Last time I've seen these episodes were as a teen over 10 years ago. Now I have a new appreciation for the quality camera work you've done, especially in survival situations. You make surviving and filming look so easy, which is a testament to your physical and mental stamina.
Same. I was 14 when it first came out.
Agreed! Les is a badass.
Same here I remember wanting to do this kinda shit when I was 14 & 15... now I'm 28 and still watching but now I go do this same kinda stuff my self instead of just wishing..
@@edilveraguilar8655ll
Yep. Les kicks ass! Love his stuff. Over and over!!
With all that’s going on in the world today this was a very enjoyable 45 minute vacation from life.

Unlike watching the fake Bear Grylls!!!!
Still true a year later @stonecold. Life isn't easy these days
If it weren't for my kids I'd kill myself but I got to keep going for them keep your head up
14:45 127 Hours, well before it was a film
Exactly when I heard this bit
I was wondering if he was referring to Aaron Ralston since Aaron was out biking. I was about to be like... this happened to more than one guy?! Lol.
You do realize that's what the film was based on... don't you?
Wanna hear some crazy shit, look up Frano Selak. Or Ewa Wisnierska.
The rain on the lense is no problem, just makes it even more legit
“You might get lost with only a video camera, gotta do what you gotta do” Time to eat the camera
That made me laugh, thank you.
You can't underestimate the significance of this original series. It inspired people to get outside and learn wilderness skills. It also inspired people to be prepared for anything. No one's come close to making films this interesting and authentic. It's not a reality show, it's a real show. So much better than what's on TV these days.
20:50 can we all take a moment and appreciate him getting that camera shot of himself
9:03 and this one
Right? Even as a kid this was always my thought as well. Especially when you are starving half the time or freezing
Panzy Man gotta be good at something, hmmm?
9.03.
Man, He went so faaaaar!😳
It’s crazy to think that Les had to carry so much gear whilst filming the early series of Survivorman! Imagine what it would have been like if he had a few GoPros, SD cards, small batteries and a solar recharger way back then. Loving all these episodes! Such a rich, educational and entertaining resource!

What you don't see on camera is that Les, has 20 arms.
@@papabear9481 yes
gotta think how that messes with him mentally. "am I in frame? do I have enough batteries? did I grab that camera?"
It's crazy to think that this was way back in 2005, incredible how much has changed. I was 14 now 31- Jesus this still holds up.
2005/06 still feels modern to me. Crazy that it's almost 20 years ago

This guy is the reason I started using leatherman tools. I saw them in the vids and figured if this guy trusts them they are probably good.
Yup I carry my Swiss Army knife everywhere granted not a leatherman it does have a blade a saw blade and many more
@@beast_gago2660 I love those too.
I actually started because of my dad. He always had a Leatherman on him. They're excellent tools and come in handy for soamy things.

He mentioned it so someone must have told the story before.
Damn, grew up watching this as a kid. Revisiting it now and wow, this was truly ahead of its time. Thanks Les for representing the Canucks! You do us proud!
right? Imagine what he could have done with a simple smart phone, selfie stick, tripod, and a drone.
Tip for people who want to try and light a piece of paper with a lens: Should you have any kind of pen or ink with you, mark a spot on the paper (black will work best, obiously); any print will do, too. It will have a way easier time absorbing the light than the white paper.
That blanket makes you like a candy bar for a bear haha

Lol
I feel like the episodes in the early seasons are much more hardcore in terms of the amount of gear he starts with. This one was incredibly challenging.
yeah this one was absolutely brutal, from his starter gear, to terrarin, to the weather, all of it.
Les Stroud is The Man! Unfortunately, youtube has made many of his vid's unwatchable because of forced ads literally every 2-3 minutes. I timed it. KZhead wants everyone to buy their paid content. I was thinking about it, but I will not financially support a company that is so willing to abuse it's potential customer base.
iysticcloud well said mate.
Abuse?
Yeah make your product good and then ask me to buy it, don't make it so bad that I feel forced to buy it. That's just wrong, KZhead, and spotify are the worst at that. They litterally give you ads that say "do you wish there no ads buy our premium deal" like that is so messed up.

Its 14$ you get a music streaming app, no ads and even some movies. @@roberttinsley8960
Reminder that everytime he walks away in a cool shot, he immediately has to double back and go get it before he actually leaves.
Did u figure that out on your own or with help?
I watched the same episodes of survivorman like 600 times, and theres always something I forget everytime.
This is the best survival show out! The second best in my opinion is dual survival.
Dual survival is all staged
Your second favorite is all fake. Just like Bear Grylls.
Ive been binge watching these again, so glad he released them on youtube.
Yes!!! BUT why so many commercials lately on U Tube, I doubt the lady owner is going broke of U Tube.
I know I’ve never seen all these before so I’m glad too
I draw the line at crevasses …8:54. Probably the scariest and most dangerous terrain I've seen Les traverse. You could not pay me enough to fall into one and slowly die of injuries and dehydration/exposure. What a horrible way to die. Thanks Les!
Stay in yer safe space
Les literally left a camera rolling on the other side of a glacier so he could get a super wide long shot of him walking it. That means he has to walk back to grab it (hoping it's still recording) and then walk back the way he just traversed twice already. INSANE! Thank you Les!
Dude, you're a marketing genius. Posting these videos to KZhead has got me wanting to rewatch everything.
Yah but too many commercials . Its Annoying
@@squarebodychevyoverhauls6982 I mean... You have just as many watching it on tv. Its probably less time overall because TV commercial breaks are much much longer, and unskippable ads are 30 seconds max. Your ad breaks on here are 1 and a half minutes max. Usually less. Ultimately, you're watching this for free. If you don't want ads, buy the box set or buy youtube premium. Beggars can't be choosers.
@@rebeccawhite5601 or just get an adblocker for free and not have to pay for anything
@@squarebodychevyoverhauls6982 , I see no ads at all, because I'm using adblock, it's free, so I have no idea why someone would rather suffer through those annoying ads!!!

This episode had very weird editing style to it. Brings back memories of watching these on cable in the states. Very enjoyable. Thanks for releasing them on KZhead Les.
Yea it has so many extra little edits to it! Why? I dont mind it
Yea i remember always watchen this.
That 2000’s style
scene with the wolf den kinda reminds me of mtv cribs lol
Thats cool i didnt know these aired in the states i thought they came way after
After rewatching the first season. I can honestly say, Les really was pushing himself to survive. That's because some of these scenarios/conditions he puts himself in are very harsh. Even for someone with this much experience and knowledge. Thank you, Les for bringing me back to my middle school days you're the best!
I wonder how many people got into prepping by watching Les Stroud and Cody Lundin, both of whom I would love to see do a special together.
About 15 minutes in he’s clearly talking about Aron ralston and the next episode takes place in the canyon lands. I find it hilarious that Les probably said to himself “that’s where I should do the next episode”
Next Panzy Man getting thirsty episode? Should be another nail biter.
Bo McGillacutty what?

@@TheDsRequiem When "Survivor Man" intersects MY old stomping grounds and pretends mountain lions are a threat and even *bobcats* ! Where the only thing that preys on humans are mosquitoes. Hahaha May as well pretend trout are piranhas.
Approximately 8 years ago I was going through a little bout of depression and anxiety. Watching survivorman calmed and relaxed me. Ty. Such a great show!
Man you to! I had a mental breakdown then had giver a medication I was allergic to made it worse I was working ems at the time all Glory goes to Jesus Christ. I’m greatful be out it on less to make these videos
It's about getting back to basics. Focusing on your needs.
I remember watching this in science class when my teacher gave us free time. Very cool seeing a local man doing this stuff.
Thank you my Northern neighbor for all that you do I appreciate all of the videos and education and entertainment.
There is no way that he could go that many days without any real food. Especially when he's carrying 60 lbs. of equipment. Berries and such are packed full of fructose and fiber (minor carbs), but I only saw him drink water once in the whole 48 minutes. He's really good, but this run into the Rockies bordered on insanity (even for Les Stroud). There's a younger version of Les (who is also Canadian) who likes to "be outside" in the worst of winter conditions. His name is Xander Budnick and he makes really short videos about his winter adventures outside. I can't think of where he got "the survival bug" except from Les Stroud. He's not as experienced as Les, but his Camera Equip. is more generational and is of better quality... but they both carry 60 lbs. without any problems. I was saving this video for a day like today.
Now people will find your show I loved it growing up! Thank you!!!
This is like an iconic episode. I remember this way back when.
Use to watch this guy all the time on the discovery channel, back when they actually played decent stuff. Now I can watch all is stuff here on KZhead, good stuff.
I was 12 when I’d watch this on discovery channel. Now I’m 30 and this show aged so well. Looks to me like this episode was the most difficult for Les in the first season, with all that endless cold rain. Nothing I hate more than being wet and cold
As a kid I use to think I could easily survive the places in these episodes. Nowadays I've realize that I would never get stuck in a survival scenario, because I'll most likely die from the disaster that would lead to it.
Les you were such a large part of my early teenage years. I used to come home and watch Survivorman as a routine before I went into my studies and homework. It was something I looked forward to at the end of my school day over 10 years ago. Thank you for everything you’ve done my friend I wish you all the best
I cannot believe how painstaking it must’ve been to capture those shots coming down and through fearsome terrain! Thank you for a great vid and more lessons on survival.
You're an absolute legend for putting these on KZhead. Thank you. No matter how many times i watch an episode its like the first time
Thanks for making these incredibly inspiring films, and thanks again for putting them on this easilly accessible platform where I can watch it for free!!
Beer for my horses...
Les, you're an absolute legend for putting these up for FREE!! Thank you! My brother & I used to watch the show back when we were kids. Awesome to re-watch them in full!
I Love Les Stroud. He's the real deal, original bad ass and he can do it all, and keep me watching these episodes over and over. Thanks to drawing the genetic short straw, most of the time I don't feel well, the rest of the time, I'm in real pain, daily. On my bad days, I can't pay attention to a movie or a new episode, so I have these 5 or 6 people, artists that just soothe me. I can let Season 1 just run all the way through, doze, listen to a voice tat's come to feel like a friend. People like me tend to self isolate. As long as I have my dog, and my still barely functioning old laptop or cell phone, I can try to put my mind on the trail with Les, and not in a body that malfunctions and produces kidney stones and grit non-stop. That's just one of my illnesses. I love zombie movies, and apocalypse/survival movies, and I always find myself thinking, Ok, zones of assessment, water, shelter, defense. . . why is it in every zombie movie people dress in shorts and tank tops? Maybe Les could do a series of horror movie situations and team up with like Eli Roth or Stephen King for episodes. Yeah, this is how m brain drifts.
I haven't seen these episodes in like 15 yrs or more . I was a kid watching this on OLN .
Saw this episode as a kid on TV. So nostalgic to watch it again. Les is the real deal.
Yep
I learn something new with every episode, I’ve spent my life in the woods your never to old or to smart to learn something new
Bruh he's so lucky he didn't take a magic mushroom lmao
A lot of these shots look like they inspired the landscape for death stranding. Watching you walk around with that heavy pack full of gear over that barren landscape has its own form of beauty. Just amazing!
"Barren"... *Sees the lush Canadian Rockies*
I work a pretty labour intensive job and Im falling apart already. Can't imagine how hard this was on Les. Can't blame him for retirement
My favorite season 1 episode, I appreciate it being uploaded here to see again. Those shots by that beautiful mountain river with the rocky shores later in the episode are always images that stuck with me since I first watched it years ago. Captivating landscape.
Everything you said is how i feel. This was always my favorite episode and i was always looking forward to the river scene near the end
30:40 has got some magic to it. This was one of the best in Season 1.
Im obsessed with the canyons one where he drinks the mormon tea and tries to talk to a crow
@@matthewhall9379 That is a good one as well. I do the crow kaw when I'm out tromping around the Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky.
Cold and rainy will make the most beautiful places absolutely brutal. That's a hell of a week. Thanks for doing these.
The original true survivor man, all the others can't hold a candle to you brother!!! Truly all by yourself!!!
I'm so glad you've put some of these episodes up in here ! Hopefully more to come! Thanks Les!
No problemo
@@oscarrosander5242 Oh gee, how original 🙄
Les is one of the toughest if not the toughest survivor man ever.
Les i great. But Ed stafford is just better. Just raw hardcore survival
@@darcywade2711 it’s kind of comparing apples to oranges, Ed Strafford is a different style to Les but both are excellent in their own way. It’s also a personality difference which depends on whom you jive with the best. Personally I like them both and I think they’re great. I typically go towards Les because his style suits me better and who got me into survival. Now Ed maybe your cup of tea, totally great for you. Honestly it’s not a comparison as they’re both amazing at what they do.
@@aylazelanagrebiel3210 i mean it can be a conparison. One goes out with the intention to survive for 7 days, the other 10. They make very similar style content. I just think ed is better because he doesnt bring anything but a camera. Literally goes naked with just a camera not even a knife and does 60 days on a deserted island
The most rewatchable shows ever
I love building a huge fire and watching these at night when I’m off work🔥
A man walking alone across treacherous terrain hauling heavy equipment. Death Stranding
These episodes are so nostalgic for me. I watched them all years ago! Thanks Les!!!
duuuuuuuuude i didnbt know he had these on youtube for the free. love les man
In the time that has passed since watching the original, this alpine environment has been my happy place and where we love to immerse ourselves. It is not often that I watch an episode and think “I could do almost as well”.
I remember this episode vividly from my child hood. Love rewatching all of them on KZhead. Such great memories and now can actualy absorb the information and appreciate how great he is
that shot at 9:04 holy crap man
LOOOL dayum he had to walk all the way back right there thanks for pointing it out
I have often wondered about this shot myself, ever since I saw it the first time on TV back in the early 2000s, that shot is incredible, it’s at least half a mile away. I theorized that he left that camera there and it was picked up later (instead of going back and re-walking the glacier). I have no idea if it’s true but possible I suppose.
Watching Les on a Monday night is just as good as those 80s Saturday morning cartoons!
Him picking the blueberries reminds of the the Greg ovens Rocky Mountain channel. He made a blueberry crumble from wild blueberries. Love it!
Entertaining and educational, quite enjoyable
I saw a story that someone tried to expose you on the Utah episode i believe. Saying how your camp spots are right next to the rode and all.. but this episode is def legit i mean you were dropped right on the peak of a 12000 ft mountain. I truly appreciate your dedication to your footage and survival skills.. remarkable!
He's legit in his survival. Whoever was bored enough to try to "expose" one of the very few decent people in the world who want to share valuable knowledge to a stupid, superficial world, clearly needs help. My brother in law worked for Les for 4 years. 100% legit. His crew stays within a far enough distance that he's completely alone but close enough that if there's a flare, they come. He would only use that if he broke a limb or contracted a severe illness that won't just pass in a few hours. Otherwise, he's surviving. He won't allow himself to die for the show, but he sure lets himself get close at times with the risks he takes.
Y’all need a hero. Where is Clark Kent? I give the man his dues but I’ve watched for few years only on KZhead and he’s good but he’s not that great. He’s cocky af that’s not a “great human”
This just proves you better know wtf you are doing when out in the woods, as beautiful as it is it can mess you up
Watching years later and realizing he brings up the rock story from 127 hours, nuts.
You’re the man Les! I remember watching you as a little kid and still loving your show all these years later! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and adventures 💪🏼
the editing and B roll from this episode are epic.!
Les i used to watch ur show with my notebook open and take notes when i was in highschool. Thanks for all the knowledge and guidance dude. I didnt have a real role model then. Cheers!
real and authentic as it gets bear grylls dont got shit on you i remember watching your show with my grandma when i was little these vids make me happy when im sad thanks for what you do les 👍
Thank you for this series and what you continue to create. You've inspired for years and continue to do so today. Surviving alone with limited resources while running multiple cameras and getting b roll. Then cutting to your own music...You are legend.
Sweeeet it's gonna be a survivorman evening again ! Thanks Les
That super far shot of him on the glacier... he had to go all the way back, get the camera, and walk back to that point and continue. And he does that over and over every episode... freakin crazy.
Les is the absolute greatest he's so dedicated to getting good shots for his fans I mean the guy sets up a cam 📷 walks past them then has to walk back to get them I mean I have heard he will sometimes just leave them for his crew get them but mostly it's him getting them, guy is just the greatest, imagine having to do that tired, starving, knackered and dehydrated a legend and a half 👏.lege stroud
they left the cameraman at the end to try it alone like Les
I wish you’d done one of these with Bear Grylls. 😆 No hotels, no buffet, no bottled water to rinse the piss out of your mouth.
They can always go sleep in a zebra or a camel ;)
No thanks, Bear is annoying
Bear Grylls would never agree, lmao, he needs a 5 star hotel - haha.
I loved these the first time I watched them when they aired, and now here i am rewatching!
Something always smelled fishy about that other guy. Can’t remember his name. But Les Freaking Stroud is the man. Loved this show when I was a kid.
Thank you for putting these on youtube Les. I remember watching these on Discovery channel when I was a kid great stuff.
please come back to Alberta Les we love you here, BC is not the west anymore, Alberta and Sask have got that covered.
Survivor man is the only thing I watch here now. I remember when Survivor man first came out and I still love it. Thank you Les!
This guy inspired me to start backpacking. Its by far the best feeling in the world. Hiking 70 miles through the wilderness with just what’s in your back. Best decision I ever made.
The fact that he has to film a shot then get the camera is amazing. What a dedication to the show
Yes!!! Yes you are.
Damn, I became so much a fan of you Les, just after one episode, I got totally addicted. And for someone who knows the forest pretty well, I got a bunch of knowledge from 7 of your episodes and I can't wait to go out and practice some of your tips. I really like the variety of fire starting methods you used and shown us in detail. Your content is fascinating.
The Real Deal. Not that the other survival guys aren't highly skilled, but with Mr. Stroud he is totally alone.
I'm new to this show, didn't realize how long ago this was made until the man pulled out a cassette tape for his camera lmao
I remember watching this series when I was 12. You are one of the reason why I have fascination for the outdoors. I also want to thank you for putting this content out for free on KZhead.
My man les!!! I use to binge everything on Netflix all the time. I've easily watched the first few seasons 9 times. So good
The guy that had to self amputate his arm was Aaron Ralston. He has a book called " BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE".
This one of thr mist realistic, best shows in history, I remember when it first came out
Thank you Les for posting these on your channel! I’ve been happily binging these, while finishing up my finals. I used to watch these all the time as a teenager and young adult as they were on a lot. I was sad to find that aren’t, but I’m thankful they are on KZhead!
Ahh this brings back memories. But for him to say "I hope there is enough tape". SD cards were not mainstream then.
How does he keep the batteries on the camera going if he’s all alone I’m confused please help?!
@@the-higher-vibration he takes extra batteries with him.
I'd like a debrief with the crew after he's picked up. Sort of behind the scenes kind of thing. I have so many questions. Fascinating series.
Less Stroud is amazing. He manages to make being outside. Always look as miserable and uncomfortable as possible
Your content is just amazing because with all your shots, you are doing the work, setting up a camera, then doing the work all over again. I don't know if a lot of viewers realize the work you put into making this show, not simply surviving but the extra calories you burn filming it for us.
These shows are awesome
