It's just that Kazuya was such a good standout character on his own (and showed other influences too, since he also ripped his hairstyle from Vegeta) that people forget that yes, there was a definite Ryu influence in Kazuya's design - it's even part of how they tried to trick you into thinking he was the good guy!

  • The fact that alisa is a fttawsbftma character with generally good pokes, movement, and punishment makes her kind of a weird mix of three archetypes (poking, fttawsbftma, turtle). Great video by the way :>>

  • Sincerely, thanks for this video. For a long time I could not for the life of me differentiate between tekken characters besides King and... everybody else. This video helps me better understand what makes tekken characters unique. Before this I thought everybody just wanted to fish for whiff punishes and launchers for big combos.

  • Man I really appreciate how much thought and revision you give to what you say before making the video. Always when I watch a video I try to find the gaps in what has been said, but your video is perfection. Much love and respect as always! Although you are not rewarded by the devs as you should be, but you always have a special place in every Tekken player's memory and heart.

  • Thank you for this video and the explanations. I've been binge watching Tekken 7 videos for the last 4 days now since I'll be getting it once there's a Steam sale. I only played Tekken 3 like 2 times back on PS1, and I've been playing only GGAC+R and KOF 2002UM for awhile. Since I'm a sucker for kunoichis, Kunimitsu caught my eye and this game looks like lots of fun. Can't hardly wait.

    @8-Frames@8-Frames2 жыл бұрын
  • This was extremely helpful and well explained. The FTTAWSBFTMA style character, as its officially called I'm sure, is probably what I would play, or at least Kunimitsu. Aside from that, Leo or Julia interest me the most. I am so glad that you listed characters with defensive options like parries or counters for my gf to play, which similar videos don't mention.

  • It's so interesting to get a vibe for the culture of another game, like clearly the whole "flying bullshit" character type is a big meme and frustrating mechanic, but as a Smash player that kind of range closing move is essential for many character types and is considered a perfectly reasonable tool for the most part. Instead we get annoyed by other stuff like extreme turtle characters since large and often comital movement is such a big part of the natural game flow.

    @EliTheGleason@EliTheGleason3 жыл бұрын
  • Sensing just a wee bit of resentment with the, "FTTAWSBFTMA" category. Kind of surprised there wasn't a distinction for "stance" characters. Though with the way multiple archetypes bleed into each other in Tekken, defining a stance character is tough. Depending on you want to define a stance, damn near everyone has at least one; you could consider various crouch dashes as stances.

  • The movement of Tekken is one of the reasons why I think it’s the only one I play a grappler (King) with it. In 2D games I feel like the movement is too restrictive - they often times have slow walk speed, sometimes no dash, no air dash, etc. But King and Tekken in general is so different. The game is played way closer up, you don’t necessarily have to keep running in and closing the gap the way you would in traditional 2D fighters. King can turtle and use movement to move in and get to his effective range, but he’s also a formidable brawler as well.
