    • @@Ab_Jannadi ABSOLUTE MATHEMATICAL PROOF THAT ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY: Time DILATION proves that ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY, AS E=mc2 is DIRECTLY AND FUNDAMENTALLY DERIVED FROM F=ma. Einstein's equations are NECESSARILY QUANTUM GRAVITATIONAL, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. In fact, the mathematical unification of Maxwell's equations AND Einstein's equations (given the addition of a fourth spatial dimension) proves that ALL of SPACE is NECESSARILY electromagnetic/gravitational IN BALANCE; AS E=mc2 is DIRECTLY AND FUNDAMENTALLY DERIVED FROM F=ma; AS time DILATION proves that ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. ACCORDINGLY, Einstein's equations predict that SPACE is expanding OR contracting in and with time. ALL of SPACE is NECESSARILY electromagnetic/gravitational IN BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. This is, in fact, CLEARLY proven by BOTH F=ma AND E=mc2. A PHOTON may be placed at the center of THE SUN (as A POINT, of course), AS the reduction of SPACE is offset by (or BALANCED with) the SPEED OF LIGHT; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. (Very importantly, outer "space" involves full inertia; AND it is fully invisible AND black.) Gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY are linked AND BALANCED IN AND OUT of SPACE AND TIME, as this is CLEARLY proven by time DILATION, F=ma, AND E=mc2. This ALSO explains the cosmological redshift AND the "black hole(s)". Gravity/acceleration involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. GRAVITATIONAL force/ENERGY IS proportional to (or BALANCED with/as) inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. "Mass"/ENERGY involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE consistent with/AS what is BALANCED electromagnetic/gravitational force/ENERGY, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. (Energy has/involves GRAVITY, AND ENERGY has/involves inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE.) ACCORDINGLY, FULL DISTANCE in/of SPACE, MIDDLE DISTANCE in/of SPACE, AND A POINT are all then in BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. Gravity IS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY. GREAT !!! This NECESSARILY represents, INVOLVES, and describes what is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE. Therefore, I have demonstrated the true mathematical UNIFICATION of physics/physical experience AS what is NECESSARILY electromagnetic/gravitational IN BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/ENERGY IS GRAVITY. • Very informative! This is an amazing discovery, now we know that the quantum mechanics have always been present since ancient times. Names will always change. According to cultural and political changes. Meaning may change but the essence of true intellect is there. Scientists are never satisfied even while sometimes having solid theories, until they have concrete evidence.... I was shook at $9B. Makes me think of our priorities. Even if technology gets better is it really worth all these resources? Curiosity killed the cat. That’s the saying isn’t it? As curious as we are we also have intelligence to know our limits and discern progress vs consequences. I’m sure there are far more sustainable ways to implement these advancements. But i guess in the end I have to admit we will always follow our desire for knowledge. Even if sometimes I wish compassion came first, I guess knowledge helps understanding between humans as we can finally grasp things as a whole. As understanding comes together peace can be closer to our reality.

During a lunch, Leon Lederman told me that his book about the Higgs boson was to be named the God dammed particle, because it was very difficult to find, but that his editor told him to drop the word dammed in order to sell better as a more serious book. That’s the real reason for the word God in the title!

Given that we have only five senses (or six, if you are willing to stretch the definition of senses) and need machines to interpret (e.g. a collider and computers) what nature is willing to give up in our discoveries, could we ever find those answers to human's need to "know"?

  • OK so the Higgs is unexplained as to where it comes from. So it gives matter it’s mass and that is what pulls time and distance “down” into quantifiable measurable amounts. Time is pulled down from everything being instantaneous and slows it down so physical things can take place. Likewise, distance that is infinite was pulled down into being measurable and limited amounts “where” life can take place. So we now have limited time and distance where the chemistry, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics can be ordered into being three dimensional living organisms. Do you want to discover where all of this power, order and written instruction is coming from? I can tell you that it is not from a physical source.

  • Excellent presentation. Thank you Shaun Carrol. Despite Shaun's undoubted intellectual talents, his vast knowledge of physics and astounding presentational skills, I have to disagree with him on one point. We DO NOT (yet), have a complete theory of the fundamental building blocks as Shaun has stated. We do not yet understand gravity and still, have not found the supposed "Graviton". We are still "stuck" at ALMOST understanding that gravity is the curvature of time, but are confused that this varying time rate also affects the "size" of space (space curvature). We are unsure which is fundamental, Space or Time and have made no progress in resolving this issue. I will give you the answer. TIME IS FUNDAMENTAL, and space is simply emergent from the process of time. To me, this seems quite obvious. In Special Relativity, as your clock slows with increasing speed, then the space (ahead of you) contracts. All this means is that as your clock slows down, it takes YOU, less time to cross any distance, until, at the speed of light, your clock has stopped altogether and it now takes you no time at all to get anywhere you like. Space has become meaningless to you. It has ceased to exist when your time has ceased to pass. Your motion has caused time to slow down, but the slowing of your time has caused space to "shrink". You have been moving through a "Time Rate Field" which slows your time down in accordance with Lorentz. Only motion through a sine wave can do this. The time rate field is a wavelike field of energy, an oscillating field of energy, which appears blue shifted to you as you move faster through the field. The field is the field of TIME !, and so the static field (of time), is proceeding faster than you and so YOUR field is running SLOWER as a result of your motion. You have literally red shifted, in that your progress into the future proceeds with a lower frequency. Yes, that's right, we all move into the future (the next state of existence) in a wavelike manner, faster then slower, then faster then,.........well you can see what I mean. This HAS to be the case when we consider how light is emitted in waves from any light source. What else would cause that, other than the oscillating frequency of all events? If you put a clock in completely empty space (yes I know), the damn thing will tick, not because you just put it there, but because time was already passing there before you put the clock in it. The time rate field is an oscillating field of energy that exists throughout the cosmos, and it has a non zero value everywhere. 'Sound familiar? Yes, that's right. the Higgs field IS the time rate field. The gravitational field is simply the variation in frequency of the field with position, or, the "curvature of time" caused by some of its energy being used by the particles in the larges masses within it. Everything takes its energy from the field, all particles, all matter and all motion too. All events, all change. All energy comes from the time rate field which is why the field red shifts (loses energy) in the presence of other sources of energy. The Higgs Boson is the particle from this field, but it is not the graviton. Gravity is caused by the changing frequency of the field with position in it and there is no particle associated with changing frequency, but only from the field itself. There is no such particle as the "Graviton", it is a figment of our imaginations and we will never find it. I'll leave it there, but there is much more to this idea than can be presented here in a comment. You can read my book "The Binary Universe" - A Theory of Time, and "No", I don't care about selling books, at least, I do want to sell just the one book, to the physicist who takes this idea seriously and who decides to test it. I am not a physicist, but an Engineer. I have a different certificate than a physicist and I take my hat off to these very clever, hard working and knowledgeable professionals. I hope this "Grease Monkey" has sparked some degree of curiosity in the mind of at least one of you.

    • the graviton is just quantized excitations of the metric, which is a gravitational wave 10^30 times smaller than what LIGO detected. So it's not missing. It's too small to observe.

    • @@DrDeuteron Yes, That's the standard answer. But what exactly do you mean by "Quantised", "Excitations", or "Metric"? The word quantised is misused all the time to mean whatever the writer might have in mind regarding discreteness, but there must be a fundamental quantum of energy, a smallest unit of energy, and I deduce that is the Planck time. We can realistically use the term "quantised" when we are talking about this fundamental quantum since it cannot be broken down any further. Anything "larger" or more energetic than this must be an "arrangement" of multiple fundamental quanta and so cannot be described as a quanta. Ultimately these things are all "processes". All particles must be processes restricted within their own "local" by the rules of nature (possibilities) that operate at particle scales. Excitations - I take it you mean a "vibration" for want of a better word, or perhaps better described as a local, perpetual, oscillation of energy of a different frequency than the field it exists within? If so, then I agree. "Metric" - normally used in mathematics as a way of describing some background or field, (I prefer the word field since it brings the idea into the physical realm as opposed to a mathematical abstraction). You refer to the graviton as being 10^30 smaller than Ligo's detections. Well yes, Ligo has detected the ripples (changes), in frequency of the field (metric?), which are only slightly different to the field the equipment normally resides in. In other words, we live in an oscillating field of energy and Ligo detects slight variations in frequency of this field. I am suggesting that the particle of this field is the Higgs Boson, NOT the graviton. I say again, the graviton does not exist. It is a mathematical construct, created to fit our incorrect understanding of the gravitational field. You can keep saying, "Oh yes it does" and I can keep contradicting, but in the end, it is unscientific to claim that something must exist, unless we have detected it. I claim my proposal is correct until that day.

    • Unfortunately just like particles, gravity and space-time will soon be updated with more stolen knowledge

    • @@TheBinaryUniverse haven't certain cultures and beliefs talked about the vibrational and energy based nature of reality? Hasn't it been handily dismissed and called pseudoscience? Now it's called "fields". Now it's been repackaged and given to you. "No more particles, it's fields now". He literally said it.
