In this video we show you how a bike camper is built. The idea and the design is from Paul Elkins. the whole construction plan can be bought on his homepage elkinsdiy.com/.
my last mobile home weighs 10 tons and is almost 9 meters long. I sold it because the big kids stopped coming. Florian and I are now building a bike camper. a micro camper which is very light and can be easily pulled by bicycle. The frame is made of wood and very easy to build. We're looking forward to the vacation. soon comes part 2 where you can see how the shell is built. thanks to polyroly.com for the very clever trailer drawbar.
Great to see you two working together. Reminds me of working on projects with my dad.
Looking forward to the next part!👍🏼😁
OK, so the camper was the reason I clicked, but I have to say in my 9 years in Germany, and many weekend trips to Switzerland, I never saw a European driving an American pickup. Good to see things can change.
Ive been meaning to build one of these for years thank you for doing a video that looks like a complicated way to attach the camper to a bike is the demonstrated torsion resistance the only benefit
I was wondering about the torsion mount also. It seems unnecessary to me.
Loved your video plus great music as I'm going to check out Part Two.
Thanks for shearing. M gonna built one.
What a nice frame of bike camper !
Me encantó tu vídeo.

Fabulous 👌👍 I'll make one for my house construction.
I love building too and have been making the teardrop campers regular size, but I want to make a small one for a motor bike. I will put that on my channel so you can see what I have learned from you thanks for the share.
It helped me to learn how to mount up the wheels. Thanks.
Thanks! Would you be willing to add specific product links or descriptions? Especially for the bicycle tow bar! Want this for a homeless project. Blessings!
First of all. Let me say "Thank You" for posting videos 🎥 like this. I "do like" the construction of the trailer. Light weight. Sturdy. (Although I "am a little concerned" about the placement of it's wheels.) It seems there would be excess stress on the front. (If wheels were more to the center to balance. Or Place a third wheel in the front area. This would "increase load capacity". AND. "Stabilize" it better. But. This is just my humble opinion. You did a great job. Thanks.
Excellent skills, recommend safety glasses as well!
Esto es increíble!! Me encanta!!! saludos desde Argentina!
Awesome work! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Moin. 🔨 Projekt! 👍
you guys, I just saw your 3 videos. I really love the way you build the 2 bicycle trailers and how they turn out to be. for me, better than the original nomad bicycle trailer this guy sell you the plans. any way , Great Job and Great mini homes. keep up the good work. greetings from Mexicali, Mexico
Great video and fantastic idea. I want to build one similar 👍 cheers
Complimenti , bellissimo e utilissimo!
Muito bacana esse projeto, parabéns meus amigos. 🇧🇷
You have some very nice looking lumber.
Very nice work looks very sturdy.
Excellent post, thank you for sharing.
🤗
Oh danke, das ist sehr schön geworden 👍
bitte gerne🤗
sweet wheel mounting brackets .... i think the hardest part of any of these little trailers is figuring out how to mount up your wheels.
tolles Video, ich liebe es ...
Nice work
very good video
Nice man
Saubere Arbeit!
Hi Lukas !Was eine coole Konstruktion !😎👍👍Es ist ja doch keine Rikscha geworden !🤣 Ich wünsche dir noch viel Spaß in Köln !😎🤘
super la vidéo
Great video....smart way of using wood instead of metal....
thx for yor nice feedback
Move the battery in the camper or add another one there for extra help with pulling. Awesome idea this camper nonetheless!
good idea😊
What a great idea going build one using kids small bikes before i really go homeless
Good job
I started a build and got the frame and most of the body completed. HAd to move. Inspired to start building again :)
great!

Geiles Projekt!!!
Cool so cool
Thanks for the video Jenni. Interesting.Youngster should be using safety glasses. Get them in to good habits, not bad when young.
Everyone mentioned that the kid should wear safety glasses, but dad is just rockin prescription lenses. No side shields. They both need a pair I would think.
Schönes Video!
danke dir 😊🍀
Amazing my friend. You have a good idea. I' m wayting for secondo part. Like 10144
Cool video. Cheers! : )
Good build and interesting on the word of caution being someone who have had metal splinters in his eye, please get your son at least to ware eye protection when drilling and grinding
@Donald J you should write books

Excellent choice in music.
Did I like it!?! Nooo! I loves it!!! 😁👍❤️
Mega toll super
Excelente trabajo, saludos desde Colombia. Puedes compartir los planos?
Cool!
Nice build ! I wish I could join you on this bike trip, but I'm not ready to build this trailer on time. Maybe next time, if there will be one ... Are you going to Maker Faire Hannover ?
Do you think a wooden frame weighs more than say a metal bedframe?i have heard that it's very hard to get paint to stick to coroplast but i was wondering if it was possible to use a spray on bed liner for trucks to make it more resistant to damage and to darken the color so it doesn't stand out as much...thanks
very good.
Nice
hello I was inspired by the base of your trailer This base is very solid
I Like this Video
a good wood always good
I want one so bad lol I crams with 3 other and some times five others in small camper with 1 bedroom for my parents and a couch for and a bunk area, but the floors rotted and theres bug but we took what we could to have a home, because my moms boyfriend who has a gambling problem got us thrown out of 2 other 3 bedroom houses, but that aside it be nice to have my own space I have no bike though lol thanks so much for this 🤣🤣❤
Saugeil! 😎🤙
Nice of you to apprentice your son in your builds. Safety glasses are cheap and great insurance against eye damage. I enjoyed the jazz manouche background music. Nice touch. I enjoy your channel. A "Jack of all trades" you are.
that is true👍
I like it
Jolie bulout Jenni 💪💪💪⚒⚒⚒👌👌👌 Salutations du Valais my friend 👌⚒😉(Wallis kanton)
hallo schweiz🍀
Parabéns! Professor estou assistindo agora aqui seu canal do Brasil😃😨
Nice job, just a question: what was the rationale of placing the trailer's wheels all the way back? Here, the coupling with the bike has a heavier load compared to when the wheels were centered more, and, the turning radius had been better.
otherwise when you want to get out the trailer ends up balancing and its very annoying.
Right, you'd have to put fold out legs either side of the wheels. This way you only need to do it on one side. Also I'd say the difference in weight isn't really that significant.
nice
Cool to see someone still build a frame by wood. I'm just not sure if its a good idea to have the wheels completly at the back. That will cause a lot of weight on the towing bar and the wheel of the bike.
I assume there won't be anyone in it when he is cycling with it, so it won't be that much weight. And when he is camping in it he will probably have fold down legs at the front.
@@danhunters8226 Of course there is nobody in it when we is cycling with it. But if you look at the specification of many available drawbars, they are made for a load of about 4kg. Having the wheels almost in the miffle thats easy to achieve. Most bike camper have a weight of 50kg or far more. With the wheels at the back you will hhave half of that weight on your drawbar and the backwheel of your bike. That's 25kg and more instead of the rather common 4kg. When talking about the weight, we talk about the static load only. They dynamic load on a bumpy road is even much higher.
PS: Es gibt weichere Schlafunterlagen :)
Is there a variation that doesn't require welding? I don't have access to that, or complex machinery.
I’m surprised the design calls for aluminum plate to fabricate the wheel hub mounting brackets. Seems like you would get a lot of lateral deflection under load (when you are sleeping on the trailer). Can’t wait to see the finished build. Please include how much the finished trailer weighs!
yes, I will do that👍
Great job guys! You've got wonderful working room! I like it!
Interessantes Projekt.
cool!
Love it! What kind of wood is that?
Perfect job.😊 .Best wishes Lhaj BELAAID work Shop from Morocco
I have a cot tent I would like to use this on the trailer I'm thinking that instead of having the wheels on the inside to put them on the outside of the trailer and build the bracket around the wheels similar to you have done on the inside of the trailer. What are your thoughts. Thank you
Tanks Jenn .
Great
Minutes 5 sinti jazz 👍👍👍
Is the wood frame lighter or heavier than a metal frame? like a bed frame for instance
I realise this is quite an old video now, do you happen to remember what dimensions you used for the wheel mounting plates? I am about to start working on my own trailer and the plates you made look perfect. Many thanks
make your own⭐️ its easy
Instant sub 1 st vid I watched 😘😘😘❤❤❤
Très sympa la musique.
Muito bom.
hello what is the type of wood used for the base?
