LYRICS
Once in your life you'll find her
Someone who turns your heart around
And next thing you know
You're closin' down the town
Wake up and she's still with you
Even though you left her way across town
You're wonderin' to yourself
Hey what've I found
When you get caught between the moon and New York City
I know it's crazy but it's true
If you get caught between the moon and New York City
The best that you can do (the best that you can do)
The best that you can do is fall in love
Arthur he does what he pleases
All of his life his master's toys
And deep in his heart
He's just he's just a boy
Livin' his life one day at a time
He's showing himself a really good time
He's laughin' about the way
They want him to be
When you get caught between the moon and New York City
I know it's crazy but it's true
If you get caught between the moon and New York City
The best that you can do (the best that you can do)
The best that you can do is fall in love
ABOUT CHRISTOPHER CROSS
Christopher Cross burst onto the music scene with his 1979 self-titled debut album produced by Michael Omartian. The lead single “Ride Like The Wind” spent 4 weeks at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and was quickly followed up by Cross’ most popular single to date (and first #1 hit) “Sailing”, which later became known as the archetype for the Yacht Rock genre. In 1981, Cross became the first artist in Grammy history to win the “Big Four” most prestigious awards in a single night; Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also “Sailing”), and Best New Artist. Later that year Cross released “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer, Peter Allen, and was the title-theme for the 1981 film “Arthur” starring Dudley Moorre and Liza Minnelli. The song earned Cross his second #1 and the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 1981 Academy Awards. Cross’ sophomore album “Another Page” was released in 1983 and featured the singles “Think of Laura” and “All Right”. Cross has sold over 10M albums worldwide and his songs have been covered and sampled by NSYNC, Puff Daddy, Avant, Shirley Bassey, Dione Warwick, and many more.

  • What’s so difficult at least for me… is that the music of 70s 80s was just so good… will never be duplicated… Most of us knew where we were when music of this era was played..cars we drove, jobs we had, places we parked….girlfriends… we had no idea at the time that we would grow into adults and eventually become old and wore out. But what and era, throw in 60s….what a great time to grow up… Those days have long passed. To everyone listening pass the music along to the next generation.. They will be glad you did!!! Peace✌🏻

My Mom saw the filming of the scene in front of Bergdorf Goodman, while she was on the bus, going to work, early in the morning. Being a New Yorker, the film and the song resonated even more. • I heard the song on the radio a few weeks ago and I realized that such a masterpiece does not seem to have been composed in the past decades. The melody, vocals and arrangement testify to the fact that true artists were at work in the production. Art has the task of beautifying the world and enriching it with timelessly beautiful melodies, and not creating even more chaos and noise. Christopher Cross has lived up to this maxim with this musical masterpiece. I would like to express my appreciation for this extraordinary achievement.

When I was recently confronted with the repertoire of music of a 15-year-old girl, I was downright dismayed that it was mainly consisted of rap and hip hop, but did not contain a single song that could not withstand the quality of "Arthur's Theme" and many other comparable songs from the 60s to 80s.
