No. You see, hope is useless because it doesn't do anything. If things happen as we hoped they would, we get a mild satisfaction for a bit of time. But if they don't, our lives can be shattered before our very own eyes. So, hope is more harmful than it is helpful.
Just because it exists doesn't mean it has to be usefull... For example anxiety
Just hope for the best expect the worst. Realism and Logic are the best. For example, a cup is empty but you have to fill it half way. It isn't optimism it's logic.

What you just described is EXPECTING good things to happen, thinking to yourself that it is certain that good things are going to happen. Hope is different. Hope is believing in a better outcome regardless of whether or not it is entirely certain, having faith in the possibility of good in spite of the odds. It's what drives us to keep going regardless of all that could go wrong, all that *is* wrong in the world. Expecting good things to happen is privilege, and detachment from reality. Hope - choosing to believe in the chance of good, and working to achieve it - is the driving force behind humanity. It's the reason we live in spite of the inevitable.

And yet, it perseveres. It can never be extinguished, as it will always be there. If hope is for losers, then I suppose that all of humanity's inventors and innovators were losers. I suppose that all of humanity as a whole, in all its coming through disasters, is a loser. I don't know how nihilism has become this. How "life has no inherent meaning, so we must give it meaning" has become "life is meaningless, so we should just give up."
