Nurse Dot’s time with Bula has come to an end but thanks to her help and insights, he is on the path to a bright future. On behalf of HESC and Wildlife Conservation Trust, a big THANK YOU to nurse Dot and Saving The Survivors. As the saying goes … teamwork makes the dream work. Together for the rhinos!

This dear little soul wants to cuddle, all 400 pounds of him! Not to mention his horn! His wee cries are so sweet. He's come a long way since his arrival. Thanks for taking such good care of him🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, this baby wants to cuddle and unfortunately is too big for its human. I wonder if these babies are similar in weight to baby elephants. I see videos with tourists cuddling little elephants and no one seems to get hurt. They (tourists and elephants) always have so much fun. I wonder if cuddling a baby rhino is simply too risky?
I guess I can answer my own question. This baby is quite a whopper. Never mind. Just feel so bad for it.
He looks to be about 200 pounds but that skin is thick so who knows. Maybe the angle of the shot makes Bula look smaller than he is.

I remember seeing a video of a baby rhino playing with a full size male German Shepherd. Was super cute. The same GSD had also been a companion to a baby elephant that lost it's mother. Unfortunately the baby elephant got sick and passed away, but the GSD gave him a buddy through the whole ordeal and allowed him to get some play time in before the end.
Bula wants so much attention, and does not realize how big and heavy he is. What a beautiful little rhino he is. Amazing the attachments formed with humans and that they respond to human love and care. Listen to that little high pitched call for petting! Hugs to Bula!

Little Bula is a cuddle bug he does not realize that there is a little difference between his weight and the one of nurse Dot Like all the babies he wants to be on mummy's laps He really knows how to express himself Really adorable ! Poor little baby. I had no idea they made such sweet noises, he even stamped his foot when he couldn't get in her lap. If he lays down, could she safely sit next to him & give him pets? I wonder what his weight is at this size?

A friend had a horse that would rest on his lap when she was a few months old. Years later he was sitting in a chair in the pasture under a tree. That same horse (a thousand or more pounds by then) tried to get in his lap and almost collapsed the chair with my friend in it before he got out from in under her. He thought it was funny but after that he paid way more attention to what she was doing when around him 😂

Try lying down with him…from behind…if your careful and consistent you’ll both be fine…obviously he loves you reaching out to you so now while he’s under a TON of love enjoy. My Belgium Heavy Drafts I trained from fillies and +2000 pounds and 5 years later we cuddle in the barn on piles of straw, no role over squashing me only snoring….ANIMAL LOVE!

She belongs to “Save the Survivors”, another great organization. She came to give an awesome helping hand when the 2 baby rhinos arrived. Now that Bula is doing good & passed the scary first weeks, she has to return to”Save the S…” 💖🦏

Awww... What a sweet little guy. It seems that no matter what the species, most animal babies need love and hugging and contact. I can't say that I've ever heard a Rhino make any sounds, he was sure whining for closeness and attention. Such a beautiful sweet lil' guy...

I want a baby rhino! LOL! I just love, love, love them! ❤ But it should be illgal world wide to keep wild animals, unless you have an accredited wildlife rescue org, and are doing all you can to release the animals back into the wild, and are keeping them in very large enclosures that are as close to wild surroundings as possible. The way most places in the US do it is insane and very cruel! To hell with the crazy idea that people should be able to do whatever they want, no matter how much the animals suffer! There is not a single state that has laws that are strict enough regarding animal welfare, and the animals all suffer immensely! And so do a great many people too, because of it. But at least people can speak. Because animals can't, we have at least double the responsibility to take care of them properly. Yet over half the people who have pets of some domesticated variety are not taking proper care of them, and wild animals are more than twice the commitment in every way. They take a massive amount of time money and energy. Most people who have pets have them for all the wrong reasons. But then the same goes for children too! People should be required to pass several types of test before they can have pets, children, or wild animals. And a large fee should paid for each pet to offset the costs to us all when the people negate on their responsibility to take proper care of them. After all, if you can't afford the substantial costs of keeping even just one cat, you shouldn't have one. But then, the US pretty much encourages every lunatic around to have a huge arsenal of guns and other weapons. So the consequences of having a whole zoo full of wild animals escaping, as does happen regularly there, are nothing compared to the results when a nutcase with guns goes on a rampage, as occurs nearly twice every week now. We just don't hear about most of them anymore because nobody cares anymore. They're so frequent now that they only get on the news when 10 or more people die! Google it! There is well over one every week! The US is nothing but one giant madhouse, but we should still care about those poor animals, including forbidding all ownership of wild animals, and restrictions on ownership of domestic animals, both pets and livestock.
That sad realization when you learn you can't be a lap puppy. I hope he can rest his head on his keeper's lap at least.
