I grew up in Lafayette and almost every weekend my dad would load me and my brothers up, hook up the boat and head out to the Atchafalaya to go fishing. Now I live all the way up in Utah and during the summer months I actually take my daughters out to one of the lakes up here that have crawfish and we load up and have friends and family boils every few Sundays! These 2 hours were a trip down memory lane for me! I seriously appreciate the content!

Louisiana is a beautiful place. I'll never forget my first job there (it was remodeling the Sheridan, the first hotel when you cross the causeway on the right, in Metairie). We pulled into the parking deck, and I thought mice were running everywhere. It turns out they were what I now call, Palmetto bugs, or big roaches 😂. My idea of self control then was a bartender calling last call. Needless to say, I left the bar after sunrise the next morning, many times, not realizing that much time had passed. 😂 And the French Creole women, with that accent... Guud Lawd! 😁

I've had the opportunity to inshore fish all down the east coast to Miami, and I live in the FL Panhandle. I've taken some trips to LA before and I can verifiably say that South LA is home to some of the best inshore fishing bar none, and the most hospitable, helpful, kind, salt-of-the earth people you will ever meet. I call Florida my home but sadly the coastal towns of Florida mostly pale in comparison to South LA when it comes to friendly people and the sheer number of quality fish to be caught.

The time is almost priceless ❤ so it’s never about money or how much money I make just want to live comfortably and take care of my family and trying to stay rooted in / on what’s important

South Lake Michigan we staked out gill nets back in the 80s in Gary 2 nets a person wade out to top of waders with 2 people stake out and grab a full net to pluck on beach once in a magic while late April.:now you can limit out on spring coho in an hr

those white shrimp are the best tasting shrimp in the world ! sweet with a nice firm texture nothing compares ! that farm raised shit they send over here from other countries, well i wouldnt feed it to my dog ! i fished those waters many years ago with a family friend joe dotsy trosclair. the trosclairs were life long residents of arabi. Joe took us all over to fish for speckle trout and redfish. the trosclairs are long gone now but never forgotten ! i plan on coming back to st bernard this fall to visit. got to stop by rocky and carlo to eat , if there is a good guide you can recommend out of delacroix let me know. GOD bless you all, you are real people !!!

I’ve always had nothing but respect for the guys who go out every day and work their asses off to provide our area with the best seafood in the world. The guy who provides us with fresh wild caught catfish is amazing!! That is a grind on another level of physical brutality!! My thanks to all of the guys because I will never take another bite of any of my fresh local seafood without paying tribute to each one of them! I appreciate you bringing us this phenomenal video & awareness but I’m humbled by the back breaking work it requires for us to enjoy what our local habitats offer! As an avid fisherman, I see these boats harvesting all the time and it makes me feel sorry for the rest of people who don’t have access to it any time they want. Buy local and buy often; they e need to help support these local businesses as much as we can. Thank you Jared!

Hello great videos you make. Love watching your videos. Love the 2 hour video. On the catfish. How many lbs did he end up with. The shrimp boats how old are the boats and how long are they. How do the crew members get paid on all the boats in the video. If you don't mind me asking. Could you do a video on the selling of everything and like the deers and pigs coolers are made. Gar steaks are sold here in North West Louisiana.
I need to get me a new set of skimmers made for my aluminum boat. Sold them before Katrina. Been missing it. Haven’t shrimped that area. But would shrimp the nights also. But would get 4-5 ice chest sell enough to pay for the trip a some extra money an fill my freezer. Wasn’t a business for me. But a way to fill mine a give some to family and friends sell off whatever else. But been itching to start doing it again here and there. An running crab traps haven’t done that in just as long. That though I would do just for my household wasn’t running a ton of traps to sell any. But did that strictly for my own eating.
This compilation has a lot going for it. 1) Folks that know everything they is to know about shrimpin’. 2) Folks catching dinosaurs with whiskey jugs. 3) Fortunate catfish receiving an executive pardon. 4) A jambalaya mix that’s actually legitimate. Hot Rod’s. 5) Opportunistic dolphins raiding a shrimp net and snatching discarded baitfish. Can’t really ask for anything more.

im from iberia parish. in the past ive caught 6ft plus gar in marsh island on mullet. i dont like garfish but ill keep em if someone asks me to. it a fun fight with rod an reel

I am a charter Captain from Fl. My question is do u eat the gar. What do u do with them?How much do u get for them.Thank u
yeah nice garfish editing... but I get it they have some serious teeth... when I am fishing for largemouth bass in florida... I hate hooking a garfish I always think of them as a trash fish and a pain to deal with... I believe they can be harvested because they have no pressure on them and seem to be abundant... and if you can make a meal of them more the better. If you are using shiners to catch bass at a dollar a piece you don't want to waste them on a gar :) thanks for the video... I think many of us would love to be commercial fishermen but the economics of it are just not there for most of us. So I appreciate folks that are willing to do it... and I like eating what the catch :)

I ordered a roypow 24v lithium battery. It arrived April 29, 2024 with 0 volts. The battery case said it was 2022 battery. It took almost 8 hrs to charge it fully but it seems to be holding charge. I am concerned about the warranty period with it being a 2022 battery and I received it it 2024!
