@@Toasteeei There were only two things you could do with the spear. Both of those were inferior to other weapons. The knockdown is probably the most useful thing it can do but it doesn't fix the issues that it has.

@@Toasteeei Superficial =/= useless. Just means it's not very elaborate - melee combat almost feels like it was an afterthought in HZD. One light attack and one heavy and that's it. It's more fleshed out in Forbidden West as stated and shown in the video - light attack isn't just a single move over and over like in HZD.

One thing I find interesting is that this was made specifically for this. It's not in the actual game, at least this sequence of events isn't. And sure, that paints it as a little scripted, but it's still impressive and still showcases a lot of the new stuff well

this is the most impressive game to me for their graphics and variety of missions. I can see the crew tried very hard to avoid the missions being too boring or repeated. i only hoped that those Bosses can be reli a boss but not only another enemy that walks around the map, as i prefer the bosses to be unique and special

The hair animation in HZD was based on AMD's open source TressFX customized heavily for Aloy.... I wish more developers gave games more love like that. And props to AMD for making TressFX open source and performant on all GPU hardware.

Only thing I want more of in this game is melee options. I’d love to go full out weapon equipment - swords, Shields, maces, but all with that Horizon twist on them. Think that would just spice up the melee gameplay, especially if we end up going back to the cauldrons where the arenas could be pretty tight for ranged combat and too tight for flailing spear combat.

I completely agree with you. I was expecting only a few added game mechanics, but this blew my expectations out of the water. I really hope this doesn’t turn into the Cyperpunk, or Atomic Heart situation, where the gameplay was faked, or shown without glitches and errors.

Really fun game man, improved upon Horizon Zero Dawn, the graphics are stunning , the open world is gigantic and a joy to explore, it’s my personal showcase game for the PS5’s graphics and my pick for game of the year 👏👏👏👏 Still enjoy exploring the open world after getting the platinum, it’s the type of game you can explore the world for hours 🙌

[shrugged] like the scanning of machines's weaknesses and moving parts (H1:ZD) currently right now, the yellow highlights only for them to disappear back to normal until you have to scan them again.

The refinements to human enemy combat with the spear and better reactions based on where you hit them (i.e. staggering when you shoot them in the arm) coupled with partially destructible environments shows you Guerilla is listening. This is gonna be amazing

I don’t think this is a foward to a 3rd game tbh. Errand probably doesn’t have the focus due bc this demo could have been made before errand had it (like the devs didn’t plan for him to have one yet) and the storms do appear in forbidden west but don’t do much. It’s just a circle of clouds with the odd red bit of lightning. I don’t think nemesis would appear in one

Hopefully this means Aloy can climb a freakin waist high ledge now, it was so annoying to find a ledge you could realistically jump up to but Aloy wouldnt grab because it wasnt painted

I really like how it seems like her new equipment comes from the machines. The way she scans the environment isn't the focus doing, it's a scrapper's scanner. The glider she uses looks like a shellwalker's shield.. Just like how she used the corruptor's corrupting component to hack machines. I can't wait for the game man.

Way too late to say this but the swimming animations are astonishing. Never seen such a precise and correct technique before.

@@Sco10 melee combat was superficial? I used it a lot when I played the game, mostly the heavy spear attack to knock down ravagers and such
@@Toasteeei There were only two things you could do with the spear. Both of those were inferior to other weapons. The knockdown is probably the most useful thing it can do but it doesn't fix the issues that it has.
@@Toasteeei Superficial =/= useless. Just means it's not very elaborate - melee combat almost feels like it was an afterthought in HZD. One light attack and one heavy and that's it. It's more fleshed out in Forbidden West as stated and shown in the video - light attack isn't just a single move over and over like in HZD.

this is the most impressive game to me for their graphics and variety of missions. I can see the crew tried very hard to avoid the missions being too boring or repeated. i only hoped that those Bosses can be reli a boss but not only another enemy that walks around the map, as i prefer the bosses to be unique and special
We won’t be able to guess if the missions are too boring or repetitive until the game comes out. There will be other tremortusks taken over by the Regalla tribe like the one in this trailer. As for other fights that may be boss fight specific, we will have to wait and see

Watched this many times and still hyped it’s just one of the few games that won’t disappoint nowadays, kept its OG things and added new stuff to excite us.
The game looks exceptional and I'm very excited. It looks like the developers have put thier heart and soul into this game which is kind of hard to come by nowadays. As this game series continues I hope this quality remains the standard and is the priority over mass producing games every year or two.

The hair animation in HZD was based on AMD's open source TressFX customized heavily for Aloy.... I wish more developers gave games more love like that. And props to AMD for making TressFX open source and performant on all GPU hardware.

That's why I decided to buy the PS4 version and upgrade later to PS5 version when I can get my hands on one...
Only thing I want more of in this game is melee options. I’d love to go full out weapon equipment - swords, Shields, maces, but all with that Horizon twist on them. Think that would just spice up the melee gameplay, especially if we end up going back to the cauldrons where the arenas could be pretty tight for ranged combat and too tight for flailing spear combat.
Have you ever played bloodborne? Transformation weapons would fit perfectly in this series.

I completely agree with you. I was expecting only a few added game mechanics, but this blew my expectations out of the water. I really hope this doesn’t turn into the Cyperpunk, or Atomic Heart situation, where the gameplay was faked, or shown without glitches and errors.

Really fun game man, improved upon Horizon Zero Dawn, the graphics are stunning , the open world is gigantic and a joy to explore, it’s my personal showcase game for the PS5’s graphics and my pick for game of the year 👏👏👏👏 Still enjoy exploring the open world after getting the platinum, it’s the type of game you can explore the world for hours 🙌

The refinements to human enemy combat with the spear and better reactions based on where you hit them (i.e. staggering when you shoot them in the arm) coupled with partially destructible environments shows you Guerilla is listening. This is gonna be amazing

When Aloy is underwater her hair animation looks great.
Yeah, all her animations do. She has so many different swim movements, it just looks natural.
The animations when climbing and using the pullcaster like here 12:47 are also amazing.
And she speaks under water.

I don’t think this is a foward to a 3rd game tbh. Errand probably doesn’t have the focus due bc this demo could have been made before errand had it (like the devs didn’t plan for him to have one yet) and the storms do appear in forbidden west but don’t do much. It’s just a circle of clouds with the odd red bit of lightning. I don’t think nemesis would appear in one

Its crazy because the actual game actually plays like this and looks even better on release, and I don't even think there were any features here shown that aren't in the game now.
For years people have complained about ledge paintings...this game solves that problem by scanning the surrounding, showing you what you can climb on.... A revolutionary idea
Hopefully this means Aloy can climb a freakin waist high ledge now, it was so annoying to find a ledge you could realistically jump up to but Aloy wouldnt grab because it wasnt painted
I really like how it seems like her new equipment comes from the machines. The way she scans the environment isn't the focus doing, it's a scrapper's scanner. The glider she uses looks like a shellwalker's shield.. Just like how she used the corruptor's corrupting component to hack machines. I can't wait for the game man.
