After his first performance on this Chinese show which was SOS. Dimash woke up the following day to find bodyguards outside his hotel door. Because there were so many fans outside the hotel waiting to see him. Today Dimash is a Megastar in China and is the first choice for many major events like celebrations of the Chinese New year or "The Golden Panda awards."

Omg, guys! You are so entertaining and engaging as a duo! 🤩 Yes, Dimash didn’t win because he wasn’t Chinese. It is my understanding that there was a huge public outcry because of this, so they changed the rules for the next season and Jessie J won. Dimash did win this episode, though. Then, the humble soul that he is, Dimash proceeded to ask his father if he sang well. 😂

I love watching you 2. You are fast becoming my favourites! Jessie J was backstage the year she was on when Dimash was singing Lionel Ritchie's Hello, & she was completely blown away by his performance. If you haven't reacted to that one, please do, it's brilliant. Dimash was there as a guest that year. Dimash stayed in China for about 3 years after his appearance on Singer. He did concerts, TV specials & even did a reality show called Super Shine Brothers which was great because his great, fun personality was on show there! He recorded an album while there & it went triple platinum within minutes of being released there! He regularly gets invited back every year to appear on their celebratory occasions which are always spectacular shows. He recently came back from another 3 month stay there working. Because Diamsh was invited to participate as the first foreigner and the youngest non-professional in the show's history, they had to save face and allow a Chinese singer to win. Furthermore, in my opinion, other singers were a bit better than her, Sandy Lam ( Li Yilian) as well. The other singers were 10-39 years Dimash's senior. The producers of the show invited Dimash as a "dark horse". After his first two performances, one stated " This horse is too dark." They really did not think that he would make it past the first two episodes. So, he may have won that battle, but he certainly won the war. Thank you for your reactions, I love to watch your channel.

Dimash didn’t win that competition in 2017, because that competition was for established Chinese artists, and Dimash was invited to participate as the first foreigner and non-Chinese artist as a wildcard entry. He took first place in several episodes, such as SOS, Opera 2, and Adagio just to list a few. Chinese fans love him and 2017 was the year that the world finally started to know who Dimash is. Love and respect for Dimash ❤

I really recommend checking out "The Ultimate Dimash Guide" by LiLaSi, it'd offer you some new insights you didn't have the first time you watched some of Dimash videos, and if you watch it with your friend you'll be able to discuss it together as you go. Said guide is split into 12 parts(around 10 min each), so it's not a huge thing you need to sit through all at once + it's very well made and easy to follow along without getting too wordy.

This song was originally done by an artist named Vitas. Dimash sang this on the Chinese talent show called The Singer. This was his second performance is first performance was of SOS in French. When Vitas saw this performance he forbade dimash from ever singing his song again because dimash did it so much better than he ever could. Vitas only went up two octaves where dimash went up four in this particular performance. Please go back and watch the version that has English captions and it shows where his father had flown in from Kazakhstan to support his son and dimash did not know it until after the performance and saw his dad in the audience it's very touching and shows dimash's true humble personality

Lionel also forbade Dimash from singing Hello ever again. So sad! Instead of appreciating Dimash's talent they are intimidated by it and try to extinguish it. Well the joke's on them because Dimash is quite the lyricist, composer, producer, performer, multi instrumentalist, director, musical genius and, of course, singer himself!!! I heard that Lionel loved the cover, but due to copyright infringement by Hunan TV broadcasting the performance without prior permission, there was a dispute. As far as I can find out, Dimash was not confronted personally. It was between the company representing Hunan TV and Lionel. Same with Vitas.
I interacted months ago with a woman whose cousin was on the inside in the negotiations between Hunan TV and Vitas’ legal representation. It was over copyright infringement. It was not due to Vitas being jealous or petty like some Dears mistakenly claim. The Singer’s producers asked Dimash to sing the song, but didn’t have the permission to use it.

As I understand it from someone whose cousin was in on it, Vitas did not “forbid” Dimash to sing Opera 2. HUNAN TV was in violation of copyright by asking Dimash to sing this without getting permission first from Vitas’ recording company.

One of these competitions, I believe was this one, Dimash took himself out of the competition so another could win. I read this on a documentary when I discovered him in 2018. He’s an amazing alien ❤

You mention the song has a Russian style-it was written originally by Vitas, a Russian singer/composer, who also has an extensive range. He has forbidden Dimash from covering this song now-I wonder why. And by the way, this is nowhere near the top of his range. Great reaction, guys! You should check out the longer version where he sees his father after he’s done singing, and then goes backstage with him asking whether he sang well.

Hey you two! It was really fun to watch you guys react to this performance. The story behind this songs high notes: they are supposed to be the wind howling outside the house of a lonely man. I think Dimash created this sound perfectly with his fabulous vocals, as you said it was such a smooth upward pull towards the high note, just incredible. 😊

I think if they got permission to sing it from the copyright holder before performing it, it could be sung again. IF. Hunan TV did not have permission to broadcast a performance of Opera 2, hence the supposed “lawsuit.”

Supuestamente Vitas le prohibió a Dimash cantar esta canción por los derechos de autor, pero la verdad es que el problema es que Dimash le subió 2 tonos más que el original y eso no le gustó a Vitas, pero obviamente prefiero la versión de Dimash, Vitas es muy tieso para cantar. También tiene prohibido cantar Hello 😂
