    • I grew up right there in that neighborhood, Westchester, where the airport is and the In N Out. When I was a kid the closest In n Out was out in the valley or Pasadena. I drove a delivery truck for an electrical contractor when I was 19 yrs old and my route took me by a couple locations and I would always have lunch at one. The location at LAX was built in the early or mid 2000 and from what I've heard that is the busiest In N Out location of them all. Here's a piece of In N Out trivia that is fairly unknown. I moved to North Bay Area of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge about 15 minute drive in what is Marin County. Marin is known for it beauty, Redwood forests, quaint small cities and vast amount of wealth. Many very wealthy tech, musicians, actors, sports figures, it's one of the most expensive places to live in the country. I lived there for 11 years and my mom and sisters and nephew and niece live there. Well, the city of Paradise, adjacent to Mill Valley allowed In N Out to open a store there and everyone was going crazy in anticipation for the opening. Now, the people that live in Marin are like old hippies who became wealthy, they live in a bubble of crime free, living in the woods hiking, biking, eating granola and voting Democrat. It is ultra white bread place to live. So In N Out gets built. Then the city tells them they can't have a drive thru because it is too unsightly and the traffic won't be good. So, In N Out has a drive thru window and driveway and is all set up for a drive thru but they aren't allowed to use it. So there is one location without a drive thru. A company built on the concept of a drive thru and their first dozen or so location don't even have indoor dining only a small box of a building and double drive thru windows. Of course now after they opened without a drive thru the people who live in Marin County complain about the lines being too long inside when ordering. Stupid people. That's why I moved back to LA.

Worth it if it has to be gatekept to the west coast, but nothing that can’t be replicated closer to home that would be of any significance. 7/10 if you’re from out of town, if you’ve never had it before you’ll have it maybe two, three times tops during your trip. • I once wound up on a flight sitting next to the Regional Manager for In-N-Out's NorCal Division and got to pick her brain for two hours. What blew me away was all the other ways they take care of their staff. If an employee is going to college it's mandated their schedule's accomidte thier classes. Holiday/spacial occasion bonuses/celebrations were comon. EVERY member of the company started out flipping burgers (she began as a fry cook in '88). The list went on. As a San Diegan who travels frequently for work I've eaten at almost every "cult burger chain" in the US. Nothing else even comes close. In thousands of vists, In-N-Out ALWAYS delivers.

My gf and I (we're both from California, but she lived there longer before moving so she LOVES In-N-Out) go to In-N-Out all the time when we don't wanna cook. We can get 2 Double-Doubles, A cheeseburger, medium pink lemonade, and fries for something like $22-$24 bucks. Sometimes she'll get a shake and it's still under $30. It's actually a lot of food for the price (for fast food). It's actually cheaper than Wendy's, McDonald's, Raising Canes, AND Subway order if you aren't using coupons. They're just great and even when they are busy it's not as bad as waiting in a busy McDonald's line.

  • I worked there years ago, but to this day it is still my favorite job. What I liked was when I walked in I KNEW what my position was for my shift and I was well trained on it too. I also got lucky and had a store manager who was willing to not only call me out on my youthful angst about certain jobs, but also show me up and shut me up. One time he told me to do something I thought wasn't possible, told him, and in response he did it faster than he was asking me to do it proving that it wasn't excessive I just needed to get better. That was the moment I respected the hell out of him. I was lucky/unlucky that our district manager lived less than a mile away so he'd often (and randomly) show up at the store. One of his speeches he was telling the newest hires really stuck with me and changed me attitude (at work at least), I won't repeat the whole thing here, but it basically boils down to "a smile is part of your uniform and we pay you more than the managers get paid at the Carl's Jr. across the street. If you can't or won't smile, then leave now and work across the street."

    • Small world. I spent the first part of my childhood in the Baldwin Park area. I wish I remember the address, but it was this shabby little trailer park next to a car wash over on Grand. I remember the Albertsons being a few blocks north. I’m pretty sure it was within walking distance. The In N OUt was just a few blocks up the road. One of the few memories from childhood that is positive. Here I am at 31. I live in the Northwest on the water. I own properties. Have my own company i started from the ground up that is worth a small fortune. And I did it with literally nothing but hard work and the want for better. But In N Out still holds a special place to me. Because when I was a kid not only was it a good burger. but it was the great equalizer. My family could barely afford the necessities and I remember times we simply just went without here and there. But In N Out was something everyone could afford. Didn’t matter if they were a millionaire. Or a little family who literally had nothing who this might be their only treat for a very long time. Everyone could do it and more than even the quality I think that is why people like me defend it so much. My wife is from just across the boarder in Canada and her family moved there from Japan when she was 14. So she had never experienced it. I took her with me when I flew to LA for something with my work. And the first place we went was to the In N Out right there behind the airport runways. She said when I got my food she got it finally I guess I lit up like a big kid because it brought so many good memories back. I could just be happy and not stressed about life and work and all that madness for a little bit. And on our way out I saw a guy asking people for a couple bucks so he could just get a burger. I stopped and asked him did he really just want the burger and he said yeah. So against my wife’s better judgement we went in with him and I told the girl behind the counter get him what ever she wanted. She looked at me like I was nuts and I just told her the day I see someone who can’t even have something as simple as a good meal at a good price that’s the day I want off this planet. He was grateful for it. And it cost so little that it was not even a drop in the bucket to me. But to him that will be a happy memory he can have with In N Out like I have. We got to our hotel and she just gave me a big hug and looks at me and goes “I get it now. Its not just the food for you. It is the reminder to always value things for more than just money sake.” I’m glad she got it. My kids will never go without. They’ll never have to see what I did as a kid. But I want to make sure they always understand the little things in life like this. Sorry not even sure why I’m writing all this. Your comment just sort of brought back memories in a really positive way. Congrats on 60 years sir. That is a wonderful thing to hear in this crazy messed up world and should truly be respected and celebrated. I too hope you get one in your town soon. They are opening one in Ridgefield, WA which is only a couple of hours from me or a 30 minute flight to Portland and a trip across the river. I’m excited for it. Keep going strong

People can call it overrated and sure, there is some truth to that, but for me its mostly nostalgia. Nostalgia aside, their patties are never frozen, their fries/potatoes are chopped in the drive thru window. Its a fresh burger/meal, the price is reasonable, the quality is consistent across all locations. They deserve props, because most other fast food places fail in at least one of those.

    @anony88@anony88Ай бұрын
    • That "potatoes chopped where you can see them" is exactly why the fries are terrible. You can't double fry made-to-order. You need to keep the par-cooked "first fry" fries refrigerated or frozen and then do the second fry when the customer orders them. McDonald's does this in bulk (the first fry is done at the factory before the fries are shipped to franchises in big frozen bags), so do just about all of the McImitators from other fast food chains to the mom-n-pop places in my native Boston suburbs.

  • Great video! Moved to SoCal in 78. Was told you have to try In-N-Out! No doubt it is the premier fast food burger restaurant to beat. No complicated menu, fresh tasty high quality hot food. For burgers it’s my number 1, just above Five Guys. Alternatively for chicken, Chick-fil-a is my number 1 pick. Same thing, no complicated menu, fresh tasty high quality hot food. Employees, like In-N-Out, are very friendly as well. They are also very clean. My number two for chicken is WingStop. Need more high quality fast food restaurants available! 😊👍🏻

  • I lived in California since 2008. In-N-Out is really that good. I live close to the only In-N-Out that ever closed in Oakland. It was a short drive for me, and was practically attached to the Oakland Airport. They opened that area to introduce In-N-Out as fast as possible to people coming to California. Unfortunately, crime around that area has been going rampant, and In-N-Out didn’t want to risk their restaurant being broken into. Luckily, I live close to another one. It is always an a fun experience there, whether you sit down or go to the drive thru. They’re always nice, attentive to your order, and just overall polite. Their prices have also remained very fair in years of inflation. I would love to see In-N-Out expanding as much as they feel comfortable with. Maybe one day the East Coast will get it too!

But when you consider one of their burgers compared to any other fast food chain burger, McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, etc... there is no conparison in freshness, visually they are far superior to the slop smashed thrown together things served by the other chains. In N Out wins by far.

It was way better than any of the other burger joints in my opinion. Despite the ridiculously long line, we still got our food in a very reasonable amount of time. Those employees are efficient, they know what they're doing and they've mastered it. And the basic menu made it so much easier to decide what to get. No reading a 100 item menu and trying to narrow it down until i finally decide on something. All in all, excellent experience. I hope to have it again some day... 🙂
