Fun fact: the Milk first or second is actually a sign of class: Rich people could afford the good porcelain that could handle the heat from the tea. Poor people used porcelaine or earthenware of of a lesser quality, which would break from the hot tea. So by putting the milk in first, the cups were less likely to break. And putting in lemon would showcase your riches even more, because you needed to import the citrus fruits or build an orangery to grow them yourself.

Scientifically milk first is supposed to give a better flavour, because the milk will heat unevenly when you pour it in the hot tea. And apparently it does something with the proteins and fat from the milk as well.

The most beautiful moment from this video is when Nicola leans into Golda, with her arm resting on her leg, then Golda leans into Nicola, putting her chin on her shoulder, and the two kinda just hold each other for a few moments like that. That was like the most natural, the most easy, comfortable experience, showing their relationship beautifully. Hmm

Such a shame that the technical difficulties happened during Luke and Nicola’s initial reaction. I really wanted to hear that. Netflix, you have to do better with this. Have some back up to at least record the sound so that when you post it after the live event, you can add the sound that you may have missed. Such a disappointment on that part… otherwise yay! Love the camaraderie between the cast. They all seem to get along so well and it’s lovely to see that they enjoy working together. That obviously translates on screen because the show is great.

Okay i'm not really a body language expert but i like analysing stuff so i'll add my two pence to that conversation! First of all, Nicola and Luke are not dating, i believe he has a girlfriend so we can get that out of the way. Second, obviously they were asked to sit that close, exactly where they are, by the line of producers and publicists that are undoubtedly behind the camera. Now, i do believe they are comfortable sitting that close - i mean they are friends, they have repeatedly said that they found filming naked scenes surprisingly enjoyable - a hand on a knee is no problem. Luke's legs are crossed towards Nic most of the time and you don't keep your arm behind someone's back (which is weirdly very intimate) if you are uncomfortable in their proximity. However, you can see Luke readjusting himself several times, pulling on his trousers, on his sleeve, fidgeting with his hands, his delivery is quite robotic and he has that deer caught in headlights look in his eyes - i believe he was very nervous, period. Nicola is a bit more extroverted, a little less nervous and has a very reassuring nature. Her hands are mostly crossed on her lap with no fidgeting ; or she's leaning on Luke, which i think is a way to show support and affection, and is the equivalent of a pot of gold for the publicists. You can also see that Nic's love language is probably physical touch, as she has many sweet moments with her other costars, Hannah Dodd playing Francesca in particular. All in all, they're all very comfortable with each other, just under a lot of pressure and stress and emotionally and/or physically leaning on each other to cope. Am i still shipping Luke and Nicola : yes, but that's my own little square foot in Delululand. Can't wait for the season 🐝

Women would have worn stays - not corsets!!! Also, as some fashion historians have said about the Bridgerton Fashion: They don't even need the long stays, they could get away with a push up bra for that time period. And they tightlace the corsets mostly so that the actresses look thin enough for the audience (you wouldn't even be able to tightlace stays). Apparently some costume departments also use drawstrings in the petticoats to get a slimmer silhouette. And that aesthetic is also not the fault of the costume department but rather the fault of the directors and producers, who want to have that look.

@@kriskieffer8760 no problem. A chemise is an underdress people wore under their normal clothing. It was usually made out of undyed linen and was supposed to protect the more expensive fabrics of dresses and gowns from the sweat and oils of the skin. So instead of having to wash your expensive gowns with the prescious fabric and risk ruining the the color, usually you just needed to change and wash the chemise. The chemise was worn under the stays (or later under the corset). A slip is basically a 20th century underdress made from a slippery material to make the outer dress fall more smoothly. The stays were the equivalent of the bra, they were supposed to support the chest. In the Regency period you had short stays that were really similar to modern bras or bustiers (Kate's). You also had the long stays that were covering the the torso (Daphne's). The stays might have been reinforced with something like cords sewn into them to keep their form but these materials had still some flexibility. There was however the busk which was supposed to keep the stays from riding up and seperating the breasts. It was usually a piece of wood (a little bit like a ruler) which you would insert in between your breast. That was the most uncomfortable part of the stays. Very important: it was impossible to tightlace stays (like they tried to show in that scene with Daphne in Bridgerton season 1), because they didn't even have metal eyelets yet. So the fabric would just tear, if you put too much pressure on the lacing holes. Even later, the vast majority of women would not tightlace. For them the corset simply supported the chest (a a time were women were more often pregnant or nursing) and make the area, on which the weight of the petticoats and skirts rested, larger, thus making them more comfortable to wear. And contrary to Queen Charlotte's comment, "whalebone" was not the go to material of the time period and whalebone itself was not actual bone but a flexible material from the whales' "beards" with which the they filter the food out of the water. Furthermore stays and corsets should be fitted to the wearer's body. A lot of the discomfort modern wearers experience stems from ill fitting fast fashion corsets and/or tightlacing. If you want to learn more about historical fashion, there are some very good KZhead accounts from people who actually studied fashion/costume history, wore them daily as professional historical reanactors and have a background in sewing (they also analysed Bridgerton costumes). I can recommend for example Abby Cox, Nicole Rudolph, Bernadette Banner or Karolina Żebroswka.

Such a shame that the technical difficulties happened during Luke and Nicola’s initial reaction. I really wanted to hear that. Netflix, you have to do better with this. Have some back up to at least record the sound so that when you post it after the live event, you can add the sound that you may have missed. Such a disappointment on that part… otherwise yay! Love the camaraderie between the cast. They all seem to get along so well and it’s lovely to see that they enjoy working together. That obviously translates on screen because the show is great.

Okay i'm not really a body language expert but i like analysing stuff so i'll add my two pence to that conversation! First of all, Nicola and Luke are not dating, i believe he has a girlfriend so we can get that out of the way. Second, obviously they were asked to sit that close, exactly where they are, by the line of producers and publicists that are undoubtedly behind the camera. Now, i do believe they are comfortable sitting that close - i mean they are friends, they have repeatedly said that they found filming naked scenes surprisingly enjoyable - a hand on a knee is no problem. Luke's legs are crossed towards Nic most of the time and you don't keep your arm behind someone's back (which is weirdly very intimate) if you are uncomfortable in their proximity. However, you can see Luke readjusting himself several times, pulling on his trousers, on his sleeve, fidgeting with his hands, his delivery is quite robotic and he has that deer caught in headlights look in his eyes - i believe he was very nervous, period. Nicola is a bit more extroverted, a little less nervous and has a very reassuring nature. Her hands are mostly crossed on her lap with no fidgeting ; or she's leaning on Luke, which i think is a way to show support and affection, and is the equivalent of a pot of gold for the publicists. You can also see that Nic's love language is probably physical touch, as she has many sweet moments with her other costars, Hannah Dodd playing Francesca in particular. All in all, they're all very comfortable with each other, just under a lot of pressure and stress and emotionally and/or physically leaning on each other to cope. Am i still shipping Luke and Nicola : yes, but that's my own little square foot in Delululand. Can't wait for the season 🐝

I absolutely loved the outfits the actresses who play Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte are wearing in this video.
Women would have worn stays - not corsets!!! Also, as some fashion historians have said about the Bridgerton Fashion: They don't even need the long stays, they could get away with a push up bra for that time period. And they tightlace the corsets mostly so that the actresses look thin enough for the audience (you wouldn't even be able to tightlace stays). Apparently some costume departments also use drawstrings in the petticoats to get a slimmer silhouette. And that aesthetic is also not the fault of the costume department but rather the fault of the directors and producers, who want to have that look.
For real, they’re in empire waist gowns, they don’t need a corset covering their entire torso!

@@kriskieffer8760 no problem. A chemise is an underdress people wore under their normal clothing. It was usually made out of undyed linen and was supposed to protect the more expensive fabrics of dresses and gowns from the sweat and oils of the skin. So instead of having to wash your expensive gowns with the prescious fabric and risk ruining the the color, usually you just needed to change and wash the chemise. The chemise was worn under the stays (or later under the corset). A slip is basically a 20th century underdress made from a slippery material to make the outer dress fall more smoothly. The stays were the equivalent of the bra, they were supposed to support the chest. In the Regency period you had short stays that were really similar to modern bras or bustiers (Kate's). You also had the long stays that were covering the the torso (Daphne's). The stays might have been reinforced with something like cords sewn into them to keep their form but these materials had still some flexibility. There was however the busk which was supposed to keep the stays from riding up and seperating the breasts. It was usually a piece of wood (a little bit like a ruler) which you would insert in between your breast. That was the most uncomfortable part of the stays. Very important: it was impossible to tightlace stays (like they tried to show in that scene with Daphne in Bridgerton season 1), because they didn't even have metal eyelets yet. So the fabric would just tear, if you put too much pressure on the lacing holes. Even later, the vast majority of women would not tightlace. For them the corset simply supported the chest (a a time were women were more often pregnant or nursing) and make the area, on which the weight of the petticoats and skirts rested, larger, thus making them more comfortable to wear. And contrary to Queen Charlotte's comment, "whalebone" was not the go to material of the time period and whalebone itself was not actual bone but a flexible material from the whales' "beards" with which the they filter the food out of the water. Furthermore stays and corsets should be fitted to the wearer's body. A lot of the discomfort modern wearers experience stems from ill fitting fast fashion corsets and/or tightlacing. If you want to learn more about historical fashion, there are some very good KZhead accounts from people who actually studied fashion/costume history, wore them daily as professional historical reanactors and have a background in sewing (they also analysed Bridgerton costumes). I can recommend for example Abby Cox, Nicole Rudolph, Bernadette Banner or Karolina Żebroswka.
