Staff QUITS, Secret Invitations & The Most Expensive Video We Have Ever Made 🤑
Another week in my crazy life as an electrical contracting business owner. This week we got hands-on with the brand new libbi battery storage from myenergi, the media team work on plans for our most expensive video yet, and I lose my van keys and get left at the pub! Just another week with Artisan Electrics.

What do you think our big project is...
please do not get to woke
Expensive
Really love jokes from the boss about laying staff off... Also the jokes about staff not being paid this week.. Absolutely Hilarious!
Some drinking and driving here. Even one drink is too much.
if you keep with the click bait....you,ll lose a lot of us
Had to laugh at the coffee machine... The 'timer thing' is simply a clock, that tells the time 🤣 You just need to set it, the coffee stays warm in the flask without any additional heat... 👍
Good to see the behind the scenes day to day stuff. My old man was in forces logistics and it is the backbone of any organisation. Hope your business continues to grow, you have a good team 👍
Surely if you have more than 1 pint, you are probably over the limit?
Fantastic Video, I share your pain as after 30 yrs, 100 staff, offices in London, Birmingham, Warrington and Scotland decided to accept an offer from an overseas investor so ‘retired’ in 2019 and enjoying the fruits of my labour. Marketing was late in my business but the added value is immense, keep up this good work, it will pay dividends.
Great to see you guys having a laugh and not stressing too much at work. Life is too short to have a stressful work life
I have that Melitta coffee maker. The timer is so you can set it to come on at a certain time. E.g. have it brew for you getting into the office. 1 proper mug of coffee is 2 large cups on their scale (3 small cups). 14g of ground coffee is the perfect amount with the intensity dial up to maximum. With that you’re going to get a very flavourful mug.
You and your team do alot of drink driving
Defo, an EICR on Pyro flat please. 😀
@artisanelectrics Would enjoy seeing John doing a full EICR on the MICC cable property. Totally agree, pyro is still safe to use as long as it’s been terminated correctly👍
this weekly video concept seems familiar ?
Thought you had a make over. You should charge Jordan royalties at his own rates 🤑
You're a trend setter Nick,. Everyone on here go sub to Nick, the man's been grinding hard for years & he has made Adam one of the best apprentices out there and now he's helping Ben on his journey. Let's get him that silver play button
Indeed Sir Nick! 😄😀
Yes would be interesting to see the EICR on the Pyro job.
My wife died laughing at your attempts to use the coffee machine. We have that exact one here at Manordaf B&B. What you thought to be a timer is where you set the time 😂 It does not stay warm all day as it’s a thermal jug! You can however set it up on the timer function to make the first coffee of the day. You get four mugs from one jug. You need to buy a coffee maker with two glass jugs & hotplate if you want fresh Al day coffee. Also buy Morrisons everyday coffee (number 3) & save a small fortune!!
Monitors can be fun, but if the USB-C does Alt-Display mode, you can either get Monitors with display port in & out or a hub then daisy-chain them.
Great video! Thanks for sharing !
Condeming pyro under an eicr would be like condemming half the instustrial infrastructure of the UK. If anything its safer and more robust in a fire than any standard wiring used in homes and commercial buildings.
I would like to see that EICR video. Definitely sounds like the other contractor is just scouting for work.
From a perspective of just fleet management, having a standardisation on the make and model of van would make sense. Only one vendor to deal with for warranty, only one selection of parts for maintenance and if one needed a part to get to a job then the commonality could be useful if you have one that is off the road for whatever reason and you need to get another going quickly as you could borrow parts in the short term. Plus you then have a commonality of parts in terms of storage and equipment carried. Means that all your employees can grab any van as necessary if required (for instance a warranty or insurance claim on their usual van), meaning they always know where everything is (assuming that it is kept organised and tidy) and what to expect from the van.
Hi there, the timer on your coffee machine it so you can set it to come on. Prep it the night before and set the time for your arrival at the office😊
a full fleet of VW Transporters in matching or co-ordinating colour schemes would be my preference. (DIESEL, Manual)
Definitely go to London look forward to that one. John will do a good Job.
Jordon , As far as the facia screws for the sockets/ switches go, they provide little plasic cover buttons. Yes I know that they are are pain to get out. Though I believe that is what they were designed for, not just asthetics and to look pretty.
Had this issue. Not reported by customer thankfully. I ‘found’ unscrewing the switch front with a majns tester screwdriver. The so called electrician had stripped off too much insulation and left too much in back box. No earth. Thankfully a ‘simple’ fix. Not sure nylon screws would hold panel on for long. They do tend to break hot/cold issues. So those pesky little covers would help. Just not prevent the issue occurring.
Good vlog of the week love to see the EICR to see if it needs a rewire or not
Indeed!
Good video, thanks. Definatelt interested in the Pyro EICR
I’m booked to myenergi next month. Can’t wait to see and play with the Libbi! Carefully selected
I thought she was called Jordee not libbi 👀🤣
Usual click bait title 😕 But I have to admit, it was one of your better videos, as it was a nice change to see the "backroom" now working (But it was supposed to be working since Cory made the "recording area" so what happened?) Also interesting about Hello Fresh, I wondered were they small, the answer is obviously yes, too small. Very good idea for the Friday beer (No, not for the beer, but for the social chat)
If your a Microsoft 365 customer, Power Automate is where you need to be looking. I believe that the whole attachment stripping thing is even an out of the box automation…
I really enjoyed this video, as felt I was there along with you, I must admit I do think that office/everything space seems rather small and feel that your be moving again very soon but great work 👍
Back when I used to work for a living I ran the water and wastewater systems for a small city. Plenty of work for an electrician but we did not have one on staff and we used a contractor. He was pretty good at his trade. I did notice though that every time he opened up a panel he would say essentially the same thing... "Who the F**K wired up this disgusting mess?". He had been our electrical contractor for years and very often the person who wired up the disgusting mess was him years earlier. Love your channel and have subscribed. Cheers from the wilds of Canada. ~ulrich.
Great way of dividing the task, we did it the same way and we all loved it, also our kids!!
On the subject of vehicles, alone; Keep at least one wet one, (petrol or diesel). It will be your turn-to workhorse, and keep it big, to be able to ferry bulk -and tow - when necessary. The wet dream of electric mobility has been the biggest con job by a bunch of greedy lobbyists, that will never be able to match the ability to drive to Scotland in one short -8/10 hr. hop. As for the rest of the vlog; Just as brilliant and informative as you bunch always do! Thankyou.
Great video.will love to see that eicr done.
Definitely would like to see the London flat video
Dext is your answer Jordan, it inputs it all into your accounts and everything. I literally forward whatever email bill to a dedicated dext email and it automatically inputs directly into Zero. Saves hours!
The segment at the end you guys all left the pub . Drinking and driving it’s not a good luck for business Jordan
Great job - give the customer a "real" test result on their pyro. I love MIC for the fire safety and neatness. In my opinion, the "other" person or crew knew nothing about the stuff - or were hoping to make a mint out of the customer. Either way, they are untrustworthy, maybe unqualified, cowboys.
as for earthing the screws in a switch or using nylon ones, years ago working in a house, got some muck on light switch so gace it a wipe with a damp cloth, and touched the metal screw and couldnt get my finger off the thing for some reason, eventully broke free, did i get an electric shock or just mild attraction to the screw, any answer. Now dorty switch wipe with a dry cloth only.
Good idea to use a mix of Small and large vans as parking can be tight sometimes
Why not change the car for an estate version a lot more practical for you I have seen a van version of the London taxi having that range extendor engine might help you
I would use a UV marker on those boxes, as you just know some will go missing. Stickers easy to remove.
In my old business we used another brand (I forget what it was called) version of apple air tags
C2 for the metal screws, easily covered with the plastic screw caps that come with all faceplates.
Please show the EICR for the place with the pyro, I would find it very interesting.
Personal favourite van is the transporter, think we need a video on all the vans in Artisan
Depending on what software you use, if you've got M365 you could use Power Automate for your workflows, otherwise potentially searching for alternatives may help.
Big fan of the weekly vlogs!
Metal socket screws.I believe they should be bonded for safety, I'm not a electrician, however I worked as a Safety and Approvals engineer in the office equipment Industry. We used an articulated test finger to assess contact with potential conductive live parts under fault conditions. Perhaps something like this should be adopted to assess contact. I believe the tip of the test finger that we used would contact the fixing screw head.
Hi Jordan. You said recently the you might be able to suggest solar pv/battery installers in other regions. I am in the North West - Liverpool area. Would appreciate any guidance
plastic screw caps for the light switches. Looks neater too.
I believe that the screw heads must be earthed, but not necessarily with a dedicated link to the back box. Every switch / socket I’ve seen specifically links the screw holes to earth so the installation is compliant, where nylon screws are a solution is when there is no cpc present, eg in a light switch that isn’t wired with one. (hopefully that is a rare circumstance)
Great video 👍
If you use Office 365 you could use power automate to do the attachment stripping as we do this for other clients ;)
Yep deffo power apps 👍
I see you’ve got a Boundary alarm on the wall in your office… thoughts on what to do with it now they’ve gone into liquidation?!
You can save a lot of time and money moving on from Sage. Always has been much too complicated. (Love the vids) Umm, how many pints did you drive off with?
Would love to see John do the inspection and EICR on that property in London. Enjoyed the VLog. Thanks for sharing.
Right I see where the high quotes come from, a lot of overheads 😂 I like it though it’s good to see, all the vans and office, everything looks top quality too. That makes a lot more sense now can see where the moneys going 👍 good shout on the crates, keeps the lads working instead of having a break and a talk in the wholesalers 😂
Bloody Awesome!!
My uncle said to me if you have all the same vans no one is sure if they see the same van time after time. Always have different vans so it looks like you have a big fleet and also you can evaluate different types pros and cons.
Putting half an hour on my journey time to recharge mid day doesn't sound like fun tbqh.. Electric cars aren't efficient enough to service important economy sectors. They're also relying on fossil fuels creating electricity at the power station and our grid simply cannot handle a nation of electric cars.. not half a nation. So we have to ask ourselves why they are pushing it so hard 100 years since Ford made their first one..?
to have the benefits of all same vans as others mentioned, but to have each van look different, for your mentioned reason - you can use the wrapping / marketing on the van, which can have the same desired info, but still, look different enough.
Re. automating file attachment upload , an Azure Logic App or Power Automate would be able to do this, particularly if your email platform is also Microsoft 365..
C3 for the switch with no earth to the back box. A simple solution is fit plastic cover caps over the screw heads.
zapier and workato are great for that sort of thing. If you have a high enough Office 365 subscription it includes Microsoft Flow which can do most of what zapier can.
I have found someone that agrees with me that if you put milk in coffee, you adulterate it. Coffee needs to be savoured for the flavour it has. Good luck with the office reorganisation.
most people are just drinking it cause it has caffeine in it, not for the taste, coffee itself is nasty, like what "flavor" lol you mean bitter? hahaha
I say this too!!!
Nah Sugar, yeah sure. You made the coffee wrong or the beans are trash. But a little milk/cream, it's a lovely addon if that's your thing.
the cloud accounting and banking package Xero integrates with Tradify... Worth a look?
Wish our place was that organised. Our stores is a "free for all" and the schedulers favourite task is to shuffle all the tasks in the evening after you have check on the tablet what you have for the next day.
Nothing wrong with MICC, you can bet the EICR in London was an in/out quick visit by have a go joe/Joanne
Yes, always enjoy watching the EICR on domestic property.
Cheers from Florida! Enjoy your videos. Got a question, not electrical related, if you guys use the metric system, why do you go to the pub for a pint? Congratulations on what you’ve achieved, seems to me to be well deserved and earned through good work.
We are a strange country in the fact we use a mixture of imperial and metric 🙃
@@michaelgraham1866 I did not realize that. Thanks for the info. Cheers!
@@michaelgraham1866 Everyone knows beer is not metric😊
@Tom Thumb Not so.
Hi there - my hubby watches all your vids. I have one comment from an AV perspective: the music tracks are set too high compared to the volume of your voice. It's not balanced. And then when it's just music, the volume overall skyrockets. Just a suggestion to consider re-evaluating your volume settings. Otherwise, Love your vids!
Can't believe no one's mentioned how close your isolators etc are so close to your Hob 🤪
Used ServiceM8 software. Tradify is very basic
1:45 Probably the ONLY way McD's will get your order right is if you use one of those screens. And that's assuming the f-ing thing prints out the receipt...
I work at a company that usues a system called DEXT. Which works exactly as you described, might be worth a look into.
Corey left ages ago!! good use of click bait there 😅😂
🤣🤣
I think the McDonald's touch screen was the click bait tbh
Clickbait gets a downvote from me
I’ve noticed this a few times on this channel of late.
@William Tell clickbait = more views
Longtime viewer and really enjoy the channel. Some honest feedback though, I follow you guys for your excellent electrical work and educational content. I think it’s good to experiment with what you put out but I can’t say I enjoyed this one. Shorter, more regular videos with all your great sparks please!
what's with all the big red cases?
Hi How does your NIC membership work? As per the above video your more business based. Which could be where my company is going. Do the NIC make this transition easy? Do you have multiple QS?
I’ve used VW transporter, ford transit, vauxhall movano, iveco daily for my company. I would go for all the same size vans. Make everything inside the vans the same tools etc. Then anyone of your staff can get into any of the vans and find what they need. It would improve efficiency. It would be a good image for the company to have vans all that same and wrapped. They are a good advertising tool. Put a QR link on the van also link to website for example.
They all drive the same after a few beers 😂
Hi love your vid's
EICR of those old weirdo cables: Always interesting!
Re: Nylon screws. Since you have now determined that under certain conditions, persons may receive an electrical shock from a faulty installation. You now must ensure that the faceplate & rear box are tied earthed/bonded, or the use of nylon for non-metallic fittings to mitigate the hazard. The use of plastic screw caps has been common, but they can be removed. (One case brought before the courts found that the installation was faulty & damages awarded to a child who received a shock from a light fitting / switch).
Well Jordan my favourite van is a diesel Volkswagen transporter high line
As a liftmechanic most work is in the city and try to save some money with parking in pre booked garages. Cheapest I know in Amsterdam is just €10 for a day. Parking on the streets it's € 7,50 an hour. For € 45 you can park from 0900h-1900h. Most garages have 1,9m height restriction, my Vito is just 1,89m (with roofrails) and fits in most garages. Sometimes I get lucky and get offered a parking space in the hotel garage during the job. The last job I did I was able to park in the garage. Other tradesman that saw my van in the underground parking thought they could also park there. In a 4 week period I witnessed a Transit Custom, VW Transporter and a Renault Traffic get scratched roofs. The VW even dislodged the overhead door and got stuck. Had to be pulled out by a tow truck 😂. So if you ask me go with the Mercedes eVito but wait until the end of the year because there is a facelift version comming (according to the MB-Vans rep.).
Please Do the proper EICR and then have an interview with trading standards and an MP as to why this is the way of the world today
The A Team van is my favourite
You could be over the limit with those beers even one beer is too much.
Love to see the EICR on the condemned flat. The list…. Top 10 McDonalds in Cambridge? Ok, I know you are passionate about H&S in your work on site, but don’t neglect your office. You need a full size keyboard and mouse at a work station to comply with a DSE assessment. Laptop keyboard and mouse should only be a temporary solution. Stay safe and keep these awesome vids a coming. Thanks for the content.
That depends on if you're using imperial or metric cups? That's probably some sort of timer clock. It's good to have some skills you know so you don't starve even if that's cooking Ramen.
Does sage intergrate with Dext? Most of our email attachments are automated through Dext into Xero
Just came here to say I envy the people who have over 3/4 of an hour to watch this. Had to watch some shorts instead. Back to work!
Hey - i've built automation like that for mail using PHP. You can do alot with a little :)
Can you show us what software your are using as well ?
Maybe a stupid question, but how can I find a good electrician in my area to replace to consumer unit?
You need Dext for your receipt / invoice processing!
Go for it with the EICR :)
If the box is metal it has to be bonded in the States Do you have a earth or Equipment grounding conductor In the box, if so bond the box than the screw should be bonded. If no Equipment grounding conductor exists in box Than add a RCD 6 mil circuit breaker to circuit.
If you had a Yale Conexis L1 door lock, you could unlock it with your mobile phone or a hotel-style keycard from your wallet - no keys needed! You could also lose the door key from your van/car keys and replace it with a small plastic tag.,,
Yes would love to see it
I believe quickbooks can auto-import invoices. Might be worth looking in to
Vw caddy, i have one i love it
