And the logic of "beating the champion" to be it has proven in many title fights in the past that it's quite Idiological, we've see many narrow challenger victories where the challengers deserved to win but where far from outclassing the champion, so if you where a slightly better fighter on the day than it doesn't really make sense why you have to outclass, or more than the fight to become the new.

He can win 3 rounds BUT you will NOT be champion when you get zero takedowns, the champion gets two & you most certainly will not be champion if you don’t win 1 of the 2 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS with is 4-5. Jones won both easily. The takedowns was the difference and the judges weigh championship rounds performance. Everyone that’s not a casual knows this but you all are so fucking dumb when you say Reyes clearly won that fight. He clearly did not.

Takedowns get scored no matter how fast the guy gets up, a takedown is a takedown. Would you not score a punch because it did no damage? Not score a submission attempt because the guy didnt tap? You controlled the guy and took him to the ground against his will, it gets scored period.

Iago Melvin Torres I don’t find it irrational to believe Reyes won. From a fighter’s perspective he just might’ve won it. But it’s also a point game and the judges scored accordingly. I dislike the fact that people would say for example that the 2 last rounds were the closest when 3 was obviously the one where it’s tricky to give an opinion, to me Jon’s takedown in that round won him the fight but the fighter in me thinks it wasn’t damaging enough to be called a takedown. 1-2 Reyes, 3 it’s a toss up, 4-5 clearly Jones. That’s my take on it and why we need a rematch.

Yes you can. He won round 1 for sure. Jones won rounds 4 and 5 for sure. Rounds 2 and 3 could've gone either way. But let's be clear, Reyes spent round 5 gassed, running away. You can't expect to dethrone the champ running away in the championship rounds. Reyes did a much better job than I expected, by he didn't win that fight...and definitely wasn't robbed of anything.

Me too I'm a Jones fan but looking at it again I think it was round 2 that was debatable but I had it as a draw for round 2. In championship fights yes those last two rounds are bonus rounds and even though Jon didn't blow him out of the water neither did Reyes and once again if there was no significant damages or dominance in the earlier rounds whomever wins the last two rounds usually ends up being the winner. I would have been happy with a draw and a rematch be made immediately.

As a huge Jon Jones supporter, I believe you did better than anybody else that has been in the octagon with Jones. Jones fights with touching out his opponent, but that's his biggest weakness too. You need to punish more on those opportunities.( For the rematch watch for the takedown) execute a flying knee after the counter he would never expect it. Capitalize on punishing him when countering will win you the rematch.

Takedowns get scored no matter how fast the guy gets up, a takedown is a takedown. Would you not score a punch because it did no damage? Not score a submission attempt because the guy didnt tap? You controlled the guy and took him to the ground against his will, it gets scored period.

LFA 359 There will be a lot of people who thought he could beat Jones. The myth of ‘Jones’ has been diminishing for a few fights - it started somewhere around the drug bust. Performance against OSP was mediocre, the rest since have not had the magic that made him seem like a god.

@@bacolando did we watch the same fight? Jones won. Reyes started fast with two half rounds at full pace then backed off. Rounds 3,4 and 5 did not go to plan for Reyes. He showed character in the third. Then lost all his momentum in the championship rounds.
So they gave that Jon's takedown points but gave none to Latifi about them... Keep it up WWE!!

Latifi ate shots the entire time he was on his feet. The round the takedown was taken into a account it was a close round. That’s fair. End of the day both convincingly won two rounds and one was close. Not even close to a robbery.

But by all means, there must be a rematch it was a very close fight and experience alone is what won Jones the fight, a more experienced Reyes clearly would’ve won those last rounds .
@Iago Melvin Torres It was not close, I hate this narrative, Dom won 3-2 at worst. The first 3 rounds were a clear victory for Reyes and the last 2 were competitive and could have gone either way, Jones was gifted that decision.

Iago Melvin Torres I don’t find it irrational to believe Reyes won. From a fighter’s perspective he just might’ve won it. But it’s also a point game and the judges scored accordingly. I dislike the fact that people would say for example that the 2 last rounds were the closest when 3 was obviously the one where it’s tricky to give an opinion, to me Jon’s takedown in that round won him the fight but the fighter in me thinks it wasn’t damaging enough to be called a takedown. 1-2 Reyes, 3 it’s a toss up, 4-5 clearly Jones. That’s my take on it and why we need a rematch.
Such a shame he fell short to Jan following this, so humble, great fighter, one day hopefully the gold will be round his waist.

Yes you can. He won round 1 for sure. Jones won rounds 4 and 5 for sure. Rounds 2 and 3 could've gone either way. But let's be clear, Reyes spent round 5 gassed, running away. You can't expect to dethrone the champ running away in the championship rounds. Reyes did a much better job than I expected, by he didn't win that fight...and definitely wasn't robbed of anything.

As much as I wanted Jones to win.. Reyes definitely won from what I've seen. I'm no professional judge or MMA expert. He got Jones 3-2.
I had it Reyes 3 -2 and I am Jones fan. I think Jon was trying to pace himself but meant he was down three rounds. Judges seem to score later rounds heavier.
But Reyes backed up alot in front of the CHAMP. You beat a champ by dominating completely or KO

Me too I'm a Jones fan but looking at it again I think it was round 2 that was debatable but I had it as a draw for round 2. In championship fights yes those last two rounds are bonus rounds and even though Jon didn't blow him out of the water neither did Reyes and once again if there was no significant damages or dominance in the earlier rounds whomever wins the last two rounds usually ends up being the winner. I would have been happy with a draw and a rematch be made immediately.

As a huge Jon Jones supporter, I believe you did better than anybody else that has been in the octagon with Jones. Jones fights with touching out his opponent, but that's his biggest weakness too. You need to punish more on those opportunities.( For the rematch watch for the takedown) execute a flying knee after the counter he would never expect it. Capitalize on punishing him when countering will win you the rematch.
