  • Love listening in. My favorite videos include those wonderful, hard-working, Tugboats .

    • Me too. Especially the 3 G-tugs, the Missouri (my favorite) at 97, the Kentucky at 95, and the North Carolina at 72. Did you see the video where the Missouri led the Indiana Harbor out through the canal with the North Carolina as rear escort when the footer was having troubles? Mighty Mo was buckled down and showing how a tug can maneuver a boat that is so much bigger.

    • @audreyjohnson4599 Yes, I did view those tugs hard at work . My favorite is the Kentucky. My Dad served 27 years in the Navy and was from Kentucky. He was chief engineer and, at one part of his service, worked with a fleet of tugs..

  • This place is on my bucket list, seriously. I don't mind cold weather, so I probably won't go during the summer. Yes, I know how cold it gets up there in Minnesota! So anyway, could someone reply and let me know the approximate dates that the harbor closes down and then reopens? Thanks!

    • In practise the limit on Duluth traffic is the Soo Locks - maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers, and being enlarged thru 2030. Each year they publish the date - can't see the 2025 yet- but normally close 15 Jan and re-open 25 March. This also coincides with the ice season on the Lake - navigation may need ice breaking at the ends of the season, so the time is used to maintain the ships instead
