My parents told me the actual truth as soon as I asked them when I was 4. I even asked things like "but what happens if you need to pee?" They told me as little details as possible, but I kept asking for clarification and calling out contradictions. I was a little Sherlock Holmes wanting to understand everything about life and the universe. I'm going to do the same with my kids. I'll wait until they ask me and then I'll answer truthfully. If I'm not sure or don't know the answer, I'll look it up with them. If they're asking a question, they're ready to hear the answer.
