The "amuse" is short for the French "Amuse-bouche" (literally to "make your mouth happy"), and it's a one or two bite appetizer that's usually just a chance for the chef to show-off his/her creativity and talent
Yes and it seemed more appetizer size. Biggest amuse bouche I've ever seen.😅
In some country/region, it is "Amuse-gueule" instead.
@@Domspunpicky bits or finger food here in the UK 😂
Thank you for this information. I enjoy learning about the little parts during the journey. It makes the journey worthwhile. 👍❤️
I believe the pronoun you're looking for is their.
This is so much fun to watch! A very long time ago I was the production singer on the original Asuka. She was a sister ship of the Crystal Harmony. Must have been smaller because we often sailed this route but we did go through the inland sea at night. I was always fascinated by the squid fishing vessels and their bright lights shining at night. These older ships do not have thrusters so they need tugboat help to dock. I enjoyed waving to the tugboat sailors and they often seemed very surprised! These carpets, curtains and dishes all look familiar to me after all of these years! Also, Kobe was my disembarkation port and I was very homesick and ready to return to the US after 6 months onboard. I remember that balcony in the terminal and waving goodbye to my friends in the crew who remained onboard. It was a very interesting experience to be an American on a Japanese ship before e-mail was common and definitely wasn’t available onboard. I love seeing your ferry trips and would love to return to Japan someday now that I’m older and wiser! I look forward to part two!
I forgot to add that I used to enjoy having curry for breakfast!
@@georgiede 😀👍
Is there no one aboard these ships with you!? Every cruise and every ferry is like a ghost town.
Doesn't matter what ship you are on the "Sunflower" song is always in my heart. I also love that you can get anywhere in Japan without a car. I don't drive and I live in the states, it gets complicated depending what city I'm in.
The rest of the world has pretty good public transportation as well. You’ll never a car if you’re staying in a large metropolis
You should travel to Japan if you can. Being on a train going almost 200 MPH and hardly feeling it can be very disorientating! And no security screenings! Just show up at the station, buy a non-reserved ticket, go through the turnstiles, head to the platform, and wait for the next train!
@@Milnoc Why would there be security screenings for a train? What country does that?
@@thany3Eurostar has security checks I believe, and you have to go through customs. But that is a special case because it's international and you're going in a tunnel under the sea.
I feel like the sunflower song is like a suppository forcefully deeply inserted, it's old after the first time you hear it
The dessert assembling a face, STJ's humor is the best👁👄👁🍮
Hi Solo! I hope you are well! Your videos destress me and help me through tough times! Keep up the good work Solo! Thabk you!
Yes, it's a nice way to de-stress before drifting off to sleep.
very relaxing and calm :)
I love your food-exclamation marks. We all know they're coming, but I still look forward to them. 😉Great food, great trip, thanks!
I think you should start posting your weight before and after excursions. 😀. Your Japanese travel videos are my favorite. You make the trip the star of the show. Other travelers often talk too much and are intrusive to the surroundings. Excellent job!
silent sounds with only surrounding sounds makes it feels like we r there..😍😍
Well presented video. Seems a little pricey for basically a 1.5 day cruise with normal accommodations but the food looks amazing so that sold me.
Yeah, 1,302 usd for only 1.5 days. No thank you, I would stick to the ferries that he has been sailing on.
The private bath room here I think it’s a must. I can’t bear sharing toilets and showers with other people
yes but they have TUNA , BLOWFISH, and FRESH HORSEMEAT ......flown in from Canada
For that much, I would definitely be using the jacuzzi regardless of weather.
I am a super fan of cruises and ferries. I simply came cross your channel by accident and boy have you made my day! I love your ship videos so much, the pace and all, especially there is a sense of tranquility about them, there is no music playing in the videos, the background noises tuned down, and other souls rarely appeared in the frames, it feels like as if you were the only passenger on the ship! You are one of the most stylish KZheadrs at work, and your 'silent' videos are not without a sense of healing touch. I am chasing to watch back all your precious ship videos these days. And the good news is after watching them all, I can always come back to these unique videos again and again and enjoy the tranquility at sea! Take good care and keep ferrying ;-)
Solo, I love watching you eat! I love your enthusiasm, it’s a compliment. The food looked so wonderful. I would want to try some of everything. I know you enjoyed this voyage. Thanks for taking us along, it was great, as always 🙏
I love ALL the tiny details you give us. It's so refreshing, yet necessary. Thank you Solo.
I would love to one day go on one of these Cruises in Japan, or even in the Overnight Ferries. They all seem like fun experiences! Thank you for sharing this amazing content with us!🥰♥
25 years ago, we went on a cruise on an older small ship to the Bahamas, and it was SO much more fun than the huge ones. We see these videos and are inspired to find a smaller ship to take another cruise. Just relax, wander around, and enjoy. Don't wait for yourself, find something you can do too.
@@momkatmax I see those huge newer cruise ships and cannot imagine being around 4000 or more people. Sounds insane to me.
@@elcubanito2442 One gigantic petri dish.
@@elcubanito2442 4000 or more of your closest friends. Totally agree, small ones for me!
@@momkatmaxNot remotely that easy for everyone. Many of us can barely feed ourselves, let alone afford anything recreational. And if you have severe depression and anxiety and can barely leave the house, traveling isn't an option.
I'm glad there's a hand rail in the bath. I fell twice this week in the bath and nearly broke my arm and ribs. I'm black and blue with bruises. Good to see the ferry company cares about passenger safety.
This is a regular cruise ship this time, rather than a ferry...
25:00 when you’re eating… they’re playing the best most relaxing background music. Such vibes 😊❤ Also, as an American I’m always enamored and amazed at how organized and spotlessly clean everything always is in your videos. So envious. It’s breathtaking.
Solo travel...solo. Tour. Very good 😂😂❤❤😮😮
If I saw the unlimited creme caramel, the ship would capsize. I'd eat it all, it's my ichiban daisuke.
That did not feel like a 50 min video. Great content as always, Solo.
It's such a joy seeing the Japanese haven't given up on enjoying life. The sheer amount of background chatter throughout the dinner course was amazing! The three year long nightmare is finally over! Let's cruise Japan!
Don't get too comfortable. They're not done yet. More to come, count on it.
Loved the library...that's where I'd be for an hour. The food presentations are beautiful. The vegetable curry soup looked good. A book lounge, too?? And that laundromat!
I am not a dessert person, but the dessert selection on this boat was this unique, I would definitely graze the dessert options before dinner as well.
As Cora from Titanic said, it's a ship. 😛
I like how you made the dessert plate a smiley face! 25:21
I worked on this ship in 1993 when is was still the crystal harmony!
I love it when restaurants serve bread fresh out of the oven and absolutely warm and fluffy with butter. So yummy😋
I love your happy sense of humor. This is the 2nd video of yours I've seen now, and I'm hooked. You've earned another subscriber. 🙂
What a wonderful cruise thanks I enjoyed, good looking food, deserts, great room I wanna sit on the balcony with coffee
You didn't fool anyone with your "surprise" curry at dinner, Solo San.😀
That looks great, especially all the food! That said, I'm a bit surprised about the rather simple departure. Years ago I saw Asuka II depart from Otaru, and they made quite the spectacle of it, with taiko drums, yuru-chara and paper streamers.
Yes, when I was on Asuka (original) many departures had streamers, cookouts, drummers etc, but I think Kobe was always without fanfare? I could be mistaken.
Perhaps because it was tsuyu, and actively raining?
Really fun and informative video! And i really love that you focus on the travel experiences, not being in front of the camera. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent. Nice to see a cruise ship of that size rather than the soulless slab sided monsters that hold thousands of passengers. I've only been on one cruise but have to admit it was a bit longer than 40 hours - it was actually 43 days! I did the first half of the ship's round the world trip, London to Auckland, crossed 2 oceans and through the Panama canal. It was not much larger than the Asuka 2, 63,500 tons and around 1000 passengers. Loved every minute and it seems that all cruise lines just want to feed you all day! Our food was always good too. That was in 2018 and unfortunately the cruise line who owned her went broke due to the pandemic so the ship was sold and eventually scrapped. Such a shame, it was a really nice ship, cabins were more spacious than the Azuka but then I didn't have a balcony, just a window. Looking forward to part 2, I grew up next to the River Thames and have always been interested in ships so I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for taking us with you on your journeys.
This ship reminds me of the Enterprise from Star Trek! Super cool brother! Them sweet treats sure look yummy!
I definitely got the same vibe from the color scheme 😄
I respect how you clean your plate.
A Saturday video and a big ship. Let's make a habit of this! Thanks for the journeys and taking us along.
Whenever I've been up late watching too many scary things, I always calm down and relax with one of your videos. Your journeys are lovely and interesting and I love to see the food too!
Now imagine, that most of our Scandinavian ferries are pretty similiar but they also have a car deck so they double as both cruise ships and transportation. The Silja Line ferries between Stockholm and Helsinki with their walking streets inside the ship was the inspiration for most modern cruise ships of today. You should give them a try! :)
🇦🇽 Stop in Mariehamm, Åland, for delicious food and EU duty free shopping! 😎✌️
Japanese ferries are constructed the same way. This is a cruise ship, which is an entirely different thing.
@@mrblanche The interesting thing with some of the ships in Scandinavia is that they are cruise ferries. In many way they look like quite modern cruise ships. Royal Caribbean actually copied the interior multi story "street" from a Silja Line ferry. The Norwegian cruise ferries from Color Line carries 2600 or so passengers, they are pretty much the size of a medium cruise ship.
@@rowaystarco Did you know that Norwegian Cruise Lines once operated an old ferry as a cruise ship? One of the unluckiest ships ever built, the Viking Saga.
When I was younger I would go on cruises. Always got the cheapest room. The room service was free but cheaper rooms had more limited menus. I would find out what they could get in the fancy cabins and order that. They crew didn’t know what could go where. So I’d be ordering filet mignon at 3am. It was great.
Looks like the old Crystal Harmony. Launched back in 1990.
He mentioned it was Crystal Harmony at beginning!
The port building is very interestingly built - it resembles a ship! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for letting me experience your world❤
Thanks for the super thanks!
Everytime you do the boat vids it always makes me laugh how you slightly hover over the lifejacket 😂 you're like am I going to need this today? 😂
I cruised on this ship when she was the Crystal Harmony! Nice to see her again :)
I knew you would find curry somehow!! 😂😂
The Asuka is beautiful! I was hoping you still had room for the course dinner after all those delicious snacks! I’ve been binge watching your videos from two years ago and I’ve really been enjoying them all. Hope it brings your numbers up! Thanks for sharing this with us, I live in the USA.
I love your videos of Japan. Thank you so much for inviting me to see Japan.
Awesome experience ! Greetings from Taiwan 🇹🇼
مجھے سمندری سفر کرنے کا بہت شوق ہے اسی لئے بحری جہازوں کی ویڈیوز اکثر دیکھتا رہتا ہوں
What a lovely ship, and the food looks fabulous. I am envious of that chocolate matcha orange ball. I have been on a cruise before, and enjoyed it, but it was a week long, and stormy. I am looking forward to the next installment of your adventures.
Thank you for your videos, love them
This makes me so happy! Thank you!
Great content. I love it as always. Thanks. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
I ❤CRUISING! We sail out of New Orleans and go to the Caribbean. Like, you, we eat lots of great food and watch shows. But the thing I love the most is finding a quite spot and just looking out into the endless blue, blue sea. It's sooo relaxing. I know you're going to LA, but I reccommend New Orleans. IN THE WINTER! It has amazing food, but it's hard to enjoy it when you're so hot your stomach's cramping. It's warm even in January-- 22C/ 70F. Btw, i knew you'd be having curry for dinner. I know you too well now to think it could be anything else. LOL! Keep up the amazing videos!
What a stunning cruise! 🤩🤘Thankyou for always cruising 🛳
Crystal has been a very luxurious cruise line. That is a good-looking ship. Room service used to be free on all American cruise lines, but that is changing.
When you went back to "just look" at the dessert bar again I was yelling "step away from that cake 🎂😂"
The beef at dinner did look amazing.
A cruise ship?! Wooohooo!!! 🎉🎉 I can’t wait to get home and watch this! ❤
Food looks incredible!
This is not the episode to watch when you are on a treadmill, trying to lose weight. Each dessert and meal looked so delicious and mouth-watering. Can't wait for episode 2.
Debussy's《Claire de lune》went along very well with the cakes, I think. Lovely ship btw, many thanks
Seemed very quiet. Food looked nice though. Those little desserts just encourage you to eat more, lol.
I'm happy this cruise sailed as planned! Thank you for sharing your travels!
Your Anthropomorphism (擬人化) with the Tug, and also the Vegetables cheering the Rib Eye, is high quality STJ humour! And no wonder you were full after eating a Strawberry Moose 🤣
A FANTASTIC video...and still a day and a half to go! Thank you SO much! My favorite moment was 22:55 "I changed my mind". Well done! Cruises are all about indulgence. I'm glad you sacrificed for all of us! 😊😊😊 Thank you again.
Looks an incredible cruise. And don't worry for your health , you're just enjoying some food pleasures . Thanks for sharing us your experience on that ship 🙏
Wow! Looking forward to Episode 2!! How fun & lovely for you, thanks for sharing, especially the serene moon video moment!!
I noticed on your videos you are careful not to video any of the guests which is thoughtful on your part. It does make it seem like you are alone on the ships. I like your videos very much and would love to visit your beautiful country.
Great video! I actually like rainy days. You always make me laugh when it's almost lunch/dinner time and you say I'll just have a cup of tea. But then when you return you have several sweet treats.
Awesome video as always!
Wow…this comment section!! Just because it isn’t to your taste doesn’t mean you have to bring the vibe down with your words. Damn. I hope you enjoyed yourself STJ. As always, I have enjoyed watching.
Thank you for tasting all that food. 😂. It gives us an idea of what to expect if we go. Very gourmet. I love how empty the ship was, I don’t like lots of people.
Thank you for another amazing video STJ! 😊
For the first 22 minutes, it seemed that you were the only passenger on the entire ship.
Love that resolve you have... "I should just enjoy the view and have a drink".. and then you have a tray full of sweets and a nice drink... lol!!! LOVE IT!!! My resolve would have melted looking at all those delicious desserts too!!! Loved the trip and the cruise ship itself.
Thank you for sharing
Wow! The Big Square Dinner Plate shown at the introduction was so big in that restaurant you need a GPS and a Compass to find your meal on it.
Great looking ship. Room smaller but has all one needs.
The moon on the water is beautiful
Thank you for another great video! I can't wait for part 2! :)
I love that you are branching out a more and trying new experiences so that we your viewer can also have some new experiences.
I appreciate your videos so much...thank you for sharing them with us.
Thank you for sharing your voyage
You just made my night!!!!!
I visited there before, it was good service. 私も船旅は好きです、久しぶりの飛鳥ありがとうございます
Surprised to see meals and snacks even without rice. Did the chefs forget to order it or crew forget to pack it? :) lol Such a lovely cruise on a beautiful ship. I stayed at a fancy hotel in Chicago, IL USA where the hallways were confusing like that with so many rooms looking the same
Thank you again,. Enjoyed this trip as usual 💛💥🤩
That last shot of the moon over the water made me want to be there so much! I think you need a travel friend. I will travel with you!
Watching this is making me so hungry 🤤
Nice cozy cabin
You made a face with the desserts on your plate. ❤
A much longer trip and a lot more to see on board can't wait for part 2, thank you for sharing your journey
"Dinner is at 6pm. i should just have a drink" /Camera inevitably pans down to a tray full of snacks/ Love it~ 😂❤ i wouldn't be able to resist either, that look so delicious~! Thank you for sharing another delightful journey with us STJ~! 🎶
glad to see you upgraded from ferries, and those are more than adequate.
That's a lovely room / suite. It looks classy and luxurious.
Thank you for letting us know what decks these places were on. Beautiful ship, looking forward to part two.
Another Amazing cruise ❤
Such a beautiful ship and the food variety is amazing. I like it!
With the Japanese, a luxury cruise is just that, a luxury cruise.
Deares !Thank you very very much for capturing every moment beautifully!
Beautiful ship, I love the cabin. Cruising with luxury! So glad to go along with this trip.💕
I always wanted to see the inside of a luxurious cruise ship, and you showed us this great one. Thank you for this fabulous video and your efforts. I have a great time watching it.
