Spot on mate,as a villa fan i watch every single match. Ollie watkins goes completely under the radar it seems,he gets double figures each season & gets overlooked most of the time by Englands international setup. He's improved so much since villa have had Unai emery as the manager & only now seems to be getting noticed alot more by football people in general. After Harry kane i firmly believe Ollie is the best english striker. Has so much more than just goals to his game,he stretches defenders so teammates can score aswell. A must for the upcoming euro's for me. 👍

Callum Wilson is also in the same conversation as Watkins. Both in good form at the moment. If Toney hits the ground running when he returns from his ban, it’ll be these three competing to be Kane’s back up at the Euro’s.

People seem to forget that whoever is Kanes understudy will very likely ONLY get on the pitch barring a major Injury , and Kane is NOT Inury prone in VERY limited and specific circumstances where tactically Egkand require certain attributes so its almost a moot point who goes to the Euros in this role ,,they will just be getiing splinters in their ass Apart fron the obvious resting of Kane of England qualify already after 2 games, at the pointy knock out end of the competition GS Is most lilely only going to bring on the understudy LATE on In the game , within the last 10 minutes when certain characterisitcs are needed in certain specific sceanrios as follows Maybe Engand are winnng and want to close out the game Or heading towards extra time Kane will play nearly every minute of every game we know that And one thing Is absolutely certain He will NOT be taken off if England are in need of a goal No way Or headed towards penalties So its fair to say, barring an Injury , the 2nd strIker is NEVER going to be on the pitch in a situation where England need a goal without Kane ALSO being on the pitch too So the last thing you want is Kane "light " as your only option to change things up In the scenarios most likely Its better to have a player who brings sonething very different to the team than Kane Thats why I think Watkins is the best choice If he's on the pitch without Kane also present it will ONLY be when England are winnng and likely because England want to close the game down and you want to defend from the front , press the opposition high up , harrass the defenders not giving them time on the ball If he's on the pitch WITH Kane it will only be if England need a goal so it will be to add extra pressure on tired defenders and run in behind and into the channels to make space FOR Kane and others , stretch the defence In ths scenario the last thing you want is a player who will favour to occupy Kanes position forcing Kane deeper or wider , you want Kane to be central and in the box on the end of any chances Wtakins is the BEST at all these things out of the prospective candidates , by FAR the most versatile who will bring something different om the pitch He offers far more off the ball and is the most aggressive presser exaclty what you want to defend a lead fron the front and excels at running Into space and at stretching the defence and working tirelessly , a defenders nightmare even if he's not scoring he's creating the space foe others to So for me In the scanrios a 2nd Striker is most likely to be on the pitch for England Watkins is by far the best choice
He is but really we should go to a 4-4-2 it really suits England's strengths especially with Kane dropping back the way he does

@@ShawnGitahi you clearly don’t watch football lol Toney is the closest thing to Kane he’s Heavily involved in build up every time he plays, his “creative numbers” don’t show in the basic ones you look at as a stat person coz he doesn’t get the assists he drops deep and give the ball to the person who usually gives it back to him for the goal. He’s involved at ALL phases
Toney is a good player. Looking at the stats, Toney makes more progressive passes, Watkins makes more progressive carries. Toney has a higher xG but take out penalties and Watkins is higher. It obviously helps that Watkins is playing in an arguably better team so he doesn't have to drop deep any more, which is what he was doing with Gerrard (and it not working out). If you swapped them, they'd probably do a very similar job.
