It was fun and also fair: Beau was totally going to use her monk power to destroy her, so why not a little spell from the spell-caster? Beau destroyed her anyways, and it was hilarious.
Well, if it is a street fight without any rules like this was, you should probably even use a gun. Specially in a world when a couple of words and a gesture can heal your wounds magically and you know you have quick access to it.

does Ashley have issues calculating in her head? she needs to use fingers for terms like 8+5 sry for asking but as a mathematics teacher those calculations shouldnt even be need to calculate but just be "known". but maybe its my european school system talking here xD

Just Mighty Nein things: Willingly giving vials of your blood to a Criminal Mastermind so he can blackmail you with the threat of blood magic, but not trusting the Empire enough to sign a simple employment contract.
Their healer only has proficiency with disguise kits and forgery kits; that tells you everything you need to know about the group.
Tbf the empire has more resources to find vengeance should they desert and they didn't seem to want to align themselves with one nation or another.
Almost as ridiculous as trusting a mind flayer with suspect motives over a well known, folk hero Paladin supported by a close friend of the group.
As someone who is currently enlisted in the military I’d pick the Gentleman.
To be fair, the gentleman thing didn’t seem to be exactly voluntary. They already revealed they new his secret code and hideout and where in a room full of his armed men
When nott spoke on hating goblins, she said “I haven’t felt comfortable in their-...in my skin”. Very well done Sam
That part kind of bothered me though... Asking Nott why she was okay with attacking goblins is like asking the others if they like attacking bandits. Asking Nott that question, and Nott's statement that other goblins are bad is just basic objectification.
@@nschubach It's not quite the same. Humans land all over the alignment chart and come from all sorts of backgrounds. The vast majority of goblins will have the same alignment and general backgrounds. Not to mention in world most of the nein probably aren't familiar with goblins or how they generally feel about things. Sure humans can generally justify killing other humans, but for all they know killing another goblin could be devastating.

each round is 6 seconds. So in a bit less than 18 seconds Jester goes from punching Beau, to receiving a salvo of hits and just collapsing 😂 Watching that in real time would have been incredible
I’ve gotta say Caleb and Beau’s developing friendship is an understated but really fun and sweet part of this campaign. It’s like the nerd and bully coming to common ground and becoming pals as a result

I love the dynamic these two have! Starting with the common human suckiness in low light to Beau giving him book help and him going from lights to straight up amplifying her abilities!
Yo ok finally some recent timestamps lol, but I was thinking back on their conversation when seeing this part. Even when seeing the private convo I noted to myself that he brought up his helpfulness to her. Obviously he loosely helped/helps the other but beau was in shits creek during the gnoll mines, plus the three of them together could stupid amount of damage in theory class wise! Love how things are turning out so far Hope you enjoyed your watch thru
I feel like we need to talk more about Yasha's reaction to seeing a cat for the first time. It was absolutely adorable, especially when she was confused by Frumpkin's purring, but also foreshadows somewhat about her past. Cats are pretty common animals, and from what she says in this episode it really feels like she lived in a very isolated rough place and she experiences common things like cats or grass or flowers and is amazed by them. I need more Yasha with a cat content
One morning, Caleb walks in on Yasha raising Frumpkin to the sun like in the lion king and he just sighs, turns around and leaves

It carries the same weight and meaning as people use the word colloquially. It's why cannibals are evil, and so are typical gnolls and goblins (who regularly eat people of all species).

Geraldo Neto To be fair, Beau only won so easily because of the haste. Jester took it easy on her the first round, then beau pummeled her without her being able to get in another hit due to haste. I’m not saying jester would have won if Caleb hadn’t hasted beau, but it would have been much closer.

And the way Jester worded it the situation seems that her mother may have told her stories but just not about the feywild and the traveler just told her more stories. I think the situation is that her mother isin't neglectfull. Just busy due to being a single parent. Also Jester stated that her mother had to keep her hiden because her existance gould compromise their only source of income and that would cause a lot of problems. For example if they have no money to pay for security then some less savoury individuals may come and try to take a piece of the Ruby of the sea which i imagine might not end in the best way for Jester.

That moment when your cleric picks a fist fight with your monk, and no one is left to heal.
And then you have our group, where our bard knows Healing Word, we have 2 druids with at least one healingspell prepared and a vampire that was a doctor with homebrew potions and healingkits. So 4 out of 7 can get people up if they're unconsious. We hadn't really discussed everyones role beforehand.

(Molly screaming about being forcibly conscripted to the front lines, all last episode, with no basis for him to have that knowledge, he's a Tiefling carnival card shark and has bren for the 2 years of memory he has, not only is he an outcast by being a circus act, he's a Tiefling in an empire comprised of mostly human and human-like races i.e. dwarf, elf, gnome, halfling. Also, I didn't like how Taliesin basically forced the group into feeling scared of being pulled into the army.)
@@u.s.s.chucklefucker1657 Knowledge about being forcefully conscripted into a military force isn’t exactly secret knowledge. Having travelled all around with the circus would have given Molly a pretty decent understanding of how the empire works. Also, he’s a free spirit kind, so his fears of being conscripted is well founded and justified.

I like to use anagrams when making NPC names. The party met a merchant named Ledoss Boll. I replaced him when they renamed him "Lettuce Balls".

@@MrBottlecapBill A little mean - by the standard of this show, which features professional actors, Ashley is obviously less comfortable with improv than many of them, however she has found a character by using that to make hers a shy barbarian, which is cute in the way it contrasts. By the standard of the majority of Role Players out there, Ashley remains a brilliantly talented actress (see Last of Us), and when she is capable of giving an amazing and emotional performance. She is just very slowly developing a character. She even has started speaking with an accent specificially for her character, which is a big step for an actress who usually uses her own voice when performing.

I like that throughout all of Nott's backstory Matt barely says anything. He just lets everything unfold, appreciating his friends being awesome...

My favorite part is that when they give little nods to their secret stories he doesn't give like a little smile. Like "ah I know what you mean". Sam going "Veth". And matt keeps the poker face.
@@wenbluepirate3954 Nah, there was a slight change in his face before he settled on his poker face. It was pretty clear that he recognized it, but only if you actively watched his every twitch.
It was the same with Calebs lore dump. Just them talking and Matt sitting there quietly.
Molly's "we'll snuggle" after Jester going "I don't think we'll fit under the cart" had me giggling. Molly gives no hecks about snuggling with his friends and I love it
As I'm catching up on these episodes, I swear that Matt's rolls get better the longer his hair grows

Aasimar in general are pretty cool, but Fallen Aasimar are full on badass
Technically Tiefling is Outworlder+Human/Inworlder's offspring, most of the time it's demon blood/devils blood, but a Rakshasa+Human does means it's a Tiefling as well. -MrRhexx (sorta like that).
Technically it's pretty much up to your campaign world. I've seen a few different interpretations.
I'm such a fan of the dynamic that the two characters that are arguably the worst at normal human interaction are somehow becoming friends, while every single conversation between them ends in the most awkward silence and/or stuttering

I often forget that everyone at this table is a voice actor. Not for any reason in particular, because their voices are usually phenomenal, but Jester's genuine pained cries when she thought Caleb was truly dead and her healing "wasn't working" genuinely sent pangs through my heart and reminded me they do voices for a living, so of course shes going to be a good voice actor. I love this fantastic crew so much.
There's no way Matt brought this group down into an underground fight club and didn't expect at least two of them to start punching each other 😂😂
When the Half-Orc in the group is the only one who asks the right questions and shows any signs of common sense. Nott aside at certain times. Fjord FOCUS FTW.

I love watching Travis's reaction when anyone else scores huge hit points. It's how everyone in Vox Machina reacted to Grog's attacks.
I'm rewatching this and on a second watch travis/fjord so far has been a nonstop pos. He calls everyone else out for stuff and he stole over 600 gold for the groups work...then used it to buy a shield.

Either way he acted like a Saint while stealing the groups gold and then using the groups gold to gamble. Spoilers but he also does in campaign 3 early on. Dudes a dick and despite acting like a good guy has no morale high ground to stand on.

my first time watching C2 but i have been spoiled a lot, so i already know about Nott... well seeing Travis's reaction then was one of the few times in my life i was glad for having read spoilers haha i think i would have missed that completely otherwise
also can we talk about Matt's AWESOME storyteller/DM move right there: you can see he glances and catches Travis having an epiphany, and then you can almost see the gears in his mind computing that if the conversation lasts Fjord could ask some questions to Nott leading to too much of a reveal so soon, so he needs to put an end to it, and comes up with the "oh here's a thunderstorm btw" to fast forward to the next scene and avoid more backstory talk! as a beginner DM i am amazed and wish i can reach this level of quick thinking someday (or maybe i read too much into that and Matt just wanted to say there was a storm coming lmao)

@@uli11 it's only 1/2 damage for piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning damage (basically all physical weapon damage), and I'm pretty sure Matt is good about halving damage when needed before giving it to the players.

I dont have any concrete examples but I feel like prior to this episode she took some big hits while raging that i feel might not have been halved- though maybe im dumb and wrong. And wait- didnt grogg take 1/2 damage from shit like dragons breath and fireballs and shit?
@uli11 maybe at later levels? I'm more familiar with lower levels, which Yasha is at, and there aren't any greater damage reduction in 5e that I'm aware of. I also don't doubt that Ashley would have spaced the damage-halving effects of rage as she was very busy at the start of the campaign.

Oh my gosh yess this was me! I'd only read about cats in books before so I always imagined purring as a soft kind of noise, so the first time I actually felt a cat purr I seriously thought it was suffering from some kind of lung disease and got genuinely worried. @@xxliew depends on the cat, when i had a cat you couldnt really tell when he was purring because it was super soft and he had asthma so his breathing kinda hid it. some cats you dont even need to touch them and you'll hear the purring from across the room.
