record, same early season dominance's, and P-R several times. Plus more no doubt.

Best rider out there today....Tade playing with these guys...
it`s encouraging to see pidcock and healey sharing a podium imbibement, from a top field like that !thanks to mr kirby too for the usual top class commentary, 👍
TP is something else. Insane 😊
Why, thank you sir 👍🏽 😀
Pog should get a Non-alcohol beer sponsorship ) Chugged like a champ!
You can forget everyone back to Merckx. Pocacar is proving he is beyond reproach. I am so glad I had the chance to see a complete champion in my lifetime. Pay attention you it is unlikely you will ever see a rider of the quality Pogacar is...
So dominant... like a certain Texan from days gone by.
@@johnandrews3568 lance never dominated the cobbles nor the ardennes. before he retires he has real a chance to win all three grand tours and all 5 monuments.

This was one of the most ''foregone conclusion'' races I've ever watched, but I still enjoyed it.
It seems that Pogi got a chat from MvdP were he should launch his attack. That's what the news says over here. That was the exact spot he sped away. Keuteberg is a killer. I saw people park their bikes halfway in the past. Brutal stuff
How would Alpecin and mvdp teammates feel about that 😅
Tom drinking the beer like its a cup of tea is hilarious 😂😂😂

Great ride great winner great sunday!
Shoutout to that UAE guy doing the bike exchange. He was hustling like his life depended on it.
Has anyone got any tips for a good place on the route to watch this year's race? We'll be staying in Maastricht that weekend, and getting around via public transport, I guess I'm mostly interested in being on a climb with a decent fan atmosphere.
Down in one. Good man.
Pogo chugged that amstel like a king! If it had been a belgian beer, he would have asked for another! 🍻
Drinking beer like a boss! 👏
Neither Healy nor Pidcock liked the Amstel beer and what was Pogacar doing? He just dumps it down without batting an eyelid. 😂
Amazing win Tadej. Congratulation👏
Man, you invite Tadej for a bike ride, first he obliterates you on bike and then destroys you in a bar chuging beers like a champ
Grande Pog
Pleasure to watch. We are lucky with Van Der Poel, Van Aert and Pogacar
These last three years in cycling are the best since mid 80’s!!

Damn I so wouldn't want to be in Vingegaard's shoes right now 😅 Pog looks in top shape and comes in with a stronger team this year.
I’m not saying Pog will lose, because I think he more likely to win tdf, but I believe Vingegard is preparing fully for the matchup. No races that aren’t prep for it and some of his climbing performances have been amazing so far. I so hope it is a massive battle like last time
@@gettysb19 I agree we haven't seen Vingegaard's form so extensively. He is clearly saving his peak form for the Tour. The fight will be legendary.

Not even close. Compared to the rest of us, these pros are on another level completely. And compared to the rest of the pros, Pogacar is on another level completely.
T.P. is just way up another level
Why are they riding with Pogacer on a break?
To be the best of the rest😂😂. Pogacar's dominance is just a fact of life😁
Because Pog would ride away without them earlier otherwise and they'd stand a higher chance of being caught by the Lutsenko chase duo. It was in their own interest if they wanted to to make the podium.
Unbelievable.
I know it’s a lot to ask for but I wish these videos were longer. I just want to watch more.

Ben Healy wow! Glad they are keeping Pogacar on that slow Colnago frame. It seems to be giving everyone else a chance against him.
how long would it take a regular person to ride 250km? like 10 hours?

He hasn't won a GT this year...yet.
My fav commentator is back!
Braavo Pogacar!!!🤗✌👍😍👌👏✨
nobody gonna mention the fact that the other rider came close to like 18 sec and then the car of the director came and it was back to 30+ sec in no time.. not saying poga wasn't going to win but this was insane tbh..
Yep, never seen anything like it before! Camera motorbikes are normally the culprits, but this was insane. It happened multiple times when he went solo, and for long periods too.
shoutout for van Vliet race director for driving in front of pogi several times. he does it every year to someone.
I just really hope he doesnt choke in TdF 😢
Dude is a killa 🤦🏽♂️ He’s out to win everything he suits up for.
It's a but unfair that Pogacar is such a great cyclist and seems like such a nice guys as well. I think a we need a new verb in the English language: To Pog. meaning to ride away from the rest of the peleton with seemingly minimal effort.
AND Pogi chugs a tasty looking beer lol
Tadej Focaccia!
Like I said after he lost the tour he was going to I be a one man wrecking crew
I understand this race perfectly suited Pogacar qualities, but i think many observers will really begin to raise eyebrows if he's destroying the Fleche and LBL with only 3 days of rest before each race.🧐
Hard cycling long days long nights lots of saddle sores it pays of in the end the hard work
Is it the bike change or the rider
Poga is top of top rider in the world.
Quick sidenote, plural of 'berg' is 'bergen', not 'bergs'.
Great to see Pidcock able to go with Pogacar at least a few times.
And pidcock had almost 1 month training setback after a crash and head injury. I am sure pidcock would have been able to go longer with pogi if not for lack of training
Not that Wretch POG again ?
He’s also the best drinker.
Wow & how
As a former Yugoslav myself I can attest to the drinking skills of Serbs, Croats, Slovenians 🍺😂 my folks almost killed me as a kid growing up in this culture☠️ the hangovers always hurt more than the bike races do…
Not exactly something to be proud of. 🤦♂️

hey why don't you put the speed riders are going on the screen much more regularly... instead of once a race??? an important stat to us daily riders. also incline percentages... more important than fancy castles
That make me thirsty for a Yuenglings...
Without van Aert and MVDP it was quite clear he was going to win.
