God I adore the way that it shows Asriel as a kid having fun practicing fighting and then doing the same moves in the boss fight it’s SO GOOD

You don’t exactly realize how horrific the Flowey fight in the Neutral Run is because of the lack of visuals about what’s actually happening to Frisk. Then you see this kind of thing and think “Holy shit…”

I love how Toby Fox just seemed to effortlessly captivate the world with this game. It was YEARS after its initial release that it finally got released in Japan. The japanese were like “alright, the West has been going crazy for this game. Let’s see what the big deal is.” And then it became just as beloved over there as it is here. Hell, they’ve got their own Undertale memes that don’t even exist in the west. Hillbilly Sans is only a thing in Japan, and only because of how his dialogue was translated. Crossing cultural boundaries like that isn’t easy. Hell, Marvel movies are considered niche in Japan. But there is something so universal, so human about Undertale that you can appreciate it no matter your background. I know we often joke “haha funny sans Undertale meme” but the whole phenomenon surrounding this game is actually really beautiful.
As someone who really love RPG games, I agree 150% with your comment just now. Toby fox has fixed on what nowadays RPG games are lack. I mean the undertale doesn't need a good quality graphic to be the best video games, It's about how the game will entertain the players.

@@Emerald29 RPGs are all about the story and characters. If your characters are the "Chosen Warrior that has to defeat the Lord of Darkness to save the Princess of the kingdom of Generica", then you probably won't be able to get into the game unless you're a real fan of the genre. Even if the characters do get interesting development in the future, you would probably drop the game before that even happens. Instead, Undertale's setting is fresh enough and the characters are charming to the point you truly care about them. Even the least relevant NPC will have something interesting to say. It's also worth noting that Undertale discards a lot of qualities that your average RPG would have. There's no grinding needed for anything in most cases, the combat is not purely turn-based (Which means skill is more relevant), and it is pretty short. These qualities make it more accesible to people that don't usually play RPGs.

Honestly i like it better when people portray sans fight with a sans that doesn’t look like he’s trying in the slightest but the action with ones where he just physically fights are really fun to watch

@@sebagomez4647 Not necessarily. "Backstab" means fighting once when their name is yellow. It puts their guard down like genocide Papyrus and they die immediately, regardless of damage. But he is a god, idk
You know, every other attempt I've seen for animating the Megalovania fight would have Sans being far less hands on, dodging blows instead of actively countering them. And going against that grain makes this version... dare I say, even more impressive? It was already blowing the others out of the water on a technical level, but dear lord it's cemented itself as the Apex Undertale Animation.
Even the undyne fight was epic, this man is gifted

Been a solid 7 years since I finished Undertale. This animation made me cry my heart out all over again, my eye lids are still tingly and I'm trying not to cry more 😭👌 I LOVE this

かなり前に見てもう一度見に来て思ったんだけどサンズがゴリゴリ近接戦で打ち合ってるの新鮮すぎて好き。めっちゃかっこいい。迫力とか躍動感がすごくて終始鳥肌が止まりませんでした。自分も絵を描く身として尊敬します。
NCH's portrayal of Omega Flowey's transformation was terrific in displaying its horror in size and gore. But you did just as outstanding to portray the torture of the actual fight.
As someone who did the true pacifist route, I can say that the omega flowey fight was torture, especially when you died and he just taunted you.

You know it's coming, you know exactly what to expect. And yet, that ending. Hoo boy. Well done hahahaha The perspectives and dynamic storytelling in this are amazing. You gave each fight such fun choreography. From set pieces crumbling to bits to high-octane camera pans, dodges and blocks and other fun inventions, you've given each fight in the game a really unique feeling. My only real downside to all this is... that there's not enough of it!! I've watched many UNDERTALE fan anims over the years, and many of them have been quite excellent. But this is the first time I _really_ felt the 'anime' in the fanwork. I started imagining what an UNDERTALE anime would look like if it ever got picked up by a big studio like Bones or somesuch....... you gave me that. And, let's be fair: we don't need a big studio to pick something like that up... you already did! And you DELIVERED Congrats. A+. Love it. P.S. The Pacifist Run had me literally crying. That's usually reserved for feature length movies and the climax of an entire series. But you captured it in 10 minutes... ;'D

Well this is just about one of the best quality fan animations I've ever seen. Some of those scenes felt professional grade. Every undertale fan should see this.

I haven’t seen an Undertale animation this good in so many years. If someone added sound effects and voice overs that would probably make this the best Undertale animation ever, if it isn’t already.

The problem is that what makes Undertale so amazing is how much of a factor your choices are in what happens; in a medium where there is no/minimal audience agency, such as a TV show, that entire spectrum of the game is nullified. It might do well with a remaster with more detailed graphics and animations, but I can't see it getting traction as a TV show or movie.
I do not think a series would capture Undertale as well as the game does. In the game its you making those decisions, and seeing the consequences of such. I think Undertale lives better as a game than as a series.

Just finished watching it. The Genocide fights got me so riled up, oh my gosh. Superb work as always, Kez-san. The ending was fucking terrifying though, I had to look away from my screen...*shivers* loved it.

Two shots that I love the most in this entire animation, outstanding as it is already, are the two shots of Frisk near the end of Undyne genocide fight. One after they emerge from the water, at 18:13 with eyes closed and that little content smile, bruised, worn out and yet looking like they are having the best time of their life, which captures exactly how I fought in my run years ago. And the second one right after it, at 18:25 , in cross-up of Undyne and Frisk with one eye that is shown to us closed. and that little blush of something akin to thrill or arousal, ever more disturbing to Undyne, who fights to protect the world, while her opposition seemingly fights for the sake of it and some sick pleasure derived from the process.
Chills. And can I just say…. You picked the best version of megalovania :)

Seeing "Omega" Flowey with Frisk drawn to a realistic scale kinda shows what a fucked up Eldritch being we were dealing with here 😅 Also even if it goes without saying: beautiful, incredible work, I saw the trailer with Chara and Sans fighting many months ago, it's exciting to see the full thing! It upsets me that I haven't seen this sooner. This is pretty much what I always hoped for, when it came to fancontent for this game. Everything about these animations is just absolutely fantastic. The artstyle fits the characters so well, the animations and actions are so smooth and positively anime, I can almost hear them talk their lines, it makes me want to dub some of the scenes. But what I like most is how it coreographs with the music. This is the biggest factor. The action fits the music, which is something I always have on my mind when listening to the soundtrack. It creates visions, things you would love to see happening while listening, and these animations just nail these exact visions. Needless to say, sir, you have absolutely outdone yourself with this work. Thank you so much for gifting this to the fandom. ♥

Words honestly can't express how utterly floored I was when I first saw these animations. The animation fluidity and especially the fight choreography is the best I've ever seen from the Undertale fandom. You honestly deserve so much recognition in and this deserves millions of views. On the side note, is it possible we can get the full version of these animations by themselves? I'm aware their separate videos for them, but they don't have the full animation and same music. The Mettaon, Undying and Sans animations are ones I would love to have on a playlist stand alone. Edit: I see the community got this video to OVER a million views. Bless.

I remember my first genacide run, fighting undyne and sans really did feel like I was getting corrupted, at first I was sad, but after dying so many times that sadness turned into annoyance, frustration, and finally pure anger. I'm so glad this masterpiece of a game exists.

One thing I adore in the genocide animation is that Undyne and Sans are winning at first but the longer it goes on the better chara gets at learning how they fight until she eeks out the win. And you can tell based on how the fight is progressing that they're getting more and more desperate to pull out something, ANYTHING, to stop the human, and music fits and swells and just goes along perfectly with it. They just get more desperate and savage and it's wonderful. Just well done top tier stuff all around. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do Undyne such justice on the genocide fight.

I mean, it kinda works like your first genocide run where you learn how to dodge the attacks over time.
@@bachri7721 The player is a separate entity. It's never really confirmed, but I'd argue the one-hit kill attacks are Chara's, seeing how they outnumber what the player can do by large margins and the damage done depends on the malicious intent, something the demon Chara seems to have more of than the player. Seems especially clear in the fight with Sans or Asgore where the attack isn't even initiated by the player, compared to earlier bosses.

I played Undertale only this year, in april 2021, and to me, Undertale was similar to reading a good book. It draws you attention and even though game could feel a bit silly and humorous at the beginning, the more you dive in it's lore, the more you undertstand it's beauty and tragic nature of the story itself (especially, if you decide to complete all paths). Even though some people might say that graphics are bad, but story, music and characters are absolutely astonishing and graphics simply allow your imagination to draw the rest of the game by itself, like in any good book. Of course there is that emptiness, which stays with you after this story ends, but still, isn't it the most obvious sign that this game really touched the depth of your soul? Maybe this is not an AAA game and maybe it didn't have large budget or advertisement campaign, like many big projects, made by large companies, but still many people really appreciate Undertale and continue to make beautiful content, such as this. And you know, why people are staying *Determined?* That's because this game has *SOUL* in it, something, you wouldn't really see in most modern AAA projects and it's really fills my heart with *DETERMINATION.* Because this game was made not for the sake of money or popularity, not because of brend, where you had to produce the same thing every year, but in order to share something, to tell original story and to teach something. That's why this game will remain one of my favorites. This is not just a game but part of my and yours life story, which remains in us till the end.
I agree with you, and you summed it up very well. This game had a lot of story and really took you on a feels trip. The characters had depth to them and you had a lot of options to explore and find out more of the lore. This is definitely a game I won’t forget.

コロナ禍でundertaleを知りプレイを初めて、Sans戦を勝利したのが丁度昨年の今頃だったと思います。 その後、漁るように情報を集め、考察し、色々な方の作品に触れました。中でもz keさんの作品は短い（当時はTwitterのみだったので２分前後でしょうか）ながら、その躍動感と凝縮された内容に圧倒され、今日この日に至るまで待ちわびた甲斐がありました。 当時と最近加筆された箇所にクオリティの向上が見て取れ、当時を懐かしむと同時に驚きを持って30分を楽しませて頂きました。 本当にありがとうございました。そして、お疲れさまでした。

I couldn’t be more grateful that the Undertale community is still alive and still creating incredible content like this animation to this day. Even after half a decade. This has become far more than just small indie game. It’s changed hundreds of people’s lives, it’s changed my life.

Music is the key. Toby Fox is incredible. He created his soundtrack without any musical theory or schooling. This led to so many other artists latching on to his work in general. Including so many fan animators, let alone the scores and scores of fan covers and such making their own versions of the scores. Defying theory in a proper way, by someone who can very well be a prodigy, is its own special thing to uphold in these years. Truly incredible on all sides overall.
