FIRST: PRICE
From a BUSINESS perspective, it’s interesting to see how Tesla choses to price their cars…unlike most car manufacturers, you don’t have a lot of options with Tesla. This is done on purpose to be able to streamline the production process as much as possible for Tesla, keep overhead low, and build in as much profit margin as possible while they continue growing…and, I think it’s a great strategy.
TWO: GLITCHES
Half the time I go to open the car door…it just doesn’t open for whatever reason. So, in order to open it…I have to unlock my phone…from there, it’s another 50/50 chance of it working…and, if all else fails, I have to sit there while the Tesla app loads on my phone…which usually takes 5-10 seconds…and then, once it’s opened up, the car will unlock. A little minor annoyance more than anything…but, still…I hope this is fixed at some point.
THREE: PAINT ISSUES
In terms of paint quality…overall, I’ll be honest…it’s just okay, and while it’s probably GOOD enough…there are some areas of the car that needed attention. There have also been issues with under-spray between some of the body panels that were missed….now, in Tesla’s defense, NONE of these are actually noticeable if you aren’t looking for them…but, once you see it, it’s hard to miss.
FOUR: FUNCTIONALITY
This car pretty much DOES do it all. Storage is absolutely incredible…you have the front trunk, which I have NEVER actually used…but, it’s cool that it’s there. You also have a HUGE trunk with seats that fold down anytime you haul stuff.
FIFTH: SENTRY MODE
The small cameras around the car can used for recording motion, and then storing that footage on a memory card for you to view later. I WISH…however…that there was an option to LIVESTREAM the Sentry Mode from your phone just to check on things…that way, your car could almost act like a security camera wherever it goes…I also wish you could record audio with this, as well…so, while something is up to no good doing something, you could hear what they’re saying.
SIXTH: THE TOUCH SCREEN
When you’re parked, the entire screen turns into an entertainment console where you could watch KZhead videos, go on the internet, check in on Netflix, etc.. UNFORTUNATELY…to have access to anything that requires the internet, you do need to pay for their data streaming, which costs an extra $9.99 per month…personally, I wish I just had the option to use my phone data and tether that to the car to use.
AND IDEALLY…at some point in the future…I’d like for the touch screen to be customizable, where you can re-arrange the icons depending on your own preference, similar to an iPhone.
But, on a more positive note…overall, my ownership experience with Tesla has - by far - been INCREDIBLY enjoyable. The minor annoyances are really just that…minor…and, overall, I LOVE the car, and in a way - it’s spoiled me from enjoying anything else. I literally wouldn’t get another car besides a Tesla at this point, just because I like it so much.
This is the only car, too, that just gets BETTER with time, as weird as it is to say. Tesla constantly releases updates every month or so that improve the features of the car, that increase its mileage, that maximizes its speed, and they’re constantly optimizing…so, this has only gotten MORE ADVANCED since I bought it.
HOWEVER…If I were to do it all over again, I do regret not getting the long range model instead…that would've saved me so much time from having to make extra stops at super chargers. And I should’ve bought the white interior…lesson learned.

that charging "glitch" is actually a security feature!, it prevents people from just going to supercharger spots and unplugging everybodies cars.
I realized this after a bit when I got frustrated with the charger on my brother's tesla
Of course. Still, why would you have to unlock the doors to unplug it? It would be sufficient if it released the cable once it connects with your mobile phone.
Seems like a good idea yeah, but it should be advertised better to the car owner that way the feature can be turned on and off. It's a great feature for when you park at a charging station, not so much when you have your car parked in your garage though.
oh that's a dick move on there end. you would think people have better things to do with there lives, then something as stupid as unpluging Tesla cars all day. lol

The paint problem is a serious issue that shouldn’t be happening coming from a big company like Tesla. The paint is not only the first thing you notice on a car but also crucial for its structural integrity and longevity due to the corrosion risk.
Not a problem anymore, have looked for this on multiple new 2022 model Y and 3s, and not one of them has this issue... but I agree, shouldn't be a problem on a "premium" car.
Once you find out how much the tesla paint cost we can talk 🥱 i recommend you research the cost of black and red paint before you talk and open your mouth 🥱🤣 GOOFY ASL 🐍🤣

8:30 this ain't a glitch, i guess. Its a security feature. Its so that no one can remove the charging cable from your car except you. This is helpful at public charging spots where anyone may play around by disconnecting your car and when you return from the coffee shop just to see 30 mins of your wasted time.
If you click the small button on the charger handle with your phone key in your pocket, the charger unlocks and can be removed
True that’s what I thought as well, like you don’t want someone just yanking ya charger out while you wait somewhere for hours
Also there is a manual key to release the charger accessed from inside the trunk.
@@scarsizzle5401 Yes if the car is booted up ( as it should be it takes under 1 hour to super charge). At a public slow charger when you come back to your car after 6 hours it will take a minutes for the car to boot up and release the charge cable. Best to get in the car first then release the charge cable instantly.
Also you don't have to open the driver side door. Just move the passenger side door handle 10 degrees out which will activate the car and unlock it but not unhatch the door and roll down the window.
Removing the charger isn't bugged, its because the charger could otherwise be unplugged by random kids on the street.
Regarding not being able to take out the charging port easily. There is a circular button on top of the charging handle. Press it. It will deactivate the lock and you can pull out the charger. No need to open a door or use your app.

Nigel Rowe It really is. I used to have lots of trouble opening the glovebox as it would curve my wrist in a way that bothered me, even though it didn’t hurt my wrist. Now I prefer to use the voice control.
The missing paint is actually a bit disturbing.
They're still having the same paint problems 3 models in. That's why they're going paintfree with the cybertruck.
Mine was manufactured in January 2019, and didn't have any such unpainted areas, except inside the trunk. But I heard there is now a plastic cover over the bare metal.
camaroman101 no, that’s not why 😂 where did you get that information from? It’s just the design of the truck
Far worse than that is that it chips off vastly faster than ordinary econobox paint jobs. Canadians filed a class action suit against Tesla for paint falling off.

Graham: there’s a specific reason why your charge plug is locked into place when you are outside the car. If it didn’t lock, a troublemaker could unplug it and you come back to an uncharged car. I had this happen to me in a Chevy Volt that did not have this feature. Believe me, it’s good the way it is.

Wow. You all are like really really smart. You people are actually the most inefficient m************ out there
YOURE SO DETAILED THANK YOU!!!
Being unable to unplug the charger is not a glitch... They did that on purpose... You lock your car, you walk away, and someone unplugs it. When you go back to your car, you see it's out of juice. Would you want that? Most likely not, because it also kills the battery for good.
Gotta give you a like for the hustle. You bought the car, paid it off with their own stock, and with a video about said car. Yes.

"Customizable similar to the iPhone" Kind of a low bar to be shooting for when all you can customize is the wallpaper and app order. Adjusting the layout would be an awesome feature with unique layout save options, and have it sync to your phone so when you connect it switches automatically. Now THAT would be a great addition
One of the most honest and accurate statements on owning a Tesla.
Press the right scroll button on the steering wheel and say, “open glovebox.” You don’t need the button. Does the same for multiple features like frunk trunk or windshield wipers or navigating or calling from your contacts
I think people are so much more forgiving when something costs so little. It’d be interesting to know how you felt about it if you paid full retail price compared to nothing after tax write offs and rebates.
Very helpful I’m probably gonna get mine within next year or two
I like the good things he said about Tesla such as sentry mode, auto pilot and the investing in the stock. Now I still think the company deserve a break since they're still new. I know its a bit of an older video now, but the reason why you can't have the streaming on one half of the screen is because it could cause distracted driving, thus causing accidents, I honestly don't see it happening until the self driving mode gets completed and is 100% accepted by the public as safe, and then it would only work while the car is driving itself

The white interior actually doesn’t get dirty really. My model 3 has a white interior and I was honestly really impressed at how easy it is to keep clean and how hard it is to get dirty. I’ve gotten some pretty heavy duty stuff on the seats too - when I did lithography work I would accidentally get pure black, sticky, oily, heavy duty ink on the seats driving home. Didn’t have anything to clean it off at first so I had to leave the ink there for a couple days once. It all came of super easily and absolutely nothing that has gone on the seats while I’ve owned this car has managed to stain the seats or make them dirty at all. @@masterchefmarshall I have heard about quality issues but im not really sure what all they mean. Im sure its nothing this bad (i hope)
The paint coverage issue is not just a cosmetic thing, it's an important measure of corrosion protection if you want the car to last longer than 3-5 years (which you are lucky to not have to deal with living in SoCal). For a even basic tier car manufacturer, this would be unacceptable. For premium car company, this magnitude of lapse in process control is simply appalling.
Especially if you live near a Beach or Ocean. I've seen a brand new Honda start to rust after 3 years and Honda refuse to fix or replace it because the car lived near a beach.
It’s aluminum!
@@lucasbrown1772 Model 3/Y are steel; Model S/X are aluminum. And aluminum can still corrode! (Yes, it is definitely more corrosion resistant than steel, but that can quickly change if it's exposed to certain environmental conditions, not galvanically isolated, or subjected to chemicals/salt).
When you think about this remember the Chrysler K Cars and the rusting through issues they had.

Sean P parts are pretty simple to get just stop by a tesla maintenance shop. Also since it has much less moving parts the maintenance is few and far between. No oil changes, nothing. Basically all you have to worry about is tires :)
@@seanp2434 Once upon a time, yes. Tesla fixed that a while ago, but a lot of the old FUD persists. Only real maintenance is basic suspension and tires that any shop can do. Then ever 50k miles you need to flush the coolant, but I've known a few people who do it themselves so I assume shops could too. Only thing you need to go to a Tesla dealer for is when you have problems with the motors or batteries (which is very rare in the newer models) and then you can schedule it all from the Tesla app. As a gear head, the Model 3 ruined all other cars for me. I LOVE THE TOP OF YOUR DESK
The spot that was sanded and not buffed out is 100% from the factory. I work in auto manufacturing and that’s what I do is sand and polish defects out of paint. Someone simply forgot to polish it after they sanded out a defect.
I've had my Model 3 since November and I can 100% agree with everything you say, apart from I'm still not convinced by the white interior. I would have gone for the extended range or performance model if I had know just how much I love this car. I did a 2,000 round trip from Oxford to Barcelona and it was effortless. I wasn't even that tired during any of it. I would recommend a Tesla, and I would only buy another Telsa from now on until the competition catches up.
How long were you on the road, a month?😅😅
"won't sensationalize anything" Proceeds to say his car is free because its a business expense.
I feel like he calculated his tax deductions as straight up cash gained from not paying taxes.
For the first year only

Great video! Very interesting! I think black is a cool color too though.
The Tesla app reception Of the signal in order for it to operate all depends on the strength of the signal. If you have a lousy signal your car is not going to open. Buy the FOB its a game changer, opens car door every single time.
The fact that there’s underspray like that is just completely unacceptable 😂

Most people wouldn't notice it because you have to be on a slight angle to see it.
@@metalmike570 I will once it starts to corrode my car lol, maybe in SoCal that wont be an issue
@@andrewpulle315 You should write or call Tesla and ask them to fix the paint issue if it bothers you. Mr. Musk seems to have a helluva lot of money now!
its crazy but EVERYONE in cali wraps the whip. even the soccer moms maybe that's why its not a popular complaint
Unless you’re trying to fit a 23” person in your trunk, the 22” tall trunk will work 99% of the time
You can always cut them up into pieces
Graham is an truthful KZheadr. I trust what he says.
as of last night 2/2021 auto pilot is $10,000.
split screen view will not be possible when driving on a single device. I would however recommend it be used separately as having it on the passenger where an airbag would be but then that would be dangerous. Instead allowing a screen to appear underneath a glovebox and slide out to then better position it to your liking. It wouldn't really be a great idea just for that reason and may be inconvenient.
