on JackSucksAtGeography we upload a range of easy to watch geography related games. We mainly play Sporcle games like "naming all 197 countries". I successfully learned all 197 countries and plan to learn more Geography trivia. On this channel I also play Geoguessr. This is a game that uses Google Street View to drop you in a random location and you have to work out exactly where you are on the worldwide map. Geoguessr was created in 2013. If you want to see more from Jack he uploads different content to many other KZhead channels, linked above!

  • My girlfriend and I have once walked around the entire country of the Vatican because we missed the entrance. The fact that a country has an entrance alone is so weird.

  • 0.19 hours isn’t 20 minutes. There’s 60 minutes an hours, hence, walking across the Vatican would take 0.19*60 which is approximately 11 minutes…. It would take just over 10 minutes to cross the Vatican and that’s just crazy Edit for people who’s interested (check the comments, I accidentally mixed it up whoops) In English, commas are used to separate thousands, millions etc., whereas a period is used to separate whole numbers from decimals. So two-thousand-three-hundred-and-thirty-seven point 5 would be 2,337.5 In my native language Danish (and probably other languages as well) we do it the other way around, so, taking the example from before, it would be written 2.337,5.

    • Actually continents and tectonic plates are not the same thing. A continents is described as a large landmass separated from other continents by a large body of water. Whereas tectonic plates are gigantic pieces of the Earth's crust and uppermost mantle making up the Earths surface. In addition, there are 6 continents of the world, but there are 17 tectonic plates and most of them (if they were above sea level) would not be large enough to be called a "continent", they would just be islands or part of a continent.

  • So basically, Zealandia was formed by two tectonic events. The first being that tectonic forces stretched and thinned Zealandia's crust until it was ripped from the ancient supercontinent Gondwana (more specifically it ripped away from what is now Australia and Antarctica) about 85 million years ago. This created what we now call the Tasman Sea. And then it was carved by forces that started the Ring of Fire

  • 1:08 I’ve seen variations of this map a few times and I think it’s difficult to compare countries because the paradigm of “fight for your country” is so different in each one. For Ukraine, and this is true for Baltic states and Finland, “fight for your country” means “fight to stop Russia invading” in practical terms. For the UK, France etc. it’s “go fight in Iraq/Afghanistan/Mali” for the geopolitical issue of the day. Not surprising to me therefore, to see countries where invasion is a greater possibility have higher proportions of the population who would want to fight.

The countries in blue (with the exception of Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Eritrea) were colonized by the British and want to speak with their red neighbors who speak French and vice versa.

  • 4:34 In Israel we're actually in a funny hybrid type of school uniform in most of schools for at least the last 15 years: only the top is a uniform (short/long sleeved t shirt and a hoodie for colder days, both are plain with a school symbol printed on them), while the bottom and accessories (shoes, hat etc.) are not in a uniform, but do have a dress code (not too short, no flip flops..) A lot of us think it's pretty stupid combo, though...

  • 4:11 I understand chinese but the pic is a bit blurry, so not everything will be right The description says every red spot is a documented case of cannibalism occurring after the qin dynasty which existed at around 250BC. These cannibalism actions were mostly done in war, captivity, imprisonment or some form of extreme situation and don't considered to be normal. The cases mainly revolve around a few areas I couldn't interpret but are not limited and can vary depending on the case. also it is outlawed to cannibalize and these are just incidents which happened hundreds or thousands of years ago, not just on a regular Tuesday. edit:sry for my chinglish English isn't my first language

  • 0:38 oui, je suis canadienne, et oui, j’apprends le français, mais pas avec duolingo :) (yes, i am canadian, and yes, i’m learning french, but not with duolingo) it’s quite common because most areas are english-speaking but it can be beneficial in the work field sometimes to know another language

  • I live in the mediterranean region, in an olive-oil producing city, and yes, we put it on salads, smal quantities tho, we also can use it as a dip with pita bread and Za'atar (Oregano-thyme and sesame seeds) and it's considered the (poor man's food) locally, but foreigners do like the taste of it.

  • 4:14 I translated it and it says: Chinese cannibal zone Chinese cannibalism map The picture shows the areas where cannibalism has occurred as recorded in historical materials since the Qin and Han Dynasties. It was mainly caused by famine, war sieges, and predation by armed refugees. Guanzhong, Henan, Luxi, and the Huaihe River Basin are areas where cannibalism has occurred frequently. Other scattered areas are mostly generated by specific historical events.
