The Depressing State of Pokémon 3DS Online in its Final Days
As XY's number 1 glazer, its very sad to see what came of them after the series moved onto the Switch. While I pretty much stopped all activity on these games after I grew up (Gen 7 ESPECIALLY because its online sucked lol), it still does sadden me to see how disastrous they turned out. Huge shoutout to BlueBerry for getting background footage for me, like I said she was a massive help in all of this, and thank you to Kevdog as well as my GOAT King Zoroark for allowing me to use some of their footage as well. :)

While the GTS was awful, Link Trades were decent for the most part. Sometimes they were really generous too. I ended up getting a hidden ability Mudkip from one, aswell as a shiny Heracross just for giving some guy a Ditto.
I mean, Pretendo isn't supporting Pokemon games... yet

A few years ago, I returned to ORAS to play with a Glaceon my then-girlfriend gave to me. The GTS was a little weird, but it helped me put together a team for the battle maison, and that Glaceon now has the master ribbon as we run around Paldea

Maison AI is extremely predictable and cheese like mega Blaziken was allowed, that Glaceon got hard carried but still cleared battle 50 for the ribbon. It was also a sentimental Pokémon she had since she was young

I know there were a lot of problems with the online but in the last few weeks before the shut down on Pokémon X I managed to make over 10 successful gts trades with real people, I added loads of people onto my friend safari and a passerby even traded me a shiny mew!

One of the people with weird shoutouts offered a trade at random and gave me a fully competitive shiny level 100 Azumarill, before constantly inviting me to voice chat with her. I'm guessing the Azumarill was some kind of bait, like I'm meant to want to do freaky stuff on a 3DS voice chat just because I was given a Pokémon. I'd say about 1 in every 10 people were of the weird sort, this being back in 2023. I can't imagine how it would've been near the very end.

Yeah i was there for the PSS Shift and ye it was wild, i remember there was a mf who had his stats as "looking for furry rp" then offered to trade, gave me a shiny rayquaza then spammed me to rp and i removed him from acquaintances just because i didn't care for the mf i just wanted my free mon, oh and uh i gave him a kadabra holding an everstone in return lmfao

as someone who has played gen 6 for nearly 1000 hours i have never seen people being _that_ horny on the pss. like does the internet not give you all the horny shit you want already? anyway i was there on the final hours of xy online. i mostly did wonder trades and i got three shinies which was cool. people were mainly being wholesome saying "thank you 3ds" which i liked. gts still scared the shit out of me though

I never got to play the 6th gen games up to like, last year and didn't played the online until literally the last day and just did some random Wonder Trades, I got a shiny Komm-o from it lol I wanted to try the Voice chat, that sounds like either too fun or too deranged

Oh shit, I forgot that these games' online services would go down with cessation of the WiiU/3DS online services. What a shame, I think that gen 6's online was the best online the series ever had. Sounds like the place was decayed away anyways over the years, so I guess it's not as impactful of a loss.

I'm happy that wonder trade and GTS are dead as fuck. I despise all the hacked pokemon on there, either being given to you (with a website name you can't change) or crashing your game. It's gonna be nice to actually make trades again once the fan servers are up.
