The topic of this video is vocabulary and speech in and around the house. Furniture, objects in the different areas of an apartment or in the garden. This video is for German level A1. But even if you are in an A2 German course, you will benefit from this vocabulary. In this German lesson you will also learn grammar:
Perfect tense
The perfect in German is formed by using the auxiliary verb "haben" or "sein" in the present tense, followed by the past participle of the verb. Sometimes there are irregular participles that need to be learned because they are not formed according to the regular pattern. The perfect tense is also frequently used in spoken language and is an important part of everyday conversations.
"Yesterday I went to the supermarket and did some shopping."
"I also made myself some tea."
"It hasn't rained for a long time."
Prepositions followed by the dative
There are some prepositions in German that are always used with the dative. Some of them are:
from: for example: "from the house"
at: for example: "at work"
with: for example: "by car"
after: for example: "after school"
since: for example: "since the morning"
from: for example: "from the teacher"
to: for example: "to the doctor"
These prepositions always require the dative case when used in a sentence. They usually describe a position, direction or relationship to something or someone.
"I'll dry them with the hairdryer."
"Now I'm going to the closet."
"I have a lot of work to do in the garden."
Separable verbs
are verbs in which the prefix (part of the verb) in the infinitive is separated from the rest of the verb. When conjugating in different tenses and with different personal pronouns, the prefix is moved to the end of the sentence. With separable verbs, it is important to note that the prefix changes position during conjugation depending on which verb is used.
"The shower feels very nice."

"I'll light the grill."
modal verbs
are a special group of verbs that express a modality or a certain way. They indicate ability, possibility, necessity or permission. They are most often used with an infinitive of the main verb. Modal verbs change the sentence in terms of meaning. They can be used in the present, past and perfect tenses.
"I want everything to be perfect."
“We want our guests to see our driveway clean.”
"I want to wash my hair."
