  • I love Squash's diversity as a sport. Not only do you require fitness, speed and accuracy under pressure but also flexibility and creativity in shot choice. The sport mixes all aspects of other racket sports with additional elements. I also love the focussed 1v1 element and the intensity that constantly being within about 2 metres of your opponent brings.

  • Squash has had a incredible impact on my life. On and off the court squash has given me the drive to accomplish what I never thought that I could. I am incredibly indebted to this amazing sport for showing me the rush of winning, the sorrow of loss, and teaching me the perseverance to push forward and never give up. PSA has been a huge influence and I absolutely adore watching my heroes on court. THANK YOU!!

  • I love being on the back foot in a rally, getting run around, just getting your racquet on the ball each time, but persisting long enough that your opponent makes an error when they could have won it from the reverse pressure. Love the competition for oxygen between your body and brain when you're trying to think clearly and move and hit. Love trying to simultaneously see situations through your own eyes and your opponents. Love finding your own style and game plan from a myriad of options.

  • I love squash because it is a sport like no other. The amount of physical and mental strength a player requires just to gain one point is far more than one requires to win a full game in any other racket game. Not only that, but the precision required and the ball control needed to get your opponent scrambling or to hit a nick is crazy high. Squash is also a sport which I love to play because it just helps me forget all the problems I may be facing in my everyday life. Just to step on the court, or to hold a sqaush racket (or ball) puts a smile on my face!

I had never been too much into any sport before, but squash makes me happy and motivates me to keep trying to push my body and mind further in order to become better at it every time I play, and that has become an attitude towards many aspect of my life.

  • I love squash because of the absolute brutal nature of the game, both physically and mentally. I also love the fact it's still our little secret, the rest don't know what they're missing. Gotta say the commentary is a massive plus too, not many sports that can deliver on humour as well as action.

  • I love Squash exactly for games like that!! The tension that lays after every hit, the "oh my god he still got it" moments, the rush you get every after hitting a perfect ball that makes the sweet "squish" sounds to which I am addicting by now, , getting back up rally for rally and ultimatley love it for the sweet exhausting after 2 hours on the court! I am still sore from the Match I played yesterday, but this video immediatly made me pumped for the next round. Never can get enough, everyone needs more Squash in their life!

  • Best part about Squash is when I'm watching a PSA Live match and get to hear the hilariously witty banter between Joey and PJ. • As a junior at the moment playing in Australia, I love squash for many reasons. One reason is the competition in your age group. I'm in the under seventeens and I love playing as the competition is very high and you are always playing someone at the same level as you or higher than you. Another reason why I love it is because it has such a good feel when you get in the zone on the court as you feel like any ball is possible to hit and you just feel unstoppable. I could spend playing squash all day or watching footage of my game to always improve which is another reason why I love it as you can always improve and its the best sport to play on the planet.

  • I love squash because it not only gives me the pleasure, the adrenaline and the drive to constantly challenge myself to be better, but it also has opened a new window to the world in my life. I co-founded the squash society and school squash team in my university, which now has become a big, warm family. I have also met many interesting and nice people outside school through squash, whom I wouldn't have the chance to know if it were not for squash. Life is lonely and difficult, but squash makes it a more enjoyable and healthy journey.

I never thought I would be able to derive the same satisfaction and fulfillment out of a sport past my 20s, but Squash is so cerebral, technical, competitive and challenging. Its a lifelong sport and Im so glad I found it after I hung up my track spikes.

  • I love squash because it's so fast paced and pure. It makes for excellent stress relief - I can come down to the courts (even on my own) and just let everything loose. The thwack of the ball on the wall is so therapeutic - nothing else matters but keeping the rhythm going. It's one of the easiest sports to learn, yet you can spend your whole life trying to master it. I'll be down the courts for as long as I'm able, as often as possible.

  • I love squash because of the dedication needed. A year or so ago, I was always sitting around in my house, with nothing to do. I would always resort to my phone or video games because life was so boring. But then, I was introduced to the sport of squash by a close friend. Continuously I would go to my club to fix my form or to work on a shot. Now, instead of playing video games, I would ask my parents to drive me to my club, and they are ecstatic that I am taking up on a sport. Also, the sport of squash helped me with confidence for my body. Before I was playing squash, before I put all of this hard work into the sport, I was overweight, slow, short, and not confident in myself. But now, I am average weight for my above average height for my age! I actually decreased my mile time by a lot, because I have put so much work into speed exercises. I say thank you to the sport of squash!

  • There are many things I love about squash, but what stands out for me is how transparent you are on court - the strengths and weaknesses of how you cope physically and psychologically with what's thrown at you are there for all to see. It's quite a way to force oneself to improve.

  • I love squash so much because the sports is so dynamic and fast. With a racket, a ball and 4 walls, it is unbelievable that how many shots and tricks you can play. It is also a sports that requires a lot of physical strength and mental toughness, which is the two elements that make great athletes. Basically, I love it because it feels so satisfied when the hours of hard work practicing on court pays off.

No other sport tests your agility and acceleration like squash. Its also a great stress-reliever. Representing my local squash club allows me to play loads of different people with different styles while also adding a more competitive element while playing. Meeting new people and playing the locals at my club also adds to my social life. The best part is you can play whatever the weather as it’s indoors. Which is perfectly suited to the English climate.

  • Coming from Pakistan, you had to be good in one of 3 things; cricket, kite flying or squash! Tried my hand with the bat, didn't enjoy the part of being in the middle for 10 mins and then watching from the sidelines for the next 4 hours. After several cuts on my fingers due to the glass laced thread, I could no longer bear the pain of the regular dipping of my hands in salted water mixed with antiseptic after a round of kite flying. So, there I was with no other choice but to pick up a squash racket, way back in '87 at the age of 13. Haven't looked back since and surprisingly still going strong and top of the club squash ladder!

  • I love squash because it requires you to use your whole body which makes it healthy. It also offers a competition both physicly and mentally. Squash can be played by a big range of ages, children but also adults. I think it should be more famous amongst the youth because it is just great.

  • why I absolutely adore squash, a passage by vincent wong :) please take time to read this even if I don't get the prize !! "Squash you say? Isn't that a drink??" This humourously classic situation, in which I and many squash players may find painfully relatable, perfectly illustrates the current superficial attitude many retain towards this hidden treasure of a sport. Although this rare activity may only exist in the minds of specific individuals in our modern mainstream society, I find that it encompasses much more than the public percieves it to. In my experience, this "beverage" has gifted me with some of the finest attributes of humanity. "This is basically tennis with a wall! What's so special about this, eh?" Personally, I have been a ginormous fan of racquet sports from a young age. I held my very first tennis racquet at age 4 and since then have eventually progressed into badminton, table tennis, padel and finally squash. But why have I stuck with squash? What sets this seemingly average sport above others? The answer is simple. Creativity. In all the racquet sports I have enjoyed, it is squash that holds the vastest capacity for shot selection. There are simply an uncountable multitude of aspects involved in the synthesizing of a shot. Timing. Power. Spin. Touch. Direction. Each of these elements can be craftily varied to produce distinct tactical plays within the game. The lob. The down the line. The cross court. The drop shot. The volley. The cross court nick. The boast. Armed with these selections in ones arsenal, a game of squash can be made infinitely more entertaining than any other sport percievable. However, my favorite element of the game is undeniably the option of "faking" the opponent. In an adrenaline driven intense play of squash, it is no surprise that most players will uninevitably intrinsically turn to their primal intuition to produce animalistic power and speed to match the pace of the game. When this happens, a player's mind loses control of logic and consciousness, limiting the predicted possibilities of the opponents plays. It is at this moment when this mindset can be manipulated to convince one's mind that a different shot is being made, through the persuasion of certain movement. My absolute favourite fake shot to play is shabana's head fake flick cross court drop - one which I am well known in the team for succeeding 0.001% of the time. The utilization of this style of play also has the largest capacity I have witnessed in any sport. The careful selection of a certain type of shot as a result of situational awareness in an infinitesimally small period of time requires much of the mind. This is why for me, squash means creativity and intelligence. "Playing squash?? I'm heading for a swim, want to actually be healthy instead?" When I'm playing squash, not only am I having a fantastic time, but I'm also conditioning my body. It is a little known fact that squash is rated the healthiest sport in the world! This is perhaps my most prided reply when shallow friends attempt to belittle my sport. Amidst the rapid exchange to and fro the backwall and the frontwall, thousands of calories are dissipating and many many muscles are tirelessly being worn down, only to be repaired into stronger and larger bulks. The body becomes bigger and more durable. It is eventually able to complete more demanding tasks and endure more physically. Fitness is a vital element of daily life, and one that could potentially ease or even save one's life at any given moment. This is why for me, squash means a healthy life. Very lastly, I play squash for the sensation it provides me with. "Squash? How outrageously boring! Unlike football, there's no team spirit!" Even though I have battled my way through countless matches, I inevitably feel the same every moment I set foot on court. At first I'm nervous. My muscles slack. My heart beats as if in sync with an epic symphony. Waves of emotions flow through my mind. Fear. Doubt. Unconfidence. I enter the court and see my opponent. The emotions seem to melt into the forms of enormous monsters, encircling me, caving in on me. Suddenly, I hear loud whooping from above. It's my team. "LET'S GO VINCENT LET'S GO". The monsters scream with agony as a bright white light within me washes them away. Suddenly, new emotions fill me from within. Hope. Determination. Fight. I storm my way into the court, adrenaline rushing through my veins, ready to take on anyone whoever stands in my way. During the galdiatorial sparring of mr and the other brave warrior my determination never diminishes. I fight to the very end, with the excited shrills of my teammates in the background edging me on. Albeit there are physically only two squash players on the court, it is in fact the whole team down there, creating a mental ladder for which the player ascends to rise above the opponent. This is why for me, squash means a sense of community, team spirit, and irreplaceable emotional excitement. (Sorry if this passage didn't make sense in a few places! I am not a writer but I really love squash!!)

    • Wow, what a great response! I certainly know a few of us on the SquashTV crew who are guilty of the 0.001% success rate when trying to pull of the same shots as the pros!

    • Well written, very well. Everything you wrote is true, every emotion, every aspect of the game. "I feel You" I can say:) And sadly, sadly for squash - someone who NEVER played won't feel it, won't understand. I think this is why squash isn't in the Olymics (YET), bcause for someone who is outside court, who never been on court, who watches squash on tv or youtube - the court is smaller, the game is simplier, this is easy, there is no fun, nothing special, but...we know better and they are who really should regret that...they never played...YET:)

  • I love squash because you really need to think and stay awake. Estimating where you opponent is going, and what he thinks you are going to do makes it that much more clever than any other racket sport. Amazing workout and possible to match players of a wide range of levels makes it a great social sport too.

  • SquashTV brought the game back to the libing room. New camera resolutions and news cameraangles made squash more and more popular again. If squash makes it to the olympics at some point, SquashTV was one of the main driver of that!

  • I love squash because its is one of the most physically demanding sports while being an excellent strategic fun game, rewarding tactical and technical finesse, combined with fairness and respect for your opponent. Personally, I started for fun in 2009, improved in a club in 2012, made my trainer license in 2014 and now manage a small squash group on my own, since 2015 - and made good friends all along.

  • I live Squash because in an hour no other sport or gym work gives you such a complete body workout. It's a seriously social sport and players of any level can compete and still have a great game. It not only pushes you physically, but it is one of the most mentally demanding sports around

  • I love squash for how much healthier it has made me, the friends I have made through the sport, and the amazing opportunities it has provided me with. As a young man, this sport has helped me grow into the person I am today, and the sport has left me with the best memories of my life. There is nothing better than travelling to do the things that make you happy, and for me, that will always be squash.
