  • THANKS!!! you helped my 78 and 75 year old parents get home from 4 hours away! The car was driving fine and all of a sudden the warning came on while doing 70mph on the highway and it started slowing down so he had no choice but to pull over on the shoulder. The car was immobile. He called me, I found your video and in about 5 minutes he was on the road again and drove for the next 4 hours to get home!

  • dude I’m not even gonna lie, I was so skeptical about this video. I was like there’s no way this will work. I was driving on the highway and shifted into 5th gear and the trans was like so confused and the car like jolted and I thought I completely destroyed the transmission. Drove damn near back to my house which was 20 minutes. Tried this out before I got home and omg. It literally worked, I was in such belief and had to make sure it was real and threw it into manual mode and ripped it and shifted absolutely amazing. I cannot thank you enough bro. I was thinking about how to break this news to my dad after both of us putting upwards of $8K into this car. You gained a subscriber for sure.

  • I really wanna thank you for the simple and easy advice. I couldn't even believe how awesome it is, to reset the transmission malfunction. I was driving my 2013 528i for almost 2 weeks this way, esp. at a stop light, the transmission goes to malfunction. Thank you and God bless you.

  • Thanks a million! After my 2015 X3 shows "transmission malfunction...do not shut off the engine but seek help from nearest shop..." alert several times, I was panicky and almost called my BMW dealer to set up an appointment. Before I did that I wanted to make sure what the problem was: e.g. was it really a transmission malfunction? Should I flush my transmission with new transmission fluid? Should I change my battery? Then I found your video. It worked! You save me at least a thousand dollars. You know how expensive to visit BMW dealer especially after warranty expired.

  • I just tried this and it actually worked. I will say though, I need to investigate what caused this transmission malfunction message to begin with, so for now I’ll look at this as a workaround but it got me off the road. 👍🏼 Follow the steps the video says and it will work for you, as well unless you got a bigger problem.

  • Worked for my 2008 BMW 550i! It was shifting super hard and that “transmission malfunction” would pop up. Couldn’t even drive a mile before it would act up. Followed the steps and now she runs like normal! I hope life has treated you great my friend! Thanks for the tip!!!

Thanks so much for sharing Mr C Man haha.I was pissed when this happened, I was grinding with being stuck, getting a tow, making shop appt, spending several hundred dollars, etc, and then found this video.   • I appreciate you man, this just saved me a bunch of trouble, first battery was down, boosted it, then it was stuck in park. Watched videos on manual disengage on the gear lever but none to reset the transmission that had a red warning light. I followed your instructions and for now it looks fine, it's due in the garage in morning for its annual service so hopefully no nightmares in the morning so thanks a million you're a life saver at this point, stay blessed.

  • Hi it’s 2023 and u my friend made my day 🎉 .!!!! my 535 xi wouldn’t change gears my radio and lights were acting up I had a transmission light on and gear selector light on .     • @@MrCARman Hey...things were going great... however the 'transmission fault' light popped up again So I drove around 20 km to exactly see what the problem was. What I noticed was that the fault appears between the speed of 50-60 kmph. No fault in.less than that speed and no fault beyond 60 upwards!!!! Just when cruiz at 50/60 it appears.PLEASE HELP....ANY IDEAS!!!?

    • Sumit, I would do a transmission fluid flush as well as change ur seals, filter, and mechatronic sleeve in the transmission. This 99% should resolve ur issue

  • Great video! For anyone out there like me, this worked on a G05 2019. Symptoms were engine light on, random shifts between manual and regular D, reading lights randomly turning on. It all went away after following steps to reset ECU.

    • This is just returning factory preset of automatic transmission. In case if it is an old one, and passed many miles - the factory settings of pressures can make the AT burn like an BBQ or at least get more troubles with oil, filter and solenoids. Topicstarter just explained how to get home or to the service, for future servicing your gearbox.

    • @@MrCARman hello sir, i have a question too: month ago bought one 525i from 2004 ,(160.000 km )took it to a garage for new oil, filters, spark plugs ( soon had to go in holiday outside country with the car) therefore the owner of garage said : best change the atf transmission too...therefore old fluid out and refilled with new atf oil..but filter wasnt changed and i wonder if new atf fluid mixed witg remainings of old atf that was left cause after first 1500 km got same error :/ Might be cause of mix atf fluids or trans need flush followed by original bmw atf?

  • May God bless you and your family. This happened to me while I was 3 hours out of town on my 08 BMW X5 4.8 I. I did exactly what you described in the video, except I only had to press the start button one time after putting the fob in the ignition. Thank you thank thank you this video helped a lot I was completely freaking out because all of the lights came up on the dash but after trying this they all disappeared once I started her back up and started driving.

    • I have an appointment at the dealership in the am on the same vehicle. Maybe I should try this first. My drive malfunction like came on and the car only has 99k miles on it. It's in excellent condition. If this doesn't fix it what do you think it could be? I need to find a reasonable mechanic in the area vs. The stealership. 🙄

  • You are right if it is an intermittent fault it could be the transmission failing but it can also be the ecu that’s broken my e91 pre lci has an issue where sometimes throws up an airbag fault light my Autel obd2 reader doesn’t want to read it or erase it.

  • I have a 2012 335is that transmission suddenly took a shit. Dealership did a fluid change. Basically told me to pray it works. Was fine for a couple weeks. Now the light is back on , car is driving weird. I just did what you showed in your video and I swear I think it fixed it. Fingers crossed!!

  • I have a 2007 BMW X5 as well and my driver side blows out cool AC and my passage side blows out hot and some times none . They both was working fine and I sent my car to the shop to get a serpentine belt put on and when I picked it up they told me about the AC. I don’t want to take it back there and I was wonder if you could do a video on what I could do fix it or just let me no in the comments on what I should do thank you for the x5 video they are big help to me because this is my first bmw and there so high tech ❤️ please keep doing more !

    • Hi first of all congrats on the x5!! Bmw are great IF you keep up on their services. As far as the blowing hot ac problem, that’s most likely due to the actuator flaps, your passenger side is stuck and not “flapping over” to run the ac. You have to take apart the dashboard to reach these parts (it’s a bit of a long process) At times you will notice that it will blow cold air from the passenger side and that’s because it ends up switching over

  • I have just done this procedure on my 2005 530I msport. I was having the trans error come up after driving for 10 minutes or so and going into safe mode or whatever they call it ( limp home mode ) Did this and it cleared it. I have driven it now for about 45 minutes or so. Stopped and started a couple of times. So far so good. Driving perfectly normally now. Hopefully it will stay that way. As I said it would not ever go longer than 10 mins before without error. So, regardless of whether the gearbox turns out later to have a problem, this procedure did work without doubt.

  • I have the pre-lci model with the steel key and experience the exactly same problems. After you kept the gas pedal for 30 sec and released it, you pushed the start/stop button once. I don´t have a start/stop button, what should I do in that moment? Turn the key quick without pressing the brake? Or does this technique work only with the lci key fob and not yhe older version?

I had the same issue on a 2011 750i xdrive with only 65000 miles, though, mine goes away right after you drive it, it comes on after every 2 drives and turning off the car no matter whether you drive it for 2 miles or 20 miles, it never comes on while driving, it is very strange. However, i did your rest trick today, and it was still on after I turned the car back on. Now I am not sure if the rest is going to prevent it from coming back after every couple drives, also it shifts smooth all the time, well because the fault goes a way right when i start driving, any thoughts? 😊 🙏

    • I'd get the car checked by mechanic if I was you. If the error comes back after a reset it means theres an underlying problem and you should get it checked before you get any further problems
