Beware of THIS in New Zealand!
Did you expect this in New Zealand? When you come to New Zealand, you'll be shocked to see gangs. Gangs in New Zealand are so unafraid of the Police that they ride obnoxiously loud motorcycles so you can hear them a mile away.
They even wear a uniform which includes a gang patch, so you know which gang they're from.
This is how open and obvious organised crime is in New Zealand. And for visitors like my wife, it's shocking.
If you stay away from them, they won't bug ya. But the reality is gangs are known for the drug trade, murder, theft, violence against women, and the list goes on.
"There are numerous gangs in New Zealand, of varying criminality, organisation and ethnicity, including outlaw motorcycle gangs, street gangs and ethnically based gangs. A chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was formed in Auckland in 1961, the first Hells Angels chapter outside the US.
Soon after, the Mongrel Mob formed in Hastings and Wellington, developing into a predominantly Māori and Pacific Islander gang and having the largest membership in the country.
Through the 1960s and 1970s, other outlaw motorcycle clubs and ethnically based gangs formed, including another predominantly Māori gang, Black Power (not related to the African-American movement), which grew to rival the Mongrel Mob." from Wikipedia.

Hi, New Zealander here, The gangs are pretty chill most of the time. As long as you don't bother them, and treat members like regular people, you're fine. NZ gangs are not like the ones in the US, and violence is usually between other gangs. Also, it depends on the area you're in. I know that Hamilton and parts of Auckland have more gang activity. My dad runs a mechanic shop and has interacted with multiple gang members, and once, a car he fixed up for them got seized by the police a week later. Edit: This is just my point of view. Please stop acting out the NZ Parliment's current debates in the replies
Most of the time is not good enough.
It's all about respect. Treat people how you want to be treated. It's not rocket science. They're a club, not a gang, btw.

Showing off that the gangs are worse in your country is not the flex you think it is.
Just because someone is in a motor cycle gang doesn't mean they are a criminal!
As a Latin American, I find these so-called "gangs" really cute.
Lol go over there and tell them that.
Since when did crime become a flex?

As a kiwi, they’re pretty chill unless you fuck with them, they aren’t that dangerous or scary especially compared to gangs in other countries
It's crazy because Kiwi is the most famous brand of shoe polish in my country and used as an umbrella term for all shoe polish. Shoe anytime I read, 'as a kiwi' my mind instantly flips to shoe polish😅 they've clearly done great advertising over the decades

😂
Gang members in the UK hang about in Parliment and the gang leaders hang about the House of Lords.Champagne, fine wines and food is subsidised and according too some sources, cocaines very poular.

what’s the point of having a completely blurry scene?
When i was younger i had an awkward situation with a gang on a plane because we kept moving in the same direction to try and move out of the way but it was fine which shows that some gangs (not all) are nice to kids and they don't get them involved in anything bad.
My dad worked in New Zealand for 9 months. He bought a car in his first month there and it got stolen but 3 weeks later they found it in an airport with a gang sign in the backseat.
The poor guy just needed a ride and Uber turned him down.

brother 1/4 of the gangs are somoan at least
To be honest visiting Australia and New Zealand, i can understand why one would joing a gang, just get you stupid rules about EVERYTHING out of my face
As someone who has grown up and still lives in NZ, most gangs over here are actually pretty chill, at least in public, they can be annoying at times, if ya don't like loud noise, but a lot of them are actually quite friendly people. We've even got some that make lunches for schools and keep drugs out of certain communities. Most of them are related also, as the locals have very big families, so sometimes it's just a ton of uncles and cousins and such. Not as bad as gangs around most of the world, and are pretty friendly, but there are the exceptions to that rule, but most gangs won't bother anyone except rival gangs.
No they are not. They are completely out of control and dangerous. Our government has been way to soft on them and it is showing.
Yes, gang members are usually human. Humans tend to have families. That doesn't excuse their criminal behavior. All gangs are garbage. Stop defending them.
Are they chill?
@@dpchamilion4915 I went to a biker wedding in Canada and I can testify that on an international level, even in notorious bike gangs, usually it’s some smaller (select) groups of bikers that are criminally responsible. So usually, if you’re chill, then most bikers are chill as well. It’s never a bad idea to be wary until you’re sure it’s safe.
Thank you, this guys is making it seem like it's a criminal pad everywhere, but what he forgets to mention is that they support a lot of initiatives for people around Aotearoa. They're also citizens that have families here, so they tend to take care of the communities they are from. They won't bother people unless you fk with them, owe them money, or owe them blood debt. They're generally loud and noisy, sometimes violent towards their own, but they leave a lot of people alone. It's the new gangs with no roots here that are the problem because they have no issue with shooting up whatever area because they have no ties anywhere.
I lived next door to some gangsters in NZ, they are intimidating to look at but don't draw attention needlessly. But they looked after the old folk, did their lawns, no late parties. The younger ones or the kids aspiring to being a gangster can be a nuisance, but they tend to keep them in check. Gang vs gang is pretty scary to witness though, which is where the majority of the problems are.
I have seen some problems with kids stealing and joyriding cars. But not all gang members a bad.
For the most part its the juvie prospects that cause all the trouble. Trying to prove their worth to the gangs by doing dumb shit and getting people hurt

In 1908, the New Zealand government outlawed Māori culture. When your culture is illegal, isn’t existing a crime? Isn’t a group of people existing then a “gang”? We obviously don’t support harming others, but these “gangs” were for a very long time one of the biggest reasons Māori culture is still alive. They rebuilt sacred communal houses and places, they battled colonialism, they guarded mosques.
2024 IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.
The gangs are a product of colonialism. Regardless of which Act, i.e., the Suppression Act, Segregation Act, or the Integration Act. All were a form of Cultural, Ethnic genocide. Remove a people from their land, language, and culture. Little wonder there are gangs! However, you are misinformed that gangs built our marae. Not surprising though.
You're generalising.Stop talking nonsense. Gangs did not build our marae! Niether are gangs, the reason the Māori people our Culture has survived against colonial dominance. And that's a fact!
In India, they are called telephone scammers
i live in new zealand and gangs usually don't mess with anyone unless you provoke them in some way. the most they usually do is get some broken down car to scream down the street and rip up the road.
would you look at them differently if (or when) they would do human trafficking? because this is just another step for organized crime, so we should leave them be?
@@user-qz6ix7od3b I'm curious to know if this under some kind of unwritten deal with the authorities. And most importantly if it is a concern for the population or a " whatever 🙄" situation. Because organized crime can be much less of a problem for the day to day life than small time drug dealers and so on, who basically have not much to lose, causing insecurities and harassment, for women in particular.
That's because they are literally cosplaying. They are wearing a costume of a 90s American biker gang that actually were involved in countless gang wars. It's unironically similar to live action role play lol
So basically they are just normal motorcycle clubs and not actual gang...
How often do you see their formations when you are driving around? In SoCal in work and casual driving I think I might see a column 4-6 times a year. Personally I'm not a gearhead, but I would find it fun riding around in the great out-of-doors on a powerful butt massager.
Yall clearly misunderstood the motorcycle mention. He wasn't saying their crime is riding loud motorcycles, he's saying they don't care so much that they don't even try to hide. They'll let you know they're coming and wear their uniforms openly.
Like every other biker gang around the world.
I prefer if that was their only crime 😂 These bozos in the comments making organised crime a competition.
It's not that he said the motorcycles were crimes, it's the way he said it the sheer snobbery in his tone of voice, the judgemental attitude and implying every biker is in gangs.
I did not know wearing uniforms is illegal🤣 or riding motorcycles. In fact, what bothers some, is people gathering, which could make them resilient to being abused, right?
@@RaphaellyRaphaelly-KalimbaHike Poor bikers being abused by human trafficking victims :(
But didn't Jacinda Ahern ban guns in New Zealand, isn't the crime rate lower? Because if crime is less, then what do the gangs do most of the time, and if not how is it not the highest crime country yet?
I wonder when exactly did it start to get this bad. Ever since LOTR movies were shot there I've been hearing NZ is a paradise. This is new to me.
