Nobody Visits This Country...Find Out Why

🇲🇩 Moldova is the least visited country in Europe. And so I came to its capital city Kishinev to see why...It did not take long to find the answer. Years of theft and corruption by politicians has left the locals of the country tripping up on broken pavements and walking past abandoned buildings on their way to collect their 40 Euro pensions.
I reckon Moldova's richest man sells spray paint.
I lol'ed.
Is that Morrissey?
The SAD TRUTH is he sells people. By thousands. Across the European border. He would sell your ass too, if he had a chance.

My son was fascinated by Russian language and culture, and joined a Russian-speaking church in his teens. He visited Moldova for his senior trip, mostly staying in Chișinău. He’s now married to a Ukrainian woman and they live in Kyiv. Or did until Thursday….😢Now they are in their car waiting to enter Poland. He has a great love of Moldova and her people.
Wow. Your son's awesome. I genuinely hope he's ok.
Is your son okay?

I’m much like this too. Not sure what fascinated me by the Russian language and it’s culture + post soviet or slavic culture but something did. I was supposed to travel as an exchange student specifically for the Russian language to Moldova, but Covid changed that trip. I got to go to Kyrgyzstan instead, but still, I feel that it’s this massive yearning for me now to see Moldova and speak with its people.
What a lovely story! Too many of us exist in a tiny, boring world.

Unfortunately Britain’s town centres are going downhill fast as well. The councils are out of money, the shops are empty and the public is struggling with the high cost of living.

I happened the same here as Russia after the fall of the USSR. The people who immediately grabbed power simply pillaged everything they could and left. Russia has dozens of Oligarchs who own almost all of the wealth of Russia but now live in the UK or Spain. It is the same with Moldova, all of the politicians in 1991-1995 simply stole everything of value and left. Only now with the younger generation is there a sense of national pride, and things are being built up again.
From what I heard, Chisinau shaped up over the last few years. Also, the fountain in Great Park got cleaned up and is now operational. My friend told me it’s a common hang out spot now

Are you Moldovan? I heard most of Moldavia wants to reunite with his bro Romania. Is that true?
@@juanrescudero7271 in 1918 we were all united, but then split under Ribbentrop-Molotov. I as a Romanian consider them compatriots, same culture. I have Moldavian friends and they also think the same and would love to unite any day of the week(like many Romanians do), but on the other side of the Prut it's a bit more tangled. For one, there are still minorities that appeared during the USSR and that don't want it. Many don't want it because of political reasons and consequences and how hard it would be to merge. Some people, mostly that use Russian as their main language(even though theoretically Romanian is the official language. Moldova has its own dialect just to make it clear) want unification with Russia. Moldova is caught in the middle. Stats say that 55% don't want to unite(someone said in an interview "even though I would love to unite with the motherland, I am afraid about ruining our relationship with Russia". Consider that they are near Russia and it wouldn't take long for Russia to do something about it). Back to the stats, 25% say that they want to unite no matter what and the rest can't decide. Even though many consider we are the same people and culture not all are looking forward to this. There are also some that feel that they wouldn't fit well under Romania. Consider that under USSR people moved around the country and not only the older Moldavians remaining in the area. Also some Moldavians just would rather be independent. So even if many would like to, even some are undecided because of consequences.

I live in Chisinau and would say that the video is quite depressing. Please come back and tell us the bright side of Chisinau, it's here for sure)
I met a Moldovan man here in the U.S. as a co-worker. Very nice person. I had heard of Moldova, but knew little about it. He would say, "Any day above ground, is a good day." Kinda told me what Moldova might be like with that one sentence!
8:27 "this city deserves more" written in red, on the wall to the left
and then there’s that tiny little “no” beside it
How this poor nation must miss the Soviet Union! Capitalism promoted a lot and only brought misery and poverty!
@@magnomaxx2010 Quiet libtard.
@@magnomaxx2010 Communism only fell in 2009 there...The Communists were still in power, even without the Soviets. Communism created the mentality that led to this situation. In time, capitalism will fix it, as it did in other countries.
@Yahweh’s Elect Yeah that's why Detroit is a derelict city too, right? Because of communists? Stfu
8:26 The red graffiti says the following in Romanian: "This city deserves something better". A great analogy with the video theme.
Thank you, pretty underrated comment
deserves more*
@@nailfairy17 same thing!
At 8:22 behind you, there is a grafitti saying "acest oras merita mai mult". It translates to "this city deserves better"
Crazy stuff bro! Let me know if you ever come to the states
Being a Moldovan who has "escaped" I really hope this video gets lots and lots of view ... And then even more. You've given a very good description. Thief run country
Absolutely true
Looks just like my city (Jakarta, Indonesia) except that my city's traffic is more similar to India's. At least you guys have bigger roads
Why dont you burn the country Down? Thats how we do it in Chile haahha
@Abc Abc ah yes, like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. Third world countries. Slovakia, terrible life there. Shut the fuck up, bitch
@@Tornado1487p1 Actually he said Balkan, not Baltic. But you're right. Not all countries are like that. In fact even Belarus looks way batter, at least Minsk is clean.
This is like an angsty teenager's heaven.
God yes
Thomas Kovarik exactly what I was thinking, this would be a perfect city to tear up with friends. Wouldn’t want to live there tho

Lmao
Being half-Romanian myself, a heaven to a teenager with angst, a full-blown nightmare to most people 😰
9:20 I’m calling it the wall of thieves 😂😂
Most underrated channel on KZhead!!!
I’m from Moldova. Moved to the US. Usually I would be offended at the comments on my country but they seriously only say the truth. Never visit it. It’s a beautiful country in itself, but full of garbage everywhere and a very very corrupt government.
DOGE the government is truly stupid and corrupt but how can you say it is full of rubbish everywhere, Orhei is a very beautiful and CLEAN city along with others, if you wanted your country to do better you would stop talking trash about it. At least Moldova doesn’t have sickos like America does
ChickenNoodleSoup With an Ego let me correct myself. CHISINAU is full of garbage. At least where I used to live, it was. But I’ve never really been to Orhei so I can’t stand for that.
ChickenNoodleSoup With an Ego also don’t deny it.. America IS a way better place to live in.
DOGE i wasn’t saying that it is a better place to live neither was I denying anything. Yh America has way better opportunities we already knew
@@doge8825 Where in America are you? It's a very large place.
8:27 - On right side of frame 2 meter wall of text on russian says: "You only go out after nightfall, like the rats, the cats and the monsters." That's from "Un homme qui dort", very depressing
Holy shit... A passage from un homme qui dort on the walls daaamnn
When i saw the vid, don’t know why that painting took my attention and I was wondering what could that mean... pretty deep, as sad... and as truth. Hope things get better for you Moldovian folks, you deserve it; cheers!
I love this guy. He is entertaining and informative with a good heart and obvious affection for the former Soviet people.
we should have a wall of thieves here in BR too. We would need a big biiig wall
When I was a kid, I fell in love with this boy from Moldova. I was at the Italy that time and I met him at school. I really think that he’s cute and kind. I used to chat him and he will kindly reply back. Sadly, I had to return to my country and remember crying thinking that I would never see him again. I tried to find his name in social medias but I can’t seem to find it. Wish I could meet him again and confess my feelings. ✨
That thought of yours will give him good karma one way or another. 🙂
@@jand3293 If I'm correct, there is no such thing as good karma
@@sincotrodium7385 who shat in your breakfast cereal... Would have been better if you just kept your mouth shut and not brought all that negativity here
Awwwww!!! Thats sooo cute! But sad that you cant see him again.. but don't worry!! You will get to see him one day!!! Don't loose hope!!!
don't lose hope like that bronze cowboy who waited 27 years
