  • The "amuse" is short for the French "Amuse-bouche" (literally to "make your mouth happy"), and it's a one or two bite appetizer that's usually just a chance for the chef to show-off his/her creativity and talent

  • This is so much fun to watch! A very long time ago I was the production singer on the original Asuka. She was a sister ship of the Crystal Harmony. Must have been smaller because we often sailed this route but we did go through the inland sea at night. I was always fascinated by the squid fishing vessels and their bright lights shining at night. These older ships do not have thrusters so they need tugboat help to dock. I enjoyed waving to the tugboat sailors and they often seemed very surprised! These carpets, curtains and dishes all look familiar to me after all of these years! Also, Kobe was my disembarkation port and I was very homesick and ready to return to the US after 6 months onboard. I remember that balcony in the terminal and waving goodbye to my friends in the crew who remained onboard. It was a very interesting experience to be an American on a Japanese ship before e-mail was common and definitely wasn’t available onboard. I love seeing your ferry trips and would love to return to Japan someday now that I’m older and wiser! I look forward to part two!

I love your ship videos so much, the pace and all, especially there is a sense of tranquility about them, there is no music playing in the videos, the background noises tuned down, and other souls rarely appeared in the frames, it feels like as if you were the only passenger on the ship! You are one of the most stylish KZheadrs at work, and your 'silent' videos are not without a sense of healing touch. I am chasing to watch back all your precious ship videos these days. And the good news is after watching them all, I can always come back to these unique videos again and again and enjoy the tranquility at sea! Take good care and keep ferrying ;-)

  • Excellent. Nice to see a cruise ship of that size rather than the soulless slab sided monsters that hold thousands of passengers. I've only been on one cruise but have to admit it was a bit longer than 40 hours - it was actually 43 days! I did the first half of the ship's round the world trip, London to Auckland, crossed 2 oceans and through the Panama canal. It was not much larger than the Asuka 2, 63,500 tons and around 1000 passengers. Loved every minute and it seems that all cruise lines just want to feed you all day! Our food was always good too. That was in 2018 and unfortunately the cruise line who owned her went broke due to the pandemic so the ship was sold and eventually scrapped. Such a shame, it was a really nice ship, cabins were more spacious than the Azuka but then I didn't have a balcony, just a window. Looking forward to part 2, I grew up next to the River Thames and have always been interested in ships so I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for taking us with you on your journeys.

The Silja Line ferries between Stockholm and Helsinki with their walking streets inside the ship was the inspiration for most modern cruise ships of today. You should give them a try! :)
