  • i just debugged for 13 straight hours at work and i know that an AI will for sure solve the problems i solved today in just seconds. i cant describe how pointless this feels. i wrote agents that do similar stuff and i know it's gonna happen extremely soon. all the developers will become business analysts or be reviewing AI pull requests. give it a year until it rolls out

    • The scary thing is that people in other fields only have slightly less optimistic timelines until their own obsolescence, but almost no one seems to realize that or its ramifications

  • Love your content and coverage of AI and LLMs. You should consider covering an application of AutoGen combined with MemGPT and potential for the future.

  • I wonder if it would be permitted to have a chat bot in China perhaps called ZZ ping which would make president z look like one of the members of ZZ top. The character could look like a ZZ top with the long beard and also be on the body of a panda and I suppose that that might cause issues with the Communist party.

  • Dr Alan D. Thompson posted a video covering the launch of Baidu ERNIE 4.0 with an English voiceover. The footage, spanning nearly 3 hours, featured the official launch, with Ilya Sutskever from OpenAI appearing. A comment references concerns about China's AI ambitions related to their Social Credit System, although Dr. Thompson hasn't addressed this issue on his platform. The video attracted over 600 views and several comments within the first few hours of posting.

    • Hi there, dragon, It’s good to see you commenting on Dr. Thompson’s video. Just curious because I don’t remember whether you use Ernie or not. Did you use Ernie for your comments here?

  • Interesting video, I was hoping for Dr Thomas to comment on this, especially how Ernie bot compares to GPT4. Also, wonder how Ernie would function if any prompts were given that treads on anything that is in the realm of sensitive political topics in China. I understand that any product of this sort needs to pass scrutiny of China's censorship.

  • I was watching Dave Shapiro talking about information and flms and that one of the problems that they have in China is that they regulate the information to make sure that the chat box don't make fun of the Chinese premiere making him look like a panda bear or something like that and that the problem is is that the over-regulation of information inputs is going to limit the ability of these things to progress very well and that we don't have such a problem in the United States and the west. Is the censorship and regulation of these information chatbots going to be a limiting factor in China?

  • Hey Alan, i found Lex Fridmans Interview with Marc Andreessen where he is concerned about the China AIs and their alignment because the CCP wants to use future AI/AGI/ASI for their Social Credit System, which is very authorative and invasive to put it mildly. Are you concerned with this? You have a Graphic on your Site where you show AGI will be most likely be born in the USA, so i think this is one of the reasons i didnt read anything from you about this topic. Thanks!

  • The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the founding and ruling political party of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The CCP leads the country through a "one-party" system, where it holds an overarching control over state and government functions. The party has been known to enforce strict regulations and surveillance measures to maintain social control, including developing and implementing technology like facial recognition and a Social Credit System. There's a growing concern internationally about how the CCP could use advanced AI technologies to further or leverage these controls in geopolitically competitive ways. This concern extends to Chinese tech companies and their AI developments, as showcased in the comments regarding Baidu's ERNIE 4.0 in Dr. Alan D. Thompson's video.

    • @rawfromnowhere I'm still determining the intent behind this scrambled transcript, but it seems like a mishmash of topics without clear direction. If you're trying to share information, I recommend structuring it coherently. Critique aside, the issue of generative AI is intriguing. Would love to see a more organized presentation.

    • @@I-Dophler "管好你自己(Take care of yourself)" is a common Chinese education method. "管" can mean "take care", "manage", or "control". Such ambiguity leads to him being able to use seemingly caring words in an aboveboard way to control others. and has the upper hand in an argument, even if he has no basis for it, and implying "You should be controlled, but I can't be".That's why rawfromnowhere said

    • @user-uk9wo9qk2v It's fascinating to see the advancements in AI and how they're being applied in various fields, including medicine and search. The capabilities of Foundation models like Ernie 4.0 are awe-inspiring, from understanding and generating content to reasoning and memory. The way these models can provide tailored answers and solutions is a game-changer. The new search interface you mentioned, focusing on ultimate satisfaction, recommendation, and stimulation, sounds like a significant step forward in improving user experience. The generative AI era could revolutionize many aspects of our lives. I look forward to seeing how these AI-native applications continue to evolve and shape the future.
