And I am sick of hearing "my truth". There is ONE TRUTH and it is called THE TRUTH.
"My truth" sounds like saying, " the way I want to recall what happened.." Her body language and choices of words show she is full of BS. His body language, consistency, copies of exchanges in conversation, consistent pitch and speed when speaking and eye contact show he is innocent.
What are some of the distinctions you would look for in your behavior to distinguish "my truth" from "the truth"?
Yeah, I mean I get that saying in some context. But if he had intercourse or not with her like she said at 17 is a pretty universal truth if he did or not. She didn't even say "sexual relations" which could be open to interpritation arguably, but she said intercourse... either he did or he didn't, that is pretty specific claim.

When you're sexually abused your reality falls apart. The person who abuses you is usually a person of trust (a family member, a loved one), or someone you respect a lot and that has earned your trust. You don't want to hurt them by exposing the abuse (which most children feel it's wrong but don't know it's actual abuse), you care for this person, and yet you somehow have an idea that something inappropriate is happening, you don't want to get them in trouble. In Hollywood it becomes very problematic because the victims are usually child actors made to admire their abusers (usually older more famous actors), so turning on them requires extreme courage because it could turn over your entire world, and your career. People need to understand that sexual abuse is horribly complicated and that's why it's so horrible and should be prevented.

Defemation of character so it is, you can get sued for that. Don't know if she did or not (although I do get why some question her story based on what little I read of it) but it is not without consequences if you are caught lying about it. Given the DA threw her case out, or didn't move forward whatever it was specifically, I would ask why he wouldn't sue her if she was lying given it would seem he has a case.

I know body language is very easy to put weight into. I did too at one point. Looking up doesn't necessarily mean you're lying. You could be looking up to prevent crying from happening. You could be looking off because you're disassociating. Tons of different reasons why you could he doing this

I couldn't tell you who's telling the absolute truth here, but what I do know as a victim is that the effects of the trauma as a child make recall very difficult and denial is a very strong force. As a child your mind is unable to cope with the betrayal and violation so buries it deep, deep into the subconscious. The trauma manifests itself later in what appears to others to be irrational behaviours that conceal the root of it (promiscuity, vindictiveness, aggression, alienation, etc.). No amount of prying will unveil your dark secrets. You continue to pursue a loving relationship with the abuser that so artfully groomed you because your adult mind has not yet fathomed the horrors they subjected you to. Over many, many years the memories are nothing but a faint murmur you don't yet associate with abuse, even as they become more vivid. Then suddenly you have an epiphany and immediately the feelings of disgust, anger, and sorrow come flooding into consciousness, followed by a very long period of agony. Mine came at the age of 40 (that's about 30 years after the fact), which in my case plunged me into depression. This is all something I think would be very difficult for others to comprehend, but thankfully therapists that specialise in such cases understand it completely.
It's hard to believe her since she was so willing to work with her alleged abuser after the show.

She never sued him that I know of, so not sure how she would be after money unless it was jsut being paid for the interviews. But I do admit, Nicole Eggert was my childhood crush, I thought the girl was a goddess walking the earth. but it sure doesn't look like she is telling the truth. The multiple people backing up he was inappropriately grabby is suspect, but a lot of her details do not add up so at the very least it sure looks like she exaggerated what was really happening.

Yeah, I want to believe her because I had a huge crush on Nicole Eggery when I was a kid and saw Charles in Charge. But what little I had read (just found out about this today) does have conflicting stories, some could be equated to memory of that long ago being fuzzy, but that would not explain all of it. The only thing that has me wondering is she has 2 people backing up he at least was inapropriately touchy feeling with her on the set, and even if she was "ok with it" she was 14... that is him manipulating her if that happened. Technically three people backing her given the radio interviewer. It does seem weird they would all lie for her, which is the only thing that gives me pause Baio might not be completely innocent. But I did notice her stories didn't always add up, and apparently the DA didn't think they had enough to move forward. So definitely not out of the question she was lying.

I did the same thing. I lied for years about my abuse. People knew what was happening but I lied. I just started being honest a few years ago and started therapy and it feels so much better now. I didn't realize the pain I was in mentally until I faced it. It was the hardest thing I've ever faced but absolutely the most rewarding.

She is telling the truth. Im 38 and just now coming to grips with abuse I suffered at the hands of my step father growing up. I spent my entire life telling everyone that he was the best dad I could have asked for and how grateful I was to him for raising me as his own. I was suppressing the abuse and told so many lies I think I was even telling the lies to convince myself. I commend her for coming out with her truth. It is so important and hard. It helps to hear others stories so that I know I'm not crazy and I'm not the only one that coped with childhood abuse in this way.

But the two sides are giving basically the same facts and the big difference is in how those facts are being framed. Example: they both say they dated when she was 17. No dispute. But she calls it “molestation” because she was under the age of consent legally. So to me it’s not about believing her, it’s about whether you think it’s fair or sincere to re-cast a relationship between willing participants, 30 years later, as “molestation.” You can probably tell how I come out on that, and you probably disagree. But it ain’t about believing her. I believe her too and I don’t agree with what she’s doing.

Mikael Dennison I know it’s a questionable but I have to say I was about the age when I went through something similar. I wasn’t able to tell anyone about it until i was 50 years old. I still suffer from those issues until this day. I hope that at some point in time you can be more compassionate about these issues.

The sad thing is that we do bury things deep down in our subconscious. Things like this only come to life when triggered. And then there it is right in front of you. She is very BRAVE to speak about sexual abuse that happened to her, it is cloaked in embarrassment, self loathing, low self esteem and feelings of worthlessness and it is hidden with a smile. Sometimes this kind of trauma does not come out until decades later and sometimes never at all. Some people take it to the grave.

I was molested by my brother and I was very kind and loving to him when I was younger and "under his control" so to speak. However as I got older and realized that the abuse was actually abuse I quickly changed my tune. It has a lot to do with how your adults, friends, family, etc. handle your outcry, if people believe you, etc. Once your feelings are validated that's when the truth comes out and the jig is up for the molester!

I do believe her. Until you have lived through something similar, it is hard to understand why she would lie originally. Someone victimized(especially as a child) puts up walls and makes excuses to downplay the trauma. It is very common for the brain to do this in order to protect itself. We can make ourselves believe "it wasn't that bad" or "I wanted it" in order to not feel like a damaged, wounded victim.
What if your husband, brother, father, whoever, was being accused with no proof? See this is a problem. I’m a woman and if a man assault’s a female, he deserves all the heartache in the world. I also agree that people do put up an emotional wall. I get all of that. I’m not saying she’s lying but I’m not saying she’s not. We don’t know. And due process is so important. I feel horrible for people who were molested but I also feel horrible for someone being accused but no way of proving innocence And really a person shouldn’t have to prove their innocence.
