As a Liverpool fan, I feel Roy Keane is bang on the money here. I've always liked him, especially after reading the first edition of his book years ago. Honest to the core. Klopp putting two of the starting midfielders into central defense, is a big mistake. He should be playing the younger centre backs to give them experience and a faster learning curve like he did with Trent a few seasons back. Gomez, Matip and Lovren when he was around are all injury prone and he should know this. Have a plan from the start of the season to either play the youth, or invest in a non injury prone first team starter to overcome injuries, it's that simple. Fabinho is good at the back but he's needed in the 6 position. At least with Hendo and Fabinho in midfield, we could always try to outscore the opposition to get results, rather than trying to be perfect at the back. Like Keane said, great teams overcome these hurdles, and find a soluton. Klopp is failing at that at the moment.

After winning the league last season all the Liverpool players said ‘the next challenge is to try and win the title again next season’. Wijnaldum even said earlier this season ‘if we win this year it’ll be an even bigger achievement than last year’. Roy doesn’t know what he’s on about
Strange how when City came up short City's injuries were highlighted and how it effected their title challenge yet Liverpool elude to the same issues and they're bad champions? Of course Klopp hasn't gone about his reasoning in the best way and he's made some very strange choices, most noticeably fielding a full strength team in the CL league when they'd already qualified (resulting in the long term injury of Jota) despite complaining about players not getting adequate rest. The undeniable truth is that being without your two first choice centre backs would have a massive impact on any team. If Liverpool had a full strength team and were in this situation i'd say yes it's simply not good enough but losing two key players effectively means they've lost four key players as they've had to fill the CB positions with two first choice CMs. Roy is entitled to his opinion but think he's overlooking key factors. Nobody at Liverpool is making excuses and you have to make the best of a bad situation but losing two key players and playing another two key players out of position is going to decimate any team. A top four finish this season all things considered would be a good result.
City didn't struggle for top 4 tho
City had already went back to back and defended it though and didn't struggle to get top 4
“We’ve had injuries”. So has everyone. City turned up without 4 first team players this afternoon.
Who?
@@AFMakers Definitely KDB, Aguero and Walker. As for the 4th one I'm guessing he meant Laporte but he was on the bench and didn't really need to come on.
we have the best cb in the world out for the season VVD and joe Gomez and jota injured these players are needed cos we have our two best proven cms playing cb atm . Next season our players will be back and we will take the league back . When everyone’s fit you’ll remember ur place
@@CP-zf9tq Your place is currently 4th
@@CP-zf9tq yall havent had major injuries in 4 years bar gomez and matip and your crying. city played with fernandinho in centerback but no one cares. kdb, laporte and aguero are always out and they are literally their 3 best players. imagine mane vvd and salah out wvery season for significant periods of time.
Leicester City has become one of the top clubs in English football.. Let's talk about that ✨
Their leadership is smart, smarter than it seems than the old elite, like Chelsea and Man United, and they’re sustaining success because of it
Leicester, Liverpool and Man City are the top English clubs rn.
Good point
Even after that helicopter crash 😪
Roy Keane forgot how Chelsea and Leicester had played after winning their latest titles. I mean the 2015-2016 Chelsea season and the 2016 - 2017 Leicester one. I am a Liverpool fan and we deserved this result but Keane's words about Liverpool are incorrect.
Liverpool lacked hunger and players this season.A lot of injuries and always lacked a result where they scored over 2-3 goals. The later stages of the season saved them hugely for their UCL spot as Chelsea and Leicester started to slip
I’m a Liverpool supporter.A drop of 27 pts from last year is just unacceptable.I agree with Souness and Keane.Theres a problem with attitude across the board staff ,management, players needs drastic improvement.
Trent has been appalling defensively.. However nowhere there to replace him
Aged well
I remember there was a discussion a while ago about Jürgen Klopp building a dynasty at Liverpool, after their league triumph. I wrote a comment saying it is much much harder than people think. Sir Alex winning the league 3 times in a row (and doing the feat TWICE) just comes into perspective now doesn't it?
Not to forget that during those two 3 in a row, he added a Champions League title each time, one of them being part of a treble. SAF was the greatest!
Fergie was different universe to klopp
SAF = GOAT
Fergie is different.. even Beckham still hides his wine when Fergie is in the room.
@borray s Guardiola has won back to back titles though.
I cant get enough of these Thats his job jokes hahaha
Keane spot on. Liverpool last season only dropped 5 points in the fixtures up to the end of February 2020. To date this season they have shipped 29. Home defeats to Burnley and Brighton on the bounce prior to the savaging by Man City. They also got hit for 7 by Aston Villa. They are having a mare and Klopp doesn't seem all that bothered. He'll be there 6 years in October. Time Liverpool started thinking about his successor. He's done all he can there.
