Couldn't even take any time to be gentle and soothing and let the poor newborn enjoy his first day of life. It is so disappointing how hospitals are shoving people out of there 4 hours after birth like my sister was.

She just wanted to hold and hold and hold him until finally he stopped breathing. The autopsy showed his lungs were filled with remaining amniotic fluid and once he was out, the fluid settled. If he’d been rubbed thoroughly and encouraged to scream, that fluid would’ve worked itself free

Babies don’t need to be bathed right away. Their skin is very sensitive and they are born with a protective coating.

Yup, my first had a bath after a day in the hospital, my second a week after birth. Her skin was so much softer and her body temp regulated so fast, and my first struggled. Leave that vernix on if you can. She’s a week old now and just thriving

A sponge bath is recommended till the umbilical cord dries and falls off. The trapped moisture causes infection. Tye fact that this is a clinical setting blows my mind. Even my doctors agreed with my midwife about the no water till stump falls thing, described above.

You can say the same thing to a victim of a car crash. You'll be just fine, bar the small concussion you got, some ptsd and a few nightmares. That washing looks like a car wreck too btw. Totally unnecessary. Why don't they perform a C-section monthly during pregnancy to wash the baby and put it back in if he's covered in dirt that needs to be washed away. In reality, he has a fat coating that needs to be absorbed by his skin - it helps with elasticity, microbiome and immunity. But doctors and nurses are too smart and up to date to know that.

When babies come out they are literally wrapped in stinky smelling slimy stuff often paired with blood..so yes they need a bath so you can put them into some clothes so they are warm & They majority of all babies in this world get bathed right away and they survive and are completely fine y‘all🙄 newborn babies cry always it’s simply nature bc they train - it’s their 1st breaths & to get rid off excess fluids

@@gl1tchmania I’ve worked with newborns for 30 years professionally and babies do cry but this was borderline dangerous. The infant of that age loses heat quickly and cannot replace it on its own and can cause shock which takes a lot of time to overcome. Plus the natural oils on that newborn make them slippery and hard to safely hold. Lack of knowledge or lack of care is evident in this video.

Neonatal nurses do not bathe babies that way. That might have been the way it was done years ago, but it is not the standard of care now. I pray this is an old video.

I have never seen a baby bathed in this way! He has just come out of his mother’s womb where it is warm and quiet and then plunged into this! I realise that they are busy but could take a little time to be more gentle! Why not have a proper baby’s bath to bathe him??? That full tap pressure would have been shocking!

Actually yes it is. He needs to be cleaned of fluids and stimulated to scream as much as possible so his circulation improves and his lungs clear. When people give birth at home, they often don’t stimulate them to scream enough and as a result babies can actually die of asphyxiation on the fluid in their lungs

Let’s just say that newborn survived, but she’s never going to be able to have her OWN babies and she’s going to have to spend her life on a catheter. 😒

@@emmawieson2121 I understand that the hospital does not want even one accident. No one wants! But the reality is that if you look at the situation as a whole, it's about the balance of risks. I think parents should be more aware of this fact, so they can decide: are they willing to risk their baby's well-being with a high probability, just to eliminate the small risk of the hospital? It's really not the same thing. Most of the pregnancies and babies are healthy, so I don't think there's a reason for such a precaution routinely - especially when the child is highly stressed. Newborn stress can cause problems.

В СССР, в роддоме не купали, маслом стерильным подсолнечным (ароматным) "смазку" стирали, очень аккуратно и нежно. Под краном жопы мыли с хоз мылом. Потом маслом и присыпкой, пеленали. И мамам на кормление. Сейчас все будут орать про хозмыло, это органическое мыло и дезинфицируют.

I have had two. And the first they did this🤬 I could not handle it and started crying myself. The second one they did not do it. I let them know it was not passing. I gave him his first bath myself. Actually sinking his hole body in a tub of water, and he loved it. There are other ways to wash a newborn than this...This is the fast way, not the best way.

Couldn't even take any time to be gentle and soothing and let the poor newborn enjoy his first day of life. It is so disappointing how hospitals are shoving people out of there 4 hours after birth like my sister was.

She just wanted to hold and hold and hold him until finally he stopped breathing. The autopsy showed his lungs were filled with remaining amniotic fluid and once he was out, the fluid settled. If he’d been rubbed thoroughly and encouraged to scream, that fluid would’ve worked itself free
Babies don’t need to be bathed right away. Their skin is very sensitive and they are born with a protective coating.
Yup, my first had a bath after a day in the hospital, my second a week after birth. Her skin was so much softer and her body temp regulated so fast, and my first struggled. Leave that vernix on if you can. She’s a week old now and just thriving
That’s why they didn’t use soap. It was js water H2O isn’t gonna hurt a newborn unless it’s at a ridiculous temperature or if they have that Harly Quinn skin disorder.
A sponge bath is recommended till the umbilical cord dries and falls off. The trapped moisture causes infection. Tye fact that this is a clinical setting blows my mind. Even my doctors agreed with my midwife about the no water till stump falls thing, described above.

You can say the same thing to a victim of a car crash. You'll be just fine, bar the small concussion you got, some ptsd and a few nightmares. That washing looks like a car wreck too btw. Totally unnecessary. Why don't they perform a C-section monthly during pregnancy to wash the baby and put it back in if he's covered in dirt that needs to be washed away. In reality, he has a fat coating that needs to be absorbed by his skin - it helps with elasticity, microbiome and immunity. But doctors and nurses are too smart and up to date to know that.
Newborns don't need to be bathed this way, their skin is just developing their natural oils!!

This handler was efficient and gentle. Some of the nurses really hurt and confuse the baby with very hateful touches. This one was fast and Gentle.

You can't assume that they are hateful . Many times the videos are speeded up to give the effect it is done hastily. When you have 50 babies to handle in your job you can't give it the TLC that a mother with one can

They don't have to wash them. You can bathe a newborn or not in hospital, we chose not to. It's up to the parents.

Not cruel at all. First bath should be quick so the baby doesn’t get chilled. Swaddle them up and they’re quiet in 30 seconds.

@@gl1tchmania I’ve worked with newborns for 30 years professionally and babies do cry but this was borderline dangerous. The infant of that age loses heat quickly and cannot replace it on its own and can cause shock which takes a lot of time to overcome. Plus the natural oils on that newborn make them slippery and hard to safely hold. Lack of knowledge or lack of care is evident in this video.

I had the privilege of watching my son give his baby boy his first bath in the hospital. It was similar to this but the baby didn't cry. What an experience. My son is such a good hands on dad.
My son and his wife just had my first grandbaby 4 days ago. It is so amazing to watch your kid become a parent.

Never have I heard a new born really cry as he did. How do I know? Listen how the cry changes. Bath time is supposed to be a joy.
I've heard newborns, even slightly older babies, scream at bath time. Some babies just don't like water, others are just moaners who have no other way to communicate.

Many newborns are wShed in the sink, but usually in a baby tub. And not this young. At least mine weren't bathed like that. They only were washed with a soft facecloth.❤

Neonatal nurses do not bathe babies that way. That might have been the way it was done years ago, but it is not the standard of care now. I pray this is an old video.
40 + years. I've never bathed a baby like this. The standard of care now is not to bathe them for at least 24 hours.
It looks like they’re not in the US so the standards are different in different parts of the world.

It was NOT done like that ever. In 70 years 3 children six grandchildren and many family and friends with babies I’ve never heard of this let alone seen it. Bloody lazy and disgusting way to treat a newborn.
First bath should be in a small tube with very gentle strokes.
I would have used a pressure washer.
Newborns are suppose to get sponge baths until their umbilical cord falls off. This is why I opt for home births!

Absolutely. He's so cold, he's shivering and his jaw is shaking he's so cold. This was not the nicest way to give a bath. Convenient for the nurse, not baby.
Newborns are supposed to cry. Some babies lips do that when not getting a bath.

So relatable. I traveled from Florida to NYC during a major blizzard back in '06. It was so traumatizing. I was so cold i couldn't speak. If I could I would cry like this baby lol.

I have never seen a baby bathed in this way! He has just come out of his mother’s womb where it is warm and quiet and then plunged into this! I realise that they are busy but could take a little time to be more gentle! Why not have a proper baby’s bath to bathe him??? That full tap pressure would have been shocking!

Actually yes it is. He needs to be cleaned of fluids and stimulated to scream as much as possible so his circulation improves and his lungs clear. When people give birth at home, they often don’t stimulate them to scream enough and as a result babies can actually die of asphyxiation on the fluid in their lungs

I think parents should be more aware of this fact, so they can decide: are they willing to risk their baby's well-being with a high probability, just to eliminate the small risk of the hospital? It's really not the same thing. Most of the pregnancies and babies are healthy, so I don't think there's a reason for such a precaution routinely - especially when the child is highly stressed. Newborn stress can cause problems.

В СССР, в роддоме не купали, маслом стерильным подсолнечным (ароматным) "смазку" стирали, очень аккуратно и нежно. Под краном жопы мыли с хоз мылом. Потом маслом и присыпкой, пеленали. И мамам на кормление. Сейчас все будут орать про хозмыло, это органическое мыло и дезинфицируют.

I have had two. And the first they did this🤬 I could not handle it and started crying myself. The second one they did not do it. I let them know it was not passing. I gave him his first bath myself. Actually sinking his hole body in a tub of water, and he loved it. There are other ways to wash a newborn than this...This is the fast way, not the best way.
